  • One third to 45% is the usual contingency fee. But the lawyer is taking all the risk on your case. If you lose, you do not pay any legal fee nor do you have to pay any of the lawyer's case expenses (which can be very high). Another thing to remember is that 45% of 0 is still 0. What I mean is you should not get hung up on the cost of a lawyer if you are not recovering any money without a lawyer. In most cases a lawyer will increase your recovery by more than his fee.

  • by the way, what is a good percentage that a lawyer takes? like what's the average, and what's too hight???
