  • @KKCSaw - the lab we use is Metametrix. I think they only work through clinicians however. Let me know if I can be of help.

  • Dr. Vikki,

Can you give the name of the lab that tests for secondary infections, please?

  • @kradnaybalt - I have not heard of a specific association, but the fact that both are autoimmune skin diseases makes them potentially likely candidates.

With any skin condition, as skin tends to reflect colon health, we typically begin by looking for any abnormalities within the digestive tract. Gluten is particularly linked to autoimmune diseases so the potential of a 'smoking gun' is strong.

Please let me know if I can be of any specific help to you.

    Best,

    Dr Vikki

  • This is the first I have heard of testing the stool for secondary sources ---thank you for mentioning it.

Has there been any link between granuloma annulare, livedo reticularis and celiac disease?

  • @thepixieful - I'm so glad that you discovered your gluten intolerance and everything is doing so well.

Please feel free to contact me should you have any questions or problems that arise.

    Best,

    Dr Vikki

  • after decades I thought each meal was followed by pain, GF diet is a god send, gut works, migraines less, skin great, neurology better....for me it was a WOW....took about six months to figure out GF waffles, and gourmet dinners. lots of great recipes and kitchen tips on line.

  • Dr. Petersen, please look into the Specific Carbohydrate Diet. Antibiotics just don't cut it when it comes to small intestinal bacterial overgrowth. The book about it is called "Breaking the Vicious Cycle," by Elaine Gottschall. The theory is that SIBO can't be eradicated unless it's starved of complex sugars ( bi- and polysaccharindes). This diet can help Crohn's patients as well as IBD patients at a rate of about 80%. PLEASE look into it,

  • Well done. A lot of people have this and don't know it. Thank you for your excellent work.

  • I wonder if water fasting for a few weeks would get rid of these bacterias
