So instead of putting this kid into some kind of program to help him maybe gain a skill and become a more productive member of society; the judge sentences him to 8 years in a state prison where he will most likely be sodomized and beaten on a regular basis. Now he will be psychologically tortured, and to be sure, educated as to how to be a better criminal for committing a non-violent crime. Way to go judge, way to go.

8 years? it costs over 50,000 a year to house an inmate thats almost a half million dollars to put some kid away for writing on a wall with a marker. How on earth can you sentence someone for 24 years in jail for a minor thing like this?? I agree that it will take more than a just slap to correct behavior like this but to take away 24 years of someones life is a 'bit' steep. This has nothing to do with justice, this is narrow minded ruling. Make him pay double for all damages and make him serve the community by cleaning the streets for a reasonable time. This is madness, his life is ruined coz of 5.000 dollars of damage he caused.

@mattg30380003 One of my good friends is a lawyer. Some small criminal defense cases but mostly family court. She's one of the nicest most generous and genuine people I know. I think that the prosecutor has probably been an asshole since childhood. Probably a bully in school and just loves to hand out injustice like this. Same goes for the judge.
