God says that a man who commits adultery should be put to death.

Jesus said you judge a tree by its fruit.

God put David's son to death for his sin with Bathsheba, thereby breaking two of his own laws.

You need no God or religion to know right from wrong. It is common sense that right is good and wrong is bad. People use God or religion to make bad things seem to be God's Will. Thus slavery, segregation, discrimination in general. If God is "on the side" of the wrong doers, then the wrong doers can have a clear conscience.
