@lejeune1945 I believe this is the Cadence recording, on which Archie Bleyer himself, I have read, played that rhythm part on Coke bottles with a spoon or something!
The Osborne Brothers also do an excellent brother duet of this song. The harmonies of the Everly Brothers are out of this world. Would love to hear the EB do this with some fiddle and mandolin behind them!
I look forward to the day that I can visit Kentucky, meet the people, see the sights, hear the music and possibly join in if I take my guitar.Visit where Paradise and Brownsville once lay--we have "Opencast Mining"near to where I live in Coalville-Leicestershire,and I love John Prides' song "Paradise".
Thanks for posting, do you ever wake up in the morning & have a song in your mind that stays with you all day, I woke up this mornin` with this one on my mind, Frank from the U.K. thanks again
that's why I love these boys...they love old KY, and I love them for it! Everly Brothers, I am your humble servant from Green County, Ky! You guys are my heros! I will always defend you guys!
I have only been to KY. once, just beautiful! It has significant meaning to me as my earliest American ancestor was born there in 1818! Later his sons were in the Civil War,and one was killed, and the other my great-grandpa!So my roots run deep in this beautiful state!Thanxs much!
AWESOME....what beautiful harmony always with these two but there's just something about it here that sure stands out! Maybe it because my Dad loved this song since he was born in Ky, Thanks so much "justmusicandme" for sharing this with me my sweet friend..:) And a big THANKS to Rock1945 for posting it. All the stars5***** and Millions more !!
Bless you for sharing this with me! There's nothing more beautiful than a late 50's Everly tune. Makes me wish I had some undiscovered, distant relatives living in Kentucky. Thank you so much for posting, Rock1945!
@thousandsmiles1 : REPLY: Monika: The people of Kentucky are so friendly, they would welcome you with a Thousand Smiles! They are very proud of the Everly Brothers in Central City, KY, and they love to have visitors!
Going back home to Kentucky tomorrow after a brief sojourn in Cleveland. This seemed appropriate. Great pictures.

Beautiful rendition, but there's a "Somebody" who has to be in on the act with that annoying tambourine!

I never heard this version by Phil and Don. Must be semi-rare.
It reflects their origins in the hamlet of Brownie, KY, where a demo record played on the jukebox of their Aunt Dimples restaurant.

WOW, this brings back
Memories of a great concert in The Melody-Tent on
Cape Cod, Mass. USA
. By my All Time Favorites,
The Everly Brothers,
on a warm August-Night 1990... And the Brothers opened with
this song !!!!
Don and Phil just had signed a painting of them for me at the start of the concert..
I BLESS THE DAY !!!
