Do the different colors mean different weights? I've seen you juggle with blue russians, yellow russians, orange russians, etc... Did you color code them for different weights, for different types of tricks?
1 question: even though you're an amazing 10 ball juggler, Can you pull off 10 ball flashes everytime, or was this just a lucky run? I mean, every 50 attempts how many would you say could be qualifies, how many flashes, and how many utter fails? Amazing stuff by the way. Keep up the good work.
@jlspma The consistency of my 10 balls varies very greatly. For example, having not practiced 10 in a while, it would probably be pretty bad if I tried it now. However, in the few minutes before setting the world record a majority of the attempts were at least a qualifying amount of throws.
@MrMonicanarula17 The old 10 ball world record held by Bruce Sarafian was in this same exact pattern, although we both prefer to call it "crossing synchronous" :P
@juggler4rent BTW thank you for posting these videos. my 6 and 8 ball personal records are both done using crossing synchronous and they'd both be a lot lower if I hadn't gotten the idea to try it because of your videos... so thanks. :P
How does the 10 ball world record work? Can the juggler use any pattern or is this record specific to (10x,10x)? I'm asking because Alexander Koblikov can do siteswap [55] for a long time (and has also done a 10up 360 like this). You can see him in the video "Were is Petter" here on youtube if you don't know what I'm talking about.
Amazing job on breaking a world record that has stood for 10 years!!! Also, according to JISCON rules (used for the Wikipedia page), it appears to be only 26 catches, since catches are only counted until a drop occurs, and "a drop is considered to have happened at the moment the object should have been caught or touched, not when it hits the ground." #27 should have been caught when it bounced/slipped through your hands, which was before the catch of #28, so #28 is not counted.
David, as I already said, major props to you. However, I think that in most competitive situations, this would count as 26 catches. It appears to me that the last catch is not truly made until after the dropped ball hits the floor. This is at least the IJA way of counting.
@TNorbiSBW I was switching off between these and the blue ones, but I was only getting good runs with these. I haven't broken in the blue ones enough yet.
@JugglerForJesus I totally disagree; he dropped number 28, it doesn't matter whether it hit the ground before he caught number 27. He caught the first 27 and missed the 28th, what is there to dispute??
@IRNjuggle28 Those are just the rules. I would say I didn't write them, but I actually did, at least for the IJA. JIS-CON rules are even stricter, so by either standard it's 26 catches. It's still wicked cool and a new world record.
Congrats. I knew you would do it soon. Just think, for the moment you have not only the ten ball record, but also the overall ball record as Alex hasn't qualified 11 on video yet. Well done.
@ltsjack I can get the 5 balls going while holding 11, but I can't launch 11 with any hope of catching them. I'd have to wimp out to beanbags for 11 or 12.
@ltsjack I made the switch when my 8 ball record was around 22 catches. I went from using 2.25 inch beanbags from and under and 2 inch beanbags for 8 and 9, to using 3.2 inch Russians for everything.

@jlspma I saw a video of him practicing 10 for a while, and he flashes it pretty often. At least every 5 runs, I would think.

Very nice. However I do question your starting the pattern.

@TIKIMAN198 Unlike most numbers jugglers, I'm using 3.2 inch Russian style balls, so I can't physically throw more than 4 out of each hand.

Wimpy pattern?
1234fivesixseven8 6 months ago
Are you sure its not 27? in wimpy you throw them at the same time so it doesn't matter if you dropped the ball from right hand, it's still 27

Hey, nice work, that's insane!!! I counted 28 throws with 27 catches, not 26! Maybe you should check it again, I'm pretty sure you got 27!
jplanejazz 8 months ago
@jplanejazz It was a synchronous pattern but one throw was slightly lower. Number 27 hit the ground before 28 was caught.

@drchicken3000 Alexander uses multiplexes, the rules for numbers juggling state that you can only throw one ball out of each hand at a time.

juggler4rent 9 months ago
@juggler4rent Have you experimented 11 balls with your russians?
Same start as 10 only you have another ball at your left foot that you kick up into 5 balls cascade with 3 extra balls in each hand`?
ltsjack 9 months ago
@ltsjack I can get the 5 balls going while holding 11, but I can't launch 11 with any hope of catching them. I'd have to wimp out to beanbags for 11 or 12.
juggler4rent 9 months ago
@juggler4rent That's too bad :(
Would've looked cool. Why go for beanbags though, can't you just use smaller russians?
ltsjack 9 months ago
@ltsjack Beanbags would be easier, small russians are tough to throw accurately and are also hard to catch.
juggler4rent 9 months ago
@juggler4rent I see, so have you ever juggled bean bags before? When did you make the switch to russians?
ltsjack 9 months ago
