  • hammer down on their luck. This movie wasn't even released in the usa outside of nyc's times square?

  • @monk22yrs I think they were just looking at expanding their market so they teamed with The Shaw Bros. Also I don't think the movie needed to be released anywhere else besides NYC's time square..that was grindhouse central.

  • @TheForgottenFlesh back in the late 1960s, THE EVIL OF FRANKENSTEIN and PHANTOM OF THE OPERA played on nbc, nationwide at 9 pm est...and in the 1970s, some other hammer movies played nationwide on cbs late night, at 1130 est.

    a book on andy milligan noted how all times square movie theaters were owned by only a couple people---and they didn't even care what they showed...! Some crap would get shown, over better stuff, cause of kickbacks/bribes.

    hammer used to be shown at kids matinees.
