I love this motorcycle, but I find it kinda sad that it doesn't sound like a Harley Davidson, I think the engine sound is becoming to soft.... but anyway it's still an awesome bike.

Yes harleys are heavy and slow and underpowered and get terrible gas mileage, but they're still fun to ride. And having owned both, I'll say that I didn't buy the harley to race it. I bought it for the same reason you'd by a a 68 Eldorado. It looks awesome and the ride is.....so choice.

Sportsters are utter shit. Mine has rusted so bad Ive gotta get it all repainted. The rear mudguard rusted, the chrome fell off the rear wheel, mirrors bubbled, the laquer on forks failed and the alloy corroded, the chainguard rusted, front rim rusted through etc. My Sportster is an 04 and is kept in a garage. The metal has only one coat of (shit) paint with no primer. It has no chance against UK weather. Come on HD pull your fucking socks up

If anybody wants a good solid bike, get an HD. The aftermarket parts availability is the greatest thing too, so you can make it YOUR bike. Not to mention when you sell it, you'll get back most, if not all your money, so it's like free ownership besides tires. The only mods you can make to a Ricer, is a pipe, and put a bunch of stickers over your scratches from all your crashes.When you go to sell it, your lucky if you get 35% of what it cost you.

883's are fun to ride, you can cruise at 85-90 mph on the highway with no problem. Slow, leak oil,no brakes??? how old was your bike? You must be talking about the 60's, all bikes did that then. Try a 1200sporty with the newer evolution engine, stage 2 set up. It's not a rice rocket but it has some guts in it. 40-50 mpg as well.

I've always liked the sound and torque delivery of Harleys. I have a licence to ride any bike. I have been riding for thirteen years now and ride about on an old CG125. Harleys must be expensive to run and maintain. If I had one I would never use it to its full potential.
In the UK, a helmet has to be worn at all times. Some countries in Europe that aren't part of the EU such as Turkey, you don't have to wear a helmet. But in countries that are part of the EU such as Sweden, Germany etc you have to wear a helmet. However, in the UK if you wish to ride a trike or quad, strangely enough, you don't have to wear a helmet, but I would because you still lack to protection compared to a car. If you ride a motorcycle with side car, a helmet still has to be worn.
Hi...Pretty sure that this is the 3.3 gallon tank....The bike is a '99 and i bought it last year...I thought that this is how they came as standard but that was just a guess as it has standard pipes so i assumed everything else was standard also....Happy riding!
Hello! People think the 883 is just some "baby Harley" when in fact, as can be seen by the video, it's a low rpm, fully capable bike with a big bike manners. The fuel tank and the seat height may be smaller and lower than usual, but other than that it's all Harley! In the USA, 883's have always been bargains. I remember when you could get one NEW for under $4000!
Hi....Maximum speed for a sportster 883 standard is about 110mph...maybe more if you're lucky....The speed on the video was 60mph..legal limit on this road in the UK..All the best..
How did you do the camera work? Did you hold the camera or did you mount it to yourself? I'm thinking about mounting mine on an old helmet. Sure it'll be goofy looking but don't know how else to do it riding solo...

@macdaddy1600 As far as GP and Drag motorcycle racing is concerned, The Jap companies lobbied to change the rules after HD started racing their Buells against them, Why? They kept losing. Who wins the Motorcycle drags every season? The Harleys. So, since Buells are better bikes than the Jap bike of the same caliber, and Jap bikes are not as fast in a straight line as Harleys, and a HD Ultra is just as if not more reliable than any Jap bike, what sets all of them apart? Price. Japs are cheaper.

@macdaddy1600 Your sport bike will cost you over $12K after you finance. A Sportster will too. A GSX-R 600, R6, or CBR 600 all cost more than an 883 Iron, and the other XL883 models. Usually as you ride a bike it drops significantly in value. Harleys don't. Sport bikes you pay more for will be worth less than what I paid less for with the same amount of miles on them. You say Harleys are unreliable and over priced, Sport bikes break just as often, cost more, and have a lower resale value.

Harleys evolve just like other Vehicles companies. Porsche is a prime example. Every year they get better sticking with what they know. Find Name five 10 year old Jap bikes for $12K built by one company.

the sportster has to be the weakest bike ever. when i first started riding i had a 250 ninja. in the straights my buddy had me but in the curves it was no contest. i now have a 1125cr and z1000 still no contest.

Sportsters are utter shit. Mine has rusted so bad Ive gotta get it all repainted. The rear mudguard rusted, the chrome fell off the rear wheel, mirrors bubbled, the laquer on forks failed and the alloy corroded, the chainguard rusted, front rim rusted through etc. My Sportster is an 04 and is kept in a garage. The metal has only one coat of (shit) paint with no primer. It has no chance against UK weather. Come on HD pull your fucking socks up

If anybody wants a good solid bike, get an HD. The aftermarket parts availability is the greatest thing too, so you can make it YOUR bike. Not to mention when you sell it, you'll get back most, if not all your money, so it's like free ownership besides tires. The only mods you can make to a Ricer, is a pipe, and put a bunch of stickers over your scratches from all your crashes.When you go to sell it, your lucky if you get 35% of what it cost you.

Harleys are probably one of the best known bikes around, yeah they may not be the fastest but THEY ARE NOT SPORT BIKES so what are you expecting them to be? Is this a new model i was planning to get a Harley in a few months maybe 6 or so... so i was just wonderin if it's best to buy a new model ? i Was mainly thinking a -04 because i heard it's good but i might buy a 01 / 02 / 03 also.. what do you recommend?? and how hard is the gear handle i have feelt older models and they feel heavy, i'd like to have a smooth one due to fan of long rides but yet the Harley sound dominates :D

883's are fun to ride, you can cruise at 85-90 mph on the highway with no problem. Slow, leak oil,no brakes??? how old was your bike? You must be talking about the 60's, all bikes did that then. Try a 1200sporty with the newer evolution engine, stage 2 set up. It's not a rice rocket but it has some guts in it. 40-50 mpg as well.
You would probably bitch if you won the lottery but bought the ticket at the wrong store. Ride your rice rocket, who gives a rat's ass.

i once had the misfortune to own one of those things, such a bundle of junk, vibrated itself to bits, leaked oil, no brakes, didnt handle and so boring and slow, it was a pleasure to get back on my ancient honda cd175 after riding the harley, the tiny honda was ten times the bike of the harley, those harleys should be banned, only fit for a rubbish skip.

I've always liked the sound and torque delivery of Harleys. I have a licence to ride any bike. I have been riding for thirteen years now and ride about on an old CG125. Harleys must be expensive to run and maintain. If I had one I would never use it to its full potential.

In the UK, a helmet has to be worn at all times. Some countries in Europe that aren't part of the EU such as Turkey, you don't have to wear a helmet. But in countries that are part of the EU such as Sweden, Germany etc you have to wear a helmet. However, in the UK if you wish to ride a trike or quad, strangely enough, you don't have to wear a helmet, but I would because you still lack to protection compared to a car. If you ride a motorcycle with side car, a helmet still has to be worn.

Did you have to do anything to get the Custom bars, riser and speedometer housing to fit with the Peanut tank?
Normally that setup comes with the lower and wider 4.5 gallon tank. I always though it wout hit the taller 3.3 tank.

Hi...Pretty sure that this is the 3.3 gallon tank....The bike is a '99 and i bought it last year...I thought that this is how they came as standard but that was just a guess as it has standard pipes so i assumed everything else was standard also....Happy riding!

Hello! People think the 883 is just some "baby Harley" when in fact, as can be seen by the video, it's a low rpm, fully capable bike with a big bike manners. The fuel tank and the seat height may be smaller and lower than usual, but other than that it's all Harley! In the USA, 883's have always been bargains. I remember when you could get one NEW for under $4000!

Hi....Maximum speed for a sportster 883 standard is about 110mph...maybe more if you're lucky....The speed on the video was 60mph..legal limit on this road in the UK..All the best..
