Not a serious fan of either Zep or Billy Squier in the day, I was into 80's New Wave. I thought Lonely Is The Night to be a Zep tune but could never find it on any of their releases. But Zep was gone two years when it came out. Like Stevie Ray Vaughn did with Hendrix, Billy Squier and Bobby Chouinard (John Bonham sound alike) managed to capture some of Zep's spirit in this tune: 1:343:003:46 and overall. Makes me wonder if Chouinard should have rung up Jimmy Page during Squier's sabbatical.
@mervviscious I saw that tour in DETROIT !! When his only stage show was Billy swing in on a rope to start the show. Billy got talent - good times 80's
heard this song when I woke up today and I too thought it was Led Zeppelin...wanted to learn it on guitar and found out it is Billy Squier. COOL would have never known
@InlineFury1 If this is Led Zeppelin, then I'M Billy Squire! This instance MIGHT just show one of the few socially redeeming qualities of games like "guitar hero" and "G.T.A". at least most kids have heard "real rock" and MAY even know who played it, Even though their REAL GUITAR PLAYING SKILLS were deteriorated!
@VEVOTroll HAHAHAH your funny....assuming your not really that stupid to think its robert plant singing....dumbass. and everyone who like his comment, GTFO!
@weezer619 What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone on Youtube is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no respect, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Great great song. I remember (as a pre-teen) this guy was HUGE in the early/mid 80s. MTV was in full swing. Then he put out the "Rock Me Tonight/tonite" video. His career was *over* Shows the stigma change in 2011/2012 (I think) most people don't care/are P.C. enough about someone being gay or bi.
I always thought Guess Who - American Woman sounded a lot like Led Zeppelin, and if you disagree don't call me a retard and start analyzing their styles.
I never thought about Squire sounding like Zep, but sort of does. I was into him when this was new. He was the backup band for Queen when the came to town way back then. He wasn't as good as Queen, but he was damn good live.
You know in defense of the lad's comment the first time I heard this song I thought it was Led Zeppelin! This song and and few of his other songs sound like Led Zeppelin. His voice, and music in this song.
Led Zeppelin could have done this. I think people mistake Billy Squier for LZ by the sound of the guitar and the drums. Especially the drums. RIP John Bonham and Bobby Chouinard.
This is NOT Led Zepplin. Robert Plant and Billy Squire sound NOTHING alike. However both of these singers are amazing but no where near similiar in voice.
I'm pretty sure that the top comment is just making a reference to how similar the guitar and drums sound alot alike, giving it a Led Zeppelin feel :D
@MultiWaldo666 If they didn't sound alike there wouldn't be so much confusion. I don't know much about Billy Squire's catalog of work but at least in the song his voice sounds nearly identical to Robert's. Honestly, I don't know how it's possible NOT to hear a resemblance.
@MultiWaldo666 I totally agree with you. They sound nothing alike. I can listen to billy squire but I CANNOT listen to plant. Plant is fucking annoying as hell to listen to.
@guitarhero923XBL well, to be fair, mr. squier did take a page or two from the LedZep, book, as did Heart (the bass line from "Achilles Last Stand" ended up in "Barracuda,"),
Lynnrrd Skynnrd had a little "Stairway" with "Free Bird,"etc. etc. etc.
Went to a concert where Pat Benatar was the headline band... don't get me wrong ... they were awesome but the lead in band was even better.
Yeah... you guessed it... the lead in band was Billy Squier touring with this album (I believe). He was just unbelievable... what an fantastic concert!!
@Paradigm6790 are you fucking serious? no, Led Zepplelin is not a pink floyd song, theyre an amazing band, jesus christ do you live under a rock? how does one not know this?
@papadiablos I guess if your not a child of the 60's-70's the subtle similarities might be more pronounced but I have to agree with you.... Squire's music definitely does not have the Bluesy sound/style of Page. Billy & Robert...I never even gave it a thought,,,I could name the tune in one note...they are that different. Then again, I don't listen to the junk they play these days but when I do it ALL sounds the same with few exceptions.

My. God. this song is so intense my goosebumps are scared, my rubix cube just fixed itself, my guitar just played a solo itself, Chuck Norris even said "Ouch," Justin Beiber is a boy, Freddie Mercury is President, there is a rockstar under my bed, and the earth is square.
