songs i would have loved cliff to sing in his 70s vocals range,jimmy rankin-here in my heart,keith urban-making memonies of us,brad paisley-then,dierks bentley-gonna get there someday,mark knopfler-piper to the end,hanna mceuen-ocean,george strait-the breath you take,charlie landsborough-my father used to sing,rodney crowell-many a long and lonesome highway,alison krauss-a simple love all lovely songs.
love, best vol2,take me high,31st feb st,im nearly famous, every face, green light, small corners,im no hero, wired f sound, now you see me,silver, rock connection, always guaranteed, then his music choices went down hill from 1987,too much cheesy pop, dont get me wrong i bought it all to get him in the charts, bold as brass, soulicious,to me hes lost all the tune in his voice,i cant listen, only good cd in last 25 yrs somethings goin on but his voice wasnt good enough on that,im a big fan,but an honest fan
Some of the songs on the Soulicious album ought to go number 1 on the charts, namely "Saving a Life", "Don't Say You Love Me", "She Looked Good" and "I'm Your Puppet" -this album just keeps getting better and better for me. With no discredit to the other artist on the Album, Cliff Richard Rocks!
@ShakinJonny i found Bold as Brass boring actually but Soulicious is a great album -infact it's one of his best in a long time. -kinda Rocks! -you might want to check it out even if you don't like soul.
@oliverramen OK,.. Bold as Brass was boring?....then what about Robbie Williams´ "Swing when you´re winning"?,...or all of Michael Bublés stuff? What about, Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin?
Do you also find all such artists´ music boring?
If so, then it´s no wonder you found Cliffs CD boring. Then it´s not about Cliff, but about His choice of style on this album.
Now thats a matter of musical taste.
But as a big fan of the Las Vegas Bigband jazzswing music-style, I find "BAB" absolutly great.
@ShakinJonny Hi there ShakinJohnny, hope you are well. yup i think you are absolutly correct. but i actually like most of Michael Bubles stuff. i also enjoy Sinatra and Dean Martin, but BAB didnt really catch me. but if you enjoyed BAB then you're gonna love Soulicious, and when you consider Cliff's age throughout, you're gonna love it more. on BAB -"When i take my Sugar to Tea" and some of the other are okay, but Soulicious competes with a lot of modern artist -i hope it does well.
@ShakinJonny hi again, i'm sorry if i came across as if to imply that Cliff is boring, coz he is anything but boring. -i actually get upset when people sugest otherwise. Cliff ranks highest on my list of personal favorites 2nd only to the Beatles, John Lennon & Paul McCartney if not better than them in some instances. took another listen to BAB -some tracks will grow on you. Soulicious is getting better and better for me right now.
@Steve59990 i know what you mean! -amazing track isnt it? -will qualify as a club hit i think. some of these songs can compete comfortably with the younger artist on the charts at the moment i should think.
I was honored to actually witness some of the basic tracking of this CD. Recorded at Royal Studio in Memphis, Tn. A legendary line-up of musicians!! Greg Morrow and James Robertson on drums--Dave Smith on Bass--John Willis and Skip Pitts on Guitars-- Lester Snell on piano--Charles Hodges on Organ
- and Scherrie Payne of The Supremes is doing background vocals along with FLOS (former ladies of the Supremes) member Joyce Vincent and her sister Pam. The tracks are great - produced by Lamont Dozier of Holland/Dozier/Holland fame.

Clif is a truely great singer. No doubt he deserve to be where he is now.
BUT I´m not gonna buy this album,..simply because I don´t like soulmusic.
I bought his Bold as brass-album though, because I love bigband swing-music.

Teardrops with Candi Stanton would be a great single. Or Birds of a Feather with Peabo Bryson.
