The crime was committed in New York's 1st Judicial Dept., and by etiquette it should only have been heard in the same jurisdiction. They might as well have heard the case in Canada (maybe they'd have gotten a conviction)!
It just goes to show that for people of color there's no such thing as justice in America.
And it doesn't matter which side of the Atlantic Ocean you're from.
