I'm getting two degu's soon and I cannot wait. Even before I have purchased them I have bonded with them really well and they're so playful and friendly.
@Karoll2006 I agree. I have 4 Degus (boys). I love them! They make me laugh every day. Watching their social life is really interesting! Beside that: they are soooo cute! ;-)
Haha I want one but wish they lived longer :( I don't think I can stand putting anymore down. But I'm getting a Chinchilla in a few weeks and he's going to be named Stitch, too :)
sadly my degu is alone :c he doesnt seem upset about it. but i do want to get him another one. i just dont know where. they dont sale them at any pet shops where im from. and i havent been able to find a breeder
this is realy cute he make me smile he must be fighter not a losser =D look at the description in video he/she not alone and they could do nicely with humman companion. but if you dont have much time you must buy company for degu i have allmost all book how to treat them
@montux2 It really would be a bad idea, depending on the age, if they are over 12 weeks, i would strongly disagree, as i have 3 degus, all added at different times, and i have to keep them in different cages due the fighting.
@6789Lilly My Degu, Duggy, is alone because his wife died (were not sure why) he was a little depressed for a day but then we put the hamster cage beside him and he's been perfectly happy ever since, very healthy, friendly, can be VERY noisy when he wants to be taken out of the cage lol Duggy also has a special squeek when he wants a treat! But I think 1 MAY BE acceptable depending on the circumstance, because Duggy is the happiest rodent I know!
2 or more. They're social animals and the more the better. Otherwise they'll be a bit less balanced overall. They might still be affectionate but then they'll be demanding and clingy. Or they'll go the other way and get truly mean and distant.
I have a pair of males and one is more affectionate and chill than the other haha. yeah mine gripe a little when I hand out treats, but they've stopped bickering for the most part.
i'm am deeply sorry about your loss......a couple years back i lost my dwarf hamster.....his name was gerby its really hurt when he passed away because he knew me very well....sadly they only live up to 2 years...='[
Beautiful, talented, awesome... such great dancing as well :) I'm truly sorry for your loss :(.... your little one is waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge :)
I only recently got two baby degus (six weeks old) and they're are very adorable and intelligent. I'm so sorry for your loss of Stich. But, where ever Stich is at, you can always hope she's happily dancing :). RIP
I have to say, that's quite possibly the cutest thing I've ever seen. Not that I would ever want one for a pet what with their sensitivity to sugars and propensity towards diabetes and all the ill effects of that... I really hope this cute little critter is never sold at 'normal' petshops like petco and petsmart because it's definitely not an animal just anyone can take care of properly.
