  • cute lol.

  • @mammal567

My best advice to you is that you should look into getting a really good private lesson teacher who is great at oboe, teaches it well, and makes their own handmade reeds. Commercial reeds just won't do it past middle school.

If you decide to buy your own oboe or english horn, include your lesson teacher or band director in the process.

    Good luck!

  • omg sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo cute

  • She seemed like she was enjoying it.

  • cool! yea!

  • This is awesome!! I am very impressed, she seems to be very interested in music, and the oboe :) Bravo!

  • OMG awesome!! You should recommend lessons to her!!!

  • @mammal567 be more emotional when you play the oboe it helps you mentally and physically and also use vibratos

  • cute

  • You'll gradually learn how to control your lips... Don't push yourself :)

  • wow wat kind of reed is it like hard?

  • she's going to be a god!!! i promise you! you better make her an amazing musician! you can't throw away talent like that!!

  • shes so cute! she can hold play a note for a really long time for a 5 year old

  • she is adorable

  • She's lucky she got to play the oboe at such a young age. I didnt start learning until i was 12. you should seriously give her lessons!

  • Shes adorable :3 actually, shes doing a better job than my friend whos 16 who tried out my oboe, and shes already a woodwind player haha

my friend couldnt get out a note, so this is awesome.

If she wants to be an oboe player when she grows up, im sure she'd be amazing :D

  • great breath support

    try vibrato

  • Nice!

  • i'm an oboist, and i'm pretty sure this is the cutest thing i've ever seen. good luck to her - she has a bright future. (:

  • 1:44 She's ready to learn vibrato! awesome! Can't wait to hear her playing in a few years... YOu're brave to let a 5 year old touch your oboe. I don't let my almost 4 year old touch mine..

  • Maybe you should get her a Cabart oboe by Lorèe (: It's made for children like her I suppose(:

  • I agree. Get her going in lessons soon.

She has a lot of potential!

At least get her with a recorder and teach her basic music theory! :]

  • get her lessons! now is the time to start :)

  • she is good. better than me. i JUST started.

  • She sounds great!! If only I could play that good.....

  • practice and get as good a reed as possible

  • It may be the reed.

If you're renting your oboe from a music agency, don't trust the cheepo reeds they lumber you with!

  • she is a lot better than my 13 year old friend who trys to play mine

    she broke my reed

  • I give you a lot of credit for having the patience to let the little ones try it out... I'm so nervous around my oboe, always worried the reed will chip if I set it down too suddenly, etc. haha so I respect that you put that aside to let them have an experience they won't forget - possibly even pick up Oboe later =)

  • thats adorable

  • How adorable! She's good for such a young girl (:

  • Thats an oboe for you; to make it sound more like a lovely duck and less like a dying duck, my best advise is to control your embouchure and air flow.... if you are blowing too forcefully through the reed, it increases the vibrations and makes it squaky. take the reed only & try different wind speeds and pressures, gives you an idea of how the sound changes, then add the instrument, choose 1 note to play, try the same technique with your air, and this should make you more aware. Good luck!

  • I wish i could sound that good

  • WOW

  • aw, she sounds so smart.

    and sounds good.

i started the oboe today and is better then me already

  • you must learn the oboe she will be an oboist!!!!

  • she is adorable! (i sense a famous oboist-to-be)

    :)

  • Wow she is very good. By 12 she will be a lot better than me thats for sure!!!!!

  • greaat...

heheh now take a deep breath! =D

She will be a new oboe star. I play the oboe too.

  • that's awesome.

she'll probably be better than me by the time she's 7.

  • she will be a great player (if she wants to)

  • Awesome!

  • I am an oboe player myself and she sounds great right now imagine when shes older haha how adorable

  • Aww, she is so adorable and so is her brother!!

    Someone has talent :)

  • prodigy

  • It took me like 2 days to get my oboe reed to play, and that was when I was like... 15.

    Haha.

Shes gonna be good as long as you have her play.

  • shes adorable!!

shes gonna be an awsome oboe player when she grows up =)

  • future oboist!! encourage her :)

  • thats adorable

  • dang i barely put teh reed in my mouth today and she sounds better than me!

she could so totally knock people's brains out if she keeps playing!

  • Hahaha, I wish I had that oboe when I was 5!

  • That baby boy is awesome.

  • Hahahaha!!!! That's too cute!

  • If I did that I would pass out! and I've played flute and piccolo for six years! I tried oboe and it takes A LOT of air!

  • yes It does take a lot of air. Ive only been playing flute for 4 years but and I just started oboe 6 months ago, and I can hardly play that long.

Cute Kid! She'll be really good if she keeps practicing :D

  • i would be very scared to let a 5 yr old do that w/ my oboe! but that is still good!

  • am i too small to play an oboe if i'm between 51 and 54 inches?

  • of course not!!

i am a shorty mcshort short girl and i play the oboe. lol

  • AWW!! So cute!

  • For what she is doing, it's actually a good sound. Impressive!

  • Aw.. That's adorable.

I've played my Oboe for about.. 5 months, but I'm already in the local youth orchestra's Principal 1st chair Oboe.

I can't get over the cuteness of the little kids! xD

  • im amazed she can do that with a double reed insrtoment

  • maybe this is the next prodigy.lol.but i did not play the clarinet first before playing the oboe.

  • o.o

  • o_O

  • I bet it must be hard to start on a modified or a conservatory system. I bet that reeds hard for her too.

  • Oh i wouldnot be able to get a sound out of this.

  • Hahaaa, she sounds so much better than me... o_0

    She's adorable!

  • does she know how to play notes?

  • this was the first time she ever saw an oboe in person, If you listen closely, in either this video or the next one, I explain how to play a b, a, and c. she picked it up really quickly.

  • wow she already knows vibrato!?!? great job!

  • I have let my 6 year old sister play on my oboe. Its always interesting and she hates when I take it away this is so adorable! I think shes a natural.

  • Lol, this reminds me of when my family tried playing my oboe. They held it just like that! except they couldn't even get a note out like that....

  • This is where Juilliard begins! ;-)

  • Juilliard...no question.

  • join band!!!!!!!!

  • wow my band teacher would FLIP if he saw this.

  • o.o I started oboe when i was 12 ^^

Is it to late to be good later?

  • It's never too late to be good at something as long as you have dedication and drive!!! YOU CAN DO ANYTHING YOU PUT YOUR MIND TO!!!!! Best of Luck!!!

  • Thanks ^^

  • A lot of oboists start after learning the flute or clarinet (when their band director makes them...) Personally, I started when I was 14. You have a lot of work ahead of you, but I promise that it is totally worth it and as you get better and better, you mature even more than you would have without the oboe. Seriously, this instrument has been one of the best (and sometimes worst, I won't lie to you) thing that has happened to me. Just remember: don't slack off!! Good luck!

  • same here im 13, just finished grade 5 Clari, and now am made to play oboe. I just did Grade 3 Oboe and play for the Gold Coast Philharmonic.

  • cant even hold my notes that long lol...5th grade od 6th sign her up..she has the talent...wunder if she knows how to read notes...she playing 1 of the 2 double reeed intruments...bassoon and oboe....mom is that urs

  • DUDE! That's freakin amazing! I hope you get her parents to sign her up for oboe later on!

  • wow I can barely play on a pro reed! they are really really hard!!

  • She needs to keep it up!!

  • DANG SHES BETTER THAN ME LOL!!!

  • This girl is gonna be really good when she's older! She's got loads of talent!!!

  • i tried an Oboe when i was 12. she's a lot better than i was. she really, really, really should be an oboeist.don't know if the word exists though

  • hi iv been playing the oboe for two years now and for some strange reason this girl inspires me!!! n.n keep on playing!!!

  • Good job! She's good. I started playing and made that kind of sound when I was 9 or 10.

  • *#@! I can't believe that a pro reed and she can play it she going to get far when shes older. good luck to her!!!
