You'll have to spend time learning to read Mundus' attacks and how to respond. He also behaves very randomly, which makes him a real bastard. His only regularity is hurling the spheres at you every minute or so.
something's wrong... in the first battle, the rune-fire attack deals way too much damage... when i attack him with that, i shot as fast as i can, and i merely make his lifebar go down
HI sternn64 I need some help there are some actions I even can't do (or I don't know how to do them) in this game...I'm also on DMD but please tell me how to do this huge fireballs (called meteors with ifrit). and how to hurl mundus' white energyballs back? wheh I try to hit them they hit me...and sometimes even when I have a full DT-bar the 2hit-dragon doesn't apear...do you probably know why??? thanx
Hit Square while DTed to do the Meteors. You can't shoot guns while DTed on this mission.
Slash at just the right time to send the fireballs back.
The double-hit dragon is an exploit that makes the game register two hits. You can only do it on odd runs with 10 full runes point-blank just before he summons the six gunspheres or when he's about to vortex away. You can also do it on even runs at point-blank with less than 10 runes if you do it from the bottom of the screen.
I'm extremely impressed. I wish I'd figured out some of this stuff on my own, before now I never knew about vortexing or reflecting Mundus' White Orb Attack. I just started playing again after 2 years and I never got a speed run near this good. Shows you how important research is. Thanks, bro, awesome run.
Say, right after the first dragon attack (when mundus is doing his vortex attack), you vortex him right on his chest?? how did you do that? I tried so many times and failed. Plus that dragon attack doesn't always get 2 hits...
You probably just think it's too hard because the game is alot harder then dmc1 which makes it more rewarding and i find the fighting alot more fun. I have both games and 1 is wayy too boring now to play, i use to love it but ever since i got dmc3 i just cant play it anymore :/ And you have to hit the enemies in dmc1 over and over again too
dmc3's fighting is way better then this, what do u mean its too repetitive , dmc1 is more repititive then 3, in 3 u have alot more options if moves you can do
Yes, you have more moves, but all you do is cycle between them. On top of that, you have to hit them over and over and over to kill them. The way enemies tank through your moves bothers me as well.
The other games follow this design: "Run up to the punching bag, and hack and slash it until it attacks in spite of this. Dodge, then repeat until dead." Yawn. And if you want any kind of "style" ranking, you have to mix in ALL of your attacks, especially the weaker ones that leave you open to counters.
And running up to most enemies in DMC1 is a good way to get your ass handed to you.
This is God when He is in a bad mood.

4:43 - You were hit by a fireball and didn't lose any health... :/
Oneworld87 2 years ago
All you have to do is keep moving forward, and the fireballs won't hit you. Being DTed makes that easy.
sternn64 2 years ago
Okay, but I'm still finding it incredibly hard to believe that people are completing this game on DMD mode, with S rank, without getting hit.
Oneworld87 2 years ago
Speed runners are crazy, man. It's just a fact of life.
Bliphgar 2 years ago
The secound one was certainly an easy one xD, it merely even hit you, and only stood there. Lol, still, you killed the first one :P

Hitting him directly in the chest seems to do double damage.

i found i do more damage using the fast meteor attacks am i wrong? or are u charging for another reason?
JessicaAngel22 3 years ago
Not from my experience. The fast Meteor attacks just make his health bar shake.
sternn64 3 years ago
huh i still can't beat him! even with an untouchable, a vital star and 4 devil stars! help!
DemiGogeta 3 years ago
When he summons the dragon I think you can take it down with just one hit by slashing the fireballs it breathes at you for a ricochet hit.

thank god you were born! i couldn't find any mundus dmd guide better than this!!!!

Learning your enemies' moves and how to counter them is the core of this game. There's also little glitches you can exploit here and there.
sternn64 4 years ago
What other glitches can you think of off the top of your head, other than the Nightmare and Nelo counterattacks?
KamuiTa 4 years ago
you can do the two hit(Dragon) when Mudus is ready to do the vortex. Fly a little lower to increase the chance of success.
wingwing90 4 years ago
how did u managed to get 2 hit dragon attack on mundus on 1:43??? that depleted half of his health meter!
rich8606 4 years ago
When Mundus is getting ready to Vortex away, you can fire off a 10-rune DT Dragon that will connect twice. ONLY a 10-rune Dragon will do it.
The second hit doesn't require a full gauge, but only works on even-numbered approaches.
sternn64 4 years ago
Nice!!!! I should go back and kill plasmas to get enough red orbs, then buy the last purple orb to get 10 runes. Cheers, mate!

do you have a run of devil may cry 3 ? i learned alot from this run i was hoping you had one for 3 so i can learn from that as well
Ronitachi 4 years ago
Unfortunately, I never quite got DMC3's battle mechanics down.
I was never a big fan of DMC3 anyway. The combat was just too repetitive and frustrating.
sternn64 4 years ago
Yeah you right , but it was fun trying to pull off unique combos
Ronitachi 4 years ago
@sternn64
Dude I totally agree, they just stacked way too many moves in the latter games and less enemy A.I. no where near as good as the first game.
