  • hey man do you need a stall torque? how is it for low end power?

  • How drivable is the car around town with this cam?

    Thanks

  • @montecarlo409 It's great around town!

  • hey man whats the size of the cam

have a 67 mustang i wanna put the cam and lifters, ur engine sounds awesome dude

  • @warning2408 Thumpr Camshaft 287/ 305, Lift .489/ .476

  • i love that just bearly runnin sound

  • I like when a cam is idled low. But in automatic transmission and disc brakes vehicles u cant cuz it'll fall dead during braking. And a vehicle idling low will not make it load up.

  • @1txpipeliner oh brother... no, stepping on the brakes will not kill it because the vacuum assist will actually let more air into the engine momentarily (as long as the idle isnt so low that the drag from the torque converter doesnt stall it). and yes, a cammed vehicle will load up with fuel.

  • @1txpipeliner I Experienced That a Couple Of Times I Have A Magnum 292 Comp Cam In My 85 El Camino.

  • Your camaro is beautiful!

  • what size carb????

  • OH yea!!!!!!!!!!!!!! awsome

  • Awesome!

  • What are you idling at? Sounds too low. Gonna load up.

  • I have bumped the idle up a bit since I made this video

  • @cmcamaro96 I love how it sounds like it will shut down the whole time!

  • this is how a muscle car should sound, nice and choppy at idle

  • @sunbirdse93 Yeah I agree. I laugh out loud every time some skinny little shit rolls up next to me with his rice grinder and a soup can muffler....thinks he's got a hot car. He revs his....I rev mine....he rolls his window back up.

  • The new camaro's wish they could live up to be something like this (plastic pieces of sh*t).

  • @ladygodia that's very true, my parents offered to trade in our 1969 Camaro SS on a new Camaro for my 18th birthday. and I went and looked at them, I was not impressed at all, that bumper is very flimzy, very cheaply made car. and I stuck with our 69, and I am very glad I did, mine is a true x55 SS350 with matching #s, which I assume this one is too, Mine sat for 19 years in our garage without any movement or even turning the engine over, and we just added gas and it started right up and drives.

  • Thats a bad Mutha.....

  • wow that sounds amazing..

  • bottom of the S's are bigger. dont feel bad at all. i saw ''dozens go through barrett jackson with upsidedown SS's. -- i can spot an upside down SS emblem at 50 paces. :) --- i like that camaro!!

  • love the cam! NICE car!!

now put that rear SS emblem 'right side UP! :)

  • Thanks! Huh?, never noticed that, the guy who painted the car must have put it on there wrong. I took it off and was flipping it around. It looks slightly different, but when I look at it close I cant figure out what the difference from top to bottom is. The only thing I can see is that the top of the S is ever so slightly more rounded then the bottom. Let me know?

  • @cmcamaro96 I bealieve the top of the SS is a little bit more narrow then the bottom.

  • @byronchatfield it is right side up

  • are you running a vaccum cannister for that big cam?

  • @ericg83z No, it breaks with no problem

  • i love that choppy idle

  • hope you keep the quadrajet on it and dont put a leaky metering block, power valve blowing, warped accelerater pump, cant hold a idle mixture for crap P.O.S. Holley on it! Q-JETS are great peformers,Great economy Carbs! A lot of mods can be done to them if you understand how they work. They are simple if you get them. They have a bad rap ( quadrajunk-quadrabog ex....) from all the holley speed racers out there who dont understand carbration at all. nice ss love old american muscle pushrod cars

  • I'm keeping the carb on there, it is a freshly rebuilt 72 model. It works great now that I have it tuned well for my setup. I adjusted the float some and also drilled small holes in the primary flaps to allow more Air at idle, to compensate for the big cam. Thanks man!

  • @cmcamaro96 is it true u can take a quadrajunk 4barrel and make 1050cfm out of it?

  • Not sure, I haven't heard of anything like that. I'm sure you could Google it and find out.

  • @cmcamaro96 they said that on muscle car one sunday and idk if i believe it

  • @ericg83z Interesting, I'm sure anything is possible:)

  • sounds really good, what size exhaust is that ? does it have and x or h pipe?

  • Its 2 1/2 inch pipe, dual exhaust with an H-Pipe

  • Nice car!

  • Your car sounds GREAT !!!

  • Do you have 9.1 compression ? or will this cam work on 10.2.1 compression

    Thanks

  • Honestly I'm not sure of my compression ratio. From what I have read it works better with higher compression. 10.2:1 should be perfect.

  • Honestly I'm not sure of my compression ratio. From what I have read it works better with higher compression. 10.2:1 should be perfect.

  • @cmcamaro96 Thanks I just order it.

  • its funny 287/305,489,476 my lunati it in 268/276 with 4.98./5.04,

  • Beautiful Camaro

The color & Sound are perfect!

  • What's your idle rpm?

  • It was running at around 700 RPM. currently I'm running it around 900 RPM

  • @cmcamaro96 what color is that? i really like it with the stripes it flows nicely

  • cortez silver

  • sounds fucking great man

  • SWEET! Sounds beautiful bruh. I have a GM Performance HO Deluxe crate. Im thinkin about this cam. Thanks for sharing...

  • nice, either way.

  • And The Heavins open to shine a single ray of Wickedness!!!

  • why does it have such a small exhaust for an engine of size like this ??

  • Standard dual exhaust system with flowmasters. The dual exhaust system is plenty of flow for my setup.

  • what size carb are you running on this?

  • I love that lope.

  • Love your car. Whats your rpm range with this cam & is te car streetable as in good low/ high end tourque?

  • It has excellent low end torque! 1500 to 6000 is the power range. Works great with my 4 speed. Not sure how it would be with an automatic. You might need to get a higher stall converter.

  • I love tha way it sounds! I want tha exact camshaft! How u think it will run in my car i have a 76 cutlass, 400 chevy with vortec heads, flat top pistons, 3000 converter, 410 gear, 2 an ahalf stainless exhaust... Heres tha catch im puttin quiet mufflers on it but i want that camshaft what u think?

  • I'm sure it would work great!

  • what kinda head work have you done?

  • Not sure, I didn't build the motor. All I know is it works well with what I have.

  • what kind of head work has been done...i know comp cams sells a full kit for like 336 and some change...is that what your talkn about

  • How are the brakes?

  • They work well, no issues

  • is it possible to install this cam in a 305 with 350 heads?

  • @GAG91690 Not sure, I would contact Comp Cams or go on Summit Racing's site and search cams for a 305.

  • is it possible to put this cam in a 305 with 350 heads?

  • thats alot of duration whats the lsa?

    heads?

thats too much cam for a stock 350 block but it sounds gnarly

  • @Theturbo6guy 107 LSA, I disagree the cam is very street-able and makes great power. Alot more power then my previous CC 268. The motor has been bored and has had head work done to it. It's not exactly stock.

  • Dream car! A heavy, choppy, idle is a must in all muscle cars I think :) :} My current project car is a 1990 Ford (gasp!) Mustang 5.0 GT Convertible standard. I eventually want to swap the engine for one that can handle an E303 cam. Although, it still sounds nice thanks to the fairly decent exhaust system :)

  • whats the duration and lift on the cam

  • @cyfootball7 287/ 305, Lift .489/ .476

  • how big of a lift is the cam and duration

  • Sounds nice! But I'll stick with my small block 400. 350's are too common.

  • how did you match a mutha thumper with stock hesds?...i dont get it

  • beautiful camaro

  • sounds amazing!

  • wow. amazing sound!

  • thank god were american,,love the car it sounds awsome

  • Nice car but one thing i can't stand is those BF GOODRICH tire.. please put the black side out..

almost everyone on cars like that have those tires?

    thanks 4 sharing..

  • hey someone can explain me how competition cams work? My 1970 camaro z28 has them in its engine, it is also oversized. how much power competition cams usually add and what about oversizing an engine. shes on my page if you want to check her out. Very nice car btw i need to get those exhausts.

  • sounds awesome do u have any head work done or stock heads what kind of carb high stall at all

  • I didn't build the engine, so I'm not sure. I think they are stock heads.

  • sounds awesome do u have any head work done or stock heads what kind of carb

  • switch to a different carb setup! You will love it! I had an edelbrock on my original 350. now am running a mighty demon 750 on a 383 stroker w/ afr heads. The carb is amazing! If you were to put a 650 demon or holley on there you would pick up 15 hp i bet!

  • I just might:)

  • @69CRUZR not nessicarily, i had a demon 750 on my camaro , it had a 350 and tht carb was way to fuckin big, id go to step on tha gas, it would always pop, and not every accelerate, now i got a 600 edlebrock, and the shit has so much more horsepower, god its amazing, but write me back and let me know what u think, whats ur input

  • @bloodsflycripzdie thats cuz a demon 750 is way too big for a mild 350, anything less than an all out race 350 spinning 8K RPM. My mighty demon 750 actually flows in the 875 cfm range.. they measure it differently than eddy. check it out, wet flow vs dry. you needed a 600 or 650 carb! but if your camaro is a street cruiser, theres nothing bad about eddy. they are easy to maintain, run right out of the box, and have no headaches involved. but thats not how ya make peak hp....

  • @69CRUZR 650 cfm is too small for a 383 or 400 small block. Use edlebrack performer RPM intake and Holley 800 to 850 cfm dbl pumper. these bigger small blocks like to breathe. don't think "350" when building a stroker 383 or 400. think Big Block! also use minimum 1 3/4 headers.

  • @kenzo5716 check my dyno video Im well aware of what my 383 needs. and an 850 is WAY too big unless its striclty a drag car running 7500 rpm. The person I was talking to when I said 600 or 650 was talking about a mild 350, which is why I said that. My 383 runs a mighty demon 750 and I surely wouldnt go any bigger, it would only run worse. I used a Weiand stealth "air strike" intake, which is like the air gap but better. check my vids, Ive built 3 small blocks and know what Im doing :)

  • @69CRUZR After building over a dozen of these motors for customers (street & strip) and racing them successfully, I would say that our experiences on the dyno and in actual, practicle use are totally different. We certainly agree to disagree!

  • This is the 2nd video with the Thumpr and Flowmaster 40's that I've seen. God this sounds so good lol. Just ordered a Thumpr kit from Jeg's earlier today :) Gorgeous Camaro by the way man. You have a real classic right there. DON'T EVER SELL IT!!! lol

  • Thanks man! I don't plan on selling it. Have fun with the setup!

  • ahh i miss these old cars, fuck japan

  • @adamberg666 i agree

  • @rynomanonetwo12 i agree as well 2 thumbs up

  • True!

  • @adamberg666 We tried nuking them, but that didn't knock any sense into their car manufacturers.

  • @Imakeplanesboom Lol hell yea, and now they're our bitches.

  • just woundering what had to be changed in the top end if anything to run this cam

  • I didn't anything, but my motor was already built up. They do recommend upgrading from the stock springs and it run best with 9:1 compression.

  • i agree with CM......i have a ZZ4 crate motor that i just installed this camshaft in (although mine is a hydraulic roller instead of a flat tappet) this cam makes such great power.......your motor will make plenty of HP and torque......with the rpm range to only 6100 rpm.....this things is a VERY streetable cam......i have a video of mine on here as well....under Nova......

  • She's hittin a lick (:

  • you need a holley

  • I'm thinking about it :)

  • it may sound bad as hell, but without the appropriate complimentary mods, that cam is going to hurt your performance... Going for the biggest cam available on the shelf is a bad idea. without good flowing heads, intake, upgraded carb and exhaust, this cam is not going to improve the performance of the engine. the torque curve is going to go way up out of the useable range, and the peak performance rpm range of the cam is gonna be way above the effective flow rate of the heads. So Sad...

  • Not true, The Cam works really well with my motor. I had a Comp 268H in it before and I have noticed a big performance increase.

  • @bigorangetrucker QUIT HATIN' LIKE A PACK OF HOE'S

  • @bigorangetrucker Sooo like..what would you suggest for a 292 comp cam on a 302ci?

    Pleasee tell me :o.

  • if the other components of the engine are built to match the cam... then yes. I would even put a 305H in a 302. granted it would be a 11.0:1 cr or more and run on race gas, but if the rotating assembly is built properly you could spin that engine to 7k and make a shit ton of power.

you can run any cam in any engine, but the rest of the motor has to be built to match the components that you put in it...

  • i just did a build on camquest with a 302 and a 305H, 555hp at 7000 rpms, 480 tq at 5500 rpms. does that answer your question?

  • @fortynineohfive get rid of the dam ford motor is wat i recomend

  • Ford motor?

  • @cmcamaro96 i was pyplying to this dude that caron the vid better have a chevy motor lol

  • @AHH:) OK

  • That Q-jet needs work. too much cam for that carw without the proper mods

  • Yeah, and all the rest are just boat anchors.

  • Comment removed

  • All Shiivyy's with a big cam sound like some old plywood boat--which = SH$%

  • jealous much? lol

  • bad ass

  • how does this cam perform because i was wanting to put this cam in my 383 for my chevelle?

  • Wat size cam u got n there

  • 287/ 305, Lift .489/ .476 106 LSA

  • is that at .050?

  • ok metalmulisha19 you really don't understand engines, running at 500 rpm will not fry it unless it's not broke in, the reason an engine has to be run at 2000 on break in is because the cam has to get oil on it as soon as possible so the high idle keeps fresh oil splashing on it till its soaked, after that you can run low rpm and it'll be fine

  • That's correct, the cam had already been broken in correctly.

  • I run a machine shop so I occasionally like to get on here and read the stuff that guys put on here, they don't know half the stuff they claim to know lol

  • @1986supernova

wow. you must be really important...

  • ill give you both of my nuts for that car!

  • Yeah, running the cam at RPM that low will fry it!

  • what idle rpm do you have it set at?

  • It was probably running at about 500 rpm. I have since bumped up the idle and reduced the timing, seems to run better now.

  • I have plans to buy a Thumpr the beginning of next week, so I fugured I'd research some vids. This one TOTALLY made up my mind. Sick car man!

  • would a bigger vacuum canister help with the brakes? and did you have to use an adapter to put the quadrajet on that intake? im rebuilding my truck motor and im going to get the mutha thumpr cam kit for it but im not sure if i can get away with my 8.5 to 1 comp ratio or not but im glad to see the q jet will be able to work just fine with that cam

  • The brakes are decent, I wouldnt change anything. My edelbrock Proformer fits all types of carbs, no adapter needed. Not sure exactly what the comp ratio on my motor is, however I know its not more then 9:1 and it works fine.

  • thx for the answers im thinking of going a diff route with the truck and getting a late 80's nissan or toyota pick up and put a 350 in it and just rebuild my truck motor and get rid of the three on the tree for a 5 speed so its better at towing cause i found myself towing cars to much with it to move the power band higher but none the less beautiful sounding camaro bro

  • We're looking for a cam for our '64 Impala, and uh... I think I like yours. ;)

  • sounds good what the number and specs of the comp cam please

  • 287/ 305, Lift .489/ .476

  • did you go with the whole kit: cam, lifters, double roller timing set, valve springs retainers, locks and seals? I am going with a thumpr cam on my 68 400 firebird.

  • The motor was just rebuilt with about 1000 miles on it. It already had a double roller timing set and tougher springs. I put in new lifter, that is a must with a new cam.

  • The motor had just been rebuilt, it had a double roller timing chain and tougher springs. New lifters are a must with a new cam though.

  • sorry ricers cant beat american muscle pushrod motors

  • nice car man!

  • Sweet car

  • quadrajet good carrb

  • thats the truth! qjets are the best carbs i LOVE them. crazy throttle response. powerful secondaries. and mpg.. makes me sick to drive an edelbrock or carter

  • how much vacuum, enough for brakes?

  • Brakes fine, however if I let it idle too long with the clutch in right before a stop, braking can become a little scary.

  • I love that lope, sounds nice man.

  • Thanks

  • It sounds good! Do you have a cross or H-pipe in your exhaust? I have the same cam in my Vette with flowmasters but it sounds like crap until it warms up and I'm thinking I need a balance pipe...

  • Thanks! Yeah, I have an H-Pipe

  • I just installed this cam in my 87 Monte Carlo SS, do you have any problems with it idling after its warmed up. Mine runs fine at start up wants to stall out at stop signs or red lights. I think its a vacuum leak but i cant find it.

  • Yeah it definitely idles rough. I have a four speed in my car so its easy to give it a little gas while sitting at a stop light if it feels like its going to die on me. I could see the cam being difficult with an auto trans. Try adjusting you idle screw, bump up the idle a little. should help the problem.

  • what kind of carb is in it?

  • Rochester Q- Jet

  • Nice car and it sounds great. What type of converter did you use with it?

  • No converters, they weren't required in 69, just Flowmaster 40's

  • I'm pretty sure he was asking whether or not you used a stall converter in the transmission or not, and if so, what size.

  • Its a 4 speed, no converter

  • Nice ride.:)

I'm planning on ordering a "Mutha Thumpr" cam soon for my carbed 85 Vette. Running a C.C. 268 in it now, but can't wait to get the Mutha in there.

    Thanks for the clip.

  • Thanks, I had a 268 in the car before, it sounded good, but the idle wasn't rough enough for me. Get the Thumpr it sounds much better and performs better too!
