I was driving car...u don't know, but in Poland radio stations are SHIT and we have all this pop-plastic stars over and over again. And there was talkin' 'bout grammy award and some young folk said:" I remember when Eddie took this award and said, that he don't know what it means, probably nothing" And then this song...
I pulled over and just enjoy this very moment...it's funny to pull over car listen to pearl jam and look on all those morons rushin somewhere for no reason.
To say this song means more to me after dad died last month is an understatement to say the least, but Eddie just knows how to put emotions to words better than anyone. Wow...
@Skcharynd k ill help you out :). Black (from the classic "Ten" album) Yellow Ledbetter (sounds like Hendrix would've wrote it. great song) Better Man Corduroy Alive (up-beat ballad, long guitar solo etc.) Jeremy (PJ's most famous) Dissident Daughter Last Kiss (great song) Wish List Just Breathe (off the new album) Indifference Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town Given to Fly Immortality I Got S**t not really ballads, but Even Flow, Porch, Animal are famous
@Skcharynd here are some you might appreciate: hard to imagine ,long road thumbing my way, release, nothing as it seems, off he goes, oceans, throw your arms around me (great cover). hope you like them :)
@Skcharynd You have a lot of catching up to do. I know I'm not the only one here that can say Pearl Jam is something that I grew up with. It's the fabric of my life. I can here on PJ song and it will remind me of something. Or I every time I hear Immortality, it brings my back to where I kissed my now wife for the first time in her bedroom when we were 17.(34 now). You're just going to have to do things while listening to PJ. Something will stick.
The most solemn song I've ever heard. I'd want it played it played at my funeral, except that I wouldn't be there to here it and my family wouldn't appreciate it. I know...I'll have it played for my father...when his time comes. He's 88.
If you have posted a negative comment to this song, come back in 20 years and see if you feel the same.
É dificil de explicar, mas ouvir Paerl Jam tem me deixado triste ultimamente... É estranho pq as musicas deles me fazem lembrar você... Lais Ortiz....
@gorooo Dont fuckin listen to release then, unless you want it to hit you more. My dad has been dead for 6 years this april fools day, and that song fuckin hits me every time i hear it 25 years old or not... holy shit,

i dont understand how people in Prague have any idea what Eddie Vedder is saying. Same goes for Milan, Paris, Barcelona, everywhere. How the f*** do so many people speak English in those loser countries? They always sell out in giant soccer stadiums! Imagine if a band from Prague came here and tried to sell out the Rose Bowl. Hahah it makes no sense.
While I can see your point, Its the same as Rammstein coming to America and Touring. They are hands down my favorite band and I speak very little German. Its so much more then just the lyrics.
the thing is you americans think everything is about you. You 'homerandflanders' make your people look bad, but i know everybody isn't like you son. You're mind is so narrow you can't understand different cultures. By the way, i'm from ARGENTINA and i understand every single word in Veder's lyrics. Do you even know where ARGENTINA is?
"those loser countries" - How ignorant can you get???
It's ignorant tossers like you that are the reason America is universally hated.
There are plenty of good Americans out there (Eddie and the rest of the band for example), but they are dangerously outnumbered by the "God Bless America" wankers that we all know and loathe.
It only takes one idiot to turn something this beautiful into another goddamned flaming contest. This isn't why YouTube created the comments system, so shut your trap and enjoy the song, because Eddie and the band put a lot more time and thought into it than you put into your comments.
I cry every time I hear this song, because it reminds me of the night my father passed away three years ago. I am planning on making a slideshow of pictures of him set to this song someday. He was a great man, and this is a great song performed by a great band.
