Ok so on there web site it said it is only used when going under 18mph, who the fuck drives under 18 in the city. You will get rear ended before you hit the person in front of you in LA

I doubt that you stick to a steady 30 or whatever in a busy city street. In saying this, there is another similar system that can attempt to prevent a crash at higher speeds available with the XC60 (among other Volvo models).

That's a dumb question, if some idiot decides not to brake then he gets what ever happens. Don't blame a car maker for someone else's own stupidity. They just made a new feature that "helps, and assists" people when they aren't paying attention to the road to avoid a small collision. What happens when the world doesn't ask stupid, questions and take responsibility for their own actions instead of blaming it on someone else, guess we'll never find out.

....its to help people that can't drive to begin with, if it broke its not the companies fault for what ever happens, its the fault of the idiot driving who didn't care to brake because he wasn't paying attention or decided the car will do it for him. Don't blame someone for coming up with an added safety feature, blame the idiot that requires it's assistance or depends on it because they payed off the DPS to get their license. They should take responsibility for their own actions.

I have to agree. I will NOT let go of my my 240 because it has never let me down, neither has my V90 so far. But my S80 I had to get rid of because of the crappy GM transmission they put in it--it also had a host of computers in it, one of which controlled my turn signals, and kept the signal on no matter what--to reset it, I would have to disconnect the battery--odd and fustrating. 240's rock!

its not made to stop the car for you.Its for emergences incase.Say your driving and you stop and you hit the brakes and not city safety.You then get rear ended your brakes will release because you get hit and your foot lifts off the brakes.Then city saftey actavates and you dont hit the car in front of you da.Thats what saves your car from MAJOR damage.And the bumper is made to crumple that you dont alot of $in damage.and it doesnt stop for anething then a car shape(doesnt stop humands,bicicles)

I cannot imagine how you think the driver would be dead because of a bird. For one, the system just stops the car when it detects something in front of it. Second it only reacts to objects that are fairly large and remain in front of the vehicle, as opposed to flying quickly past the front.

oh im not saying it has to be the same car. just saying like if theres a civic behind the xc60. if the xc60 auto. slam on the brakes, the civic doesnt have that tech. so the civic would slam there brakes and probably hit the xc60.

Good. honda sucks. Glad I drive an Suv. Even yesterday. Some idiot in a mazda pulled out infront of my yukon xl. I sided him. His car is not toast and I drove home and just need a new bumper. He he he, Which is why I will always drive an SUV or truck.
