Yeah, Lazlos, WPIX had some great late-night programming. Seems like every 20 years there's a great NYC sitcom -- The Honeymooners....The Odd Couple....Seinfeld. Means we're due in a few years for another good one !

For a number of years, from 11;30 PM EST to 1:00 AM or 2:00 AM ,WPIX would show an episode of The Odd Couple,then 1 or 2 episodes of the Honeymooners, and then 1 or 2 episodes of the original Twilight Zone TV Series. I think WPIX also used to show the old Batman TV Series late at night.

I used Felix's same logic when some stupid college professor acccused me of breaking a printer when she made up a totally false story of me banging on the printer. When she said the word "assume" I also pointed out when you "assume" you make an ass of out you and me! It worked! I also asked her if she would swear on the good book of the Bible that she was telling the truth and naturally, she refused to because she knew her story was a lie.

I remember seeing this one years ago. It was on WPIX 11 in NY. I must have been about 13 at the time. I nearly fell out of my bed laughing. This is such a great show. These guys weren't being paid a million dollars and episode, they weren't fucking everything in sight. TV now is just bland and stupid. I don't even watch it. I don't have cable. The writing and acting came through in this one. Where is all the real talent?

Well, I was watching the Odd Couple probably all through the 80's on PIX, and maybe as far back as the late 70's. I actually had about 3/4 of the episodes on VHS tape for a long time. The tapes dated back to 1983-85. It was cool just to see the old commercials on those.

I watched some of them when it was on ABC prime-time. In the summer of '76 watched it on WPIX 11 along with "The Honeymooners," after the 10 news, while staying with my grandma. If the Yankee games went long sometimes the Newscasts pre-empted those shows. I would love to see the old ads, as I look for some of them now on youtube. Why I don't know, probably nostalgia.

I was very likely watching OC as early as '76. My older brother did watch some of the prime-time broadcasts, and being the youngest in the family, I usually watched whatever was on. I certainly share in the nostalgia for those days. I own the first two seasons of the Odd Couple on DVD, but after hearing mixed reviews of the later seasons, due to material being edited, I haven't bought the rest. I'm still tempted to, so I can get scenes like this.

WPIX had a great line-up back then for a while: two espisodes of "The Odd Couple" followed by the Honeymooners and then STAR TREK, which is how I got into it. Awesome.

Nothing like these shows on TV today. Everything's formulaic dreck mostly aimed at females and homosexuals.

Is my memory playing tricks on me? I seem to recall the 'never assume' episode as one where Felix defends Oscar against a parking offence. The police officer states that as records showed the car parked illegally belonged to Oscar, he 'assumed' that he'd parked the car where it shouldn't be. Felix did the same chalkboard thing, thus belittling the officer's evidence.

If I'm thinking of some other show using that famous - and brilliant - 'assume' gag, please enlighten me.
