The name of Phil Spector is used because of the more then 100 multitracks in the mix. The original drums and percussion that are also used in our remix sound very Spector-alike to my ears.
At the point where Motown kicks in the snaredrum hits on the count while the basedrum and base play syncopated exactly like in loads of Motown tracks.
'Dutch...Phil...Spector....' You MUST be kidding. It's so sad when people NOT familiar with a language, try to make metaphors.... Ot DOESN'T 'go Motown...' nor, ANY of the things you allude to. I'm NOT dispraraging your track. I AM saying it is NOT 'Sector-ish' in ANY way, and it's NOT Motown-ish in ANY way.
Thank you for posting this to me, it's really interesting. I would just want to say, that I don't like few things about this, to be honest. Recording MIDI instruments to the mix is really senseless, and it destroys the artist's original work. Also, please if you're mixing the whole album, don't do this wall of sound, most of the consumers don't like this wall of sound (I honestly hate it, I've never could listen to 'All Things Must Pass' album because of it). Anyway, this is a really good work.
@TheMusicalSteve Thanks for the respons. About the midi stuff: we simply can't record drums here and we wanted to change the original drums the way we did. Tastes are very personal.
