I hope by now your friend will have told you how to double-wrap the leader around the bobbin before you start. This prevents the leader from spinning freely, so you won't have to try to mess with the tension screw like you did in the video. It'll work a million times better when you do this, I think there are even a few videos on youtube that show this, I think i saw one on a drop spindle video. Great project btw! Thanx for the posting!
