  • It's sad to see child at this age facing the cold world that we living in. I think this lottery should not be for the respect of those who won't be picked up.

  • My youngest daughter was passing with good grades at public and parochial school yet scored low on standardized tests. I've been home schooling her for a little over a year and her improvement has been miraculous! I have to bounce around like a cheerleader and use manipulatives, but I'm amazed at the strides we've made. Best decision ever.

  • @TheJspyder136 Matisyahu is the artist

  • If it weren't for the "evil teachers' unions",

the "good, little children" would all go to the LIBRARY to STUDY and do their HOMEWORK!

They would also drink their milk and eat all their vegetables!

I'm still waiting for the T.V. reality show where Arne Duncan, Bill Gates, Michelle Rhee, Davis Guggenheim, et al. attempt to teach Remedial Math at a junior high in the inner-city!

    Ha!

  • its called the dumbing down of america. so that those in power( the blue bloods) can stay in power. even the police force and army pick only people who will tow the line. do and not ask. the rich want to stay rich. so they keep poeple enslaved. controled and stupit. even the teachers dont know the answers. they cant control the kids. parents r not aloud to smack there children. and the goverment dosent teach right from worng. it uses punishment to control. and fear to keep u in line.

  • When a 16 y.o. single mother who has had no education is pregnant with her 6th child, no system or education can do anything to really help that child!

  • The song is called one day

  • wats the song in the trailer called?

  • i dont get the part about number 1 in confidence

  • @playten I think it means they think they're are indestructable. Entitlement might also be something our kids are good at:(

  • @monkeydanny123 Actually... You are absolutely right. It's a waste of time and money. To take 12 years of school for you to learn the basics which are: reading, writing and math. Everything else you can learn on your own or in college. Maybe u should ask your parents about home school or something... IDK... Just try to enjoy school as long as u can though... meet people and stuff...

  • @TRYCLOPS1

Tell me how learning about the bristles of an earthworm is relevant in the big leagues when I have NO interest in being a biology major.

  • @monkeydanny123 Yeah... it's sad. There are classes in US schools that are so irrelevant, like French class... Who the hell needs to learn french unless you're studying French literature or you're going to visit France LOL. I think it's a pretty lame reason to learn a language just bcs it sounds cool. Spanish is more important since there are more places that speak Spanish and most ppl here speak Spanish anyway. School education needs to be re-designed for more efficiency and less time...

  • @TRYCLOPS1

    HANDS DOWN BRO!

  • What ever happened to the Feynmans, Schwingers, Sagens, and Godels???

  • Bill Gates is lookin oooolllllddd.

  • WÃTCH at GetMovie . Us ;)

  • Hey Guys, there are 2 pretty good zeitgeist documentaries, we should DO something about this problem, now.

  • Im sorry this is such Bullshit... This is Gods World Not Obamas world.

  • Education in America is about preserving the jobs of admin and teachers. Education is and always will be secondary to job security and preservation. Also, why did the biggest slackers and weed heads I went to HS with are teachers, cops, firemen, and mail men? It's not a hard one. The jobs that DO NOT reward talent are the ones that attract the dregs.

  • The real ugly truth is that it is all about money and power and as long as we keep the majority of society ignorant about it, nothing will ever change! As a human race we haven't evolved enough to create something greater than our crummy politics and superficial information. The real education would begin somewhere else!

  • what the fuck ?

  • Sounds like my school. The only way we could get in my high school was by the lottery..I got in because the day before it was time to go back o school, someone dropped out && my name was picked

its a good school..pretty hard work, but I love it.. I'm glad I got in :)

  • @connerkyle1 wavin flag

  • funny how geoffrey canada sait either "kids are getting stupider"

  • i really want to see this when it comes out. i thought of dropping out a couple of times but i stopped myself in believing in myself that i could do something and make a name for myself.

also i want to know wat song this is

  • @MisterBlueSky1000 Why did ppl flag you over this comment? Ppl are stupid! You're completely right. We live in weird times my friend. Parents don't encourage any respect on their children, yet they expect the teachers to deal with their bad behavior. A teacher can do so much having to deal with all that crap. They blame the schools and yeah, some are pretty bad, but the students are not quality either. A kid is 7 years old and he doesn't even know how to talk? Are you kidding me?!

  • i thought this is a movie about superman O_O"

  • @1stTeenSA This movie is about so much more.

  • Teach Critical Thinking. Think outside the Box.

  • its true i saw the paper it said how much did kids passo n there state test it was sad worst the last years

  • The roles of parent, counselor, police, form filler, advocate, healer, encourager, form filler, supreme example, secretary, peace maker, form filler, priest ( pastor-rabbi-imam-shaman...), motivator, and...teacher??...are all supposed to come together in one person (according to 'The System'). That would be The Teacher!

Talk about a Superman!!! No one person within any one system can measure up to those expectations! Teachers are supposed to be Superman, but The System is their kryptonite.

  • it pains me to hear that guy say stupider... not a word... it brings this trailer down

  • unions as always un levels the playing field and causes prices to rise .

  • It is a teacher's responsibility to teach skills. It is a parent's responsibility to know their child, then find their child's passion in life, and provide support for that child to chase his/her passion. There is no money in schools for field trips (exposing kids to something other than mom and dad plopped down in front of a tv or fighting in the bedroom). There is no money nor requirements for physical education, an outlet for stress and energy for kids. There is $ 4 ADMINISTRATOR SALARIES

  • Teacher's Union = Bad Education.

  • @Timmy0co If the answer was only as simple as the one who posted it seems to be.

  • @Timmy0co I agree. When I become a teacher, I may not end up in the public education system. Why? It is not because I don't want to teach the general population. In FACT my specialty is bilingual education. The system chokes you! It is terrible, and I am sorry but I would rather make 10k a year than join a teachers union. I would rather teach in the middle of nowhere in a foreign country and be paid in goatsmilk than be a part of that system.

  • Education hell: producing illiterate obese small monster!

Learn from Singapore: bring back discipline & cane!

  • I agree that teachers should be held to rigorous standards. One such way that you can raise the standards in a specific field is to raise the pay. Comparing teachers to doctors, doctors are paid such a high amount for a reason: they have a huge amount of education and there is a low acceptance of "bad" doctors. If we made teachers have more in depth education and then paid them according to their skill level, the standards would rise. All of the problems arise from money.

  • The fault with our educational system is not an easy one to place, but it can generally be based on the low amount of money schools have. It is a consistent statistic that schools with more of a tax base to support the district score higher on standardized tests and have a higher graduation rate. The one key thing that is killing our schools and the students in those schools is the lack of funding.

  • Yes parents are part of the problem. That can be solved by letting them keep their tax dollars that pay for their child's education. Then letting them decide what school they want to send their kids to. Then let THEM WRITE THE CHECK FOR IT. Then they would be interested.

  • I dont blame teachers!! these kids have NO respect for elders!! go to china and japan and worldwide and see how they dress act and talk!!!! they take education a nd knowledge seriously! these little lady gaga whores and sluts act like school is a freaken club, U HAVE NO RESPECT, KIDS WITH NO RESPECT WILL HAVE NO FUTURE! ghetto kids with no parents to teach them, white kids with drug addictions!! U WILL GO NOWHERE!

  • @markee871

    Simple have voucher system.

Have strict rules for kids. They break them, they are out.

Dont call the after class, special attention, call it "class for stupid kids"

So many parents these days are taking out loans to send their kids to private schools that compete and have rules. Why, because public schools are a failure. Blame the school unions.

  • @markee871 You know not everyone goest to school like its a joke. People do go to school to get an education. Open you fucking eyes!

  • @CRAZYGUY2500 That should be true all the time. But it is not.

  • society should not make teachers accountable for everything that goes wrong with children education. There are a lot of factors that affect a child education. for instance SES plays an important role in student learning. if a child does not have the basic needs to survive, the student is most likely to do poorly in school or even drop out!! why arent politicians worrying much about our education system? because it is very convenient for the top 1 or 2 % to keep the rest of us uneducated.

  • @lmarquez14

Why hold teachers responsible? Because private schools deal with it. They dont bother trying to help the trouble makers, they toss them out on their ass and call them stupid, and tell their parents they dont want them or their money.

Being rich doesnt get you educated. Discipline and consqequences does. It also gets you equality. THAT was what MLK was trying to teach from the beginning - not entitlement.

  • @jabberwolf TO begin with I dont like calling anyone stupid, I believe that every kid is capable of learning and should be entitled to a good education! it is so funny that you talk about equality when you agree with tossing struggling students out of school...is that equality?

  • @lmarquez14 - sadly, equality equals mediocrity. When it comes to intellect, we are not equal. Some people are smarter than others and should invest in them so that they can excel so that our nation can benefit from their genius. Dedicating excessive energy to the lowest common denominator makes us more compassionate but it is ultimately destructive to a society as a whole. Ref: Screwtape diaries: Epilogue

  • There are a lot of good teachers trying really hard to do their work, surrounded by the politics of the schools that at time do not support them in discipline and educating the parents who are children from broken families and broken schools too. Yes there are bad teachers, but to say that this is the only problem is wrong.Good teachers need the support of their principals and especailly of the parents, and at times parents are too busy dealing with very personal and social issues of their own.

  • @SHElBiiEx33 Matisyahu - One Day

  • @kesaonez Actually... I live in the netherlands: ( Top 3 list in education i noticed) And here kids are also listening to ipods and dressing the way they want. Nothing wrong with that. Mostly the parents brothers/sisters friends help the support a kid needs for education so they stay focused and know the importance of it themself to. But i am not concerned about the way kids dress up or the amount of discipline a kid have in school...

  • @CashinOnlineGuide Well said

  • @kesaonez I am more concerned about school systems and there education in general today! All around the world: Do these school systems really still WORK? To be more precise: Do they still really work for these kids to become successful in life, when making there effort to create a business, to become independent and so on and so on from TODAYS economy? Where the systems for a better future tomorrow for the next generation to come already... does NOT work anymore?

  • @kesaonez So what i am saying is.. Is that school systems should be changed the way they are structured to work today and should teached kids a future for more independence and success in todays economy so your kid can..well surfive!. Because..Pfff.. Fokes..Really..Do you really think we will achieve a solution with a 70´s schoolsystems in a 2010 Economy thats screams unsecured future not being independence, job loss, economy crisis every 24/7 doing it the old way = get degree and work J.O.B.?

  • Mjedallen, That is the reason parent put their children in school, IT IS YOUR JOB to teach them those things. Thats why you get your check. I practice with my children every night and I believe parents should help out, BUT some parents cant, and also what about the children with out parents?? You should RE-Write how you said that!

  • Mjedallen, That is the reason parent put their children in school, IT IS YOUR JOB to teach them those things. Thats why you get your check. I practice with my children every night and I believe parents should help out, BUT some parents cant, and also what about the children with out parents?? You should RE-Write how you said the!

  • I have worked in the district for 20 years. Go see this movie.

  • The reason every country is ahead of us is they have discipline in the system! This is never in discussion. They wear uniforms. Disciplined children!!!! Why can children walk around all day listening to a iPod that has songs full of profanity and that's ok as we know that's a major influence...no discipline. Horrible MTV shows are ok to influence children?????

  • @kesaonez in todays economy with these strengths every kid has unique to them selfs. Not just to get a degree to work there and there so that you can apply for that J O B! If that was possible a parent does not have to read that your kid is faired from a job YOUR KID... has worked SO HARD for to get his/her degree from that school system..Only to work inside a system/economy what in general does NOT work anymore! And remember people...

  • @kesaonez I am talking about the latest 'economic crisis' and the countless of job losses we read in the newspapers each day! And we teach our children to work in that same system so history can repeat itself on our next generation? School systems should be teaching kids what there strengths are and how to become independent ( having a business or at least to produce a income what is stable) and SUCCESSFUL

  • @CashinOnlineGuide The reason history repeats itself is because the liberals keep rewriting history. Secondly, economics should be a requirement to graduate! Most people have no clue about economics,. For instance, most people think this country is capitalistic when in fact it's crony capitalism which is why we are suffering from this economic crisis!

  • @adelyn123 Very well said. A good understandings on how the economy works today should indeed be a requirement for every kid or student today no matter what kind of background or education him/she follows. Because the future is looking grim in my opinion if you dont know that knowledge and you are not prepared but just kicked into today's economy with just a degree in your pocket thinking you can make a succesfull life today. You hit the nail there adelyn Thanks!

  • Teachers have no power and children since the dawn of time dislike school, yet they have to do it cause it is their job to learn how to function in society. In the 1950's we were not failing oh why you say? Teachers were respected and children had disciple/Respect for themselves, teachers and society!!!!! That's why.....

  • @kesaonez A job back then in the 70´s begin 80´s was still a very stable way to have SECURE future and ENJOYABLE life...(Because the economy still worked and the school systems applied to that economy of the 70´s begin 80´s still worked!) But in TODAYS Economy... A Job stands for Just...Over...Broke! Because it can END Just like That! And if that is your or your sons daughter only income... GOOD LUCK!

  • The reason every country is ahead of us is they have discipline in the system! This is Teachers have no power and children since the dawn of time dislike school, yet they have to do it cause it is their job to learn how to function in society. In the 1950's we were not failing oh why you say? Teachers were respected and children had disciple/Respect for themselves, teachers and society!!!!! That's why.

Horrible MTV shows are ok to influence children????? Teachers have no power and children since the dawn of time dislike school, yet they have to do it cause it is their job to learn how to

  • @kesaonez Ehm, most of the contry's that are listed do not have school uniforms :s! a few of them do... but most of them aren't

  • @Creaganlvn a parent has their child for the first 4-5 years of their life...the PARENTS are a child's first teacher!!!! Children should have some basics before they go to school...some kids don't eve recognize their own name when it's written on their desk. That is the parents job to teach them their name, address, phone number, COLORS and how to hold a pencil/crayon. ARE YOU KIDDING ME with this response???? Teachers are not placing blame, they are asking parents to do their job too!!

  • @valenjenn. You see that's the problem, it's all about the money with you teachers. Teaching should be act of love towards children not your retirement plan! If it was all about the money, teachers shouldve studied something else! So stop all your crying!

  • @gilipoo Of course it is about money, teachers need to make a living too. Saying teachers should not worry about money because they should instead be worried about helping their students is a very weak thought. If that should be the case, each person who has a job, especially someone with a job that helps others-say, a doctor- should not ask for as much money as they make because they should just enjoy the fact that they help people. That is the logic in your comment.

  • @sillyratable your view point is absurd. Private school teachers earn less and less benefits but the product is substantially better how can this be? Teacher unions make this argument in order to raise union dues and rally political support, please do not be naive

  • @Palmettovmp1 What I mean is that there are some pretty dumb people who become teachers. People are drawn to that career because they wrongfully think it will be easy. They don't know what they really want to be, so they go for something that is easy to imagine as they have seen teachers their entire life. When I was in college becoming a teacher, I wanted the job because I wanted to make a difference.. Some students had no reason except that they thought they could get a job easily (how...

  • @Palmettovmp1 how wrong they were). If we were to make the teaching field more competitive by offering more money and holding teachers to higher standards, we would weed out the people who teach for the wrong reason. Think of it this way: If a person who would love to teach math has a better job opportunity & more money completing some sort of engineering degree, they will generally become an engineer as that salary can protect the lifestyle they want. We are losing great teachers to higher pay.

  • @Palmettovmp1 Most teachers, public and private are caring, conscientious, competent professionals. Private schools put out a better 'product' because they generally get to pick and choose better materials. Public schools have to accept all who come. Private schools don't have to accept the slow, the special needs, the problem students.

  • private schools are better schools because they are expensive. they don't just choose kids who they assume are perfect stepford kids. They only 'pick and choose' as you put it, wealthy children who can foot the bill of a decent education. They are better because they are not funded by property tax. Most public schools are funded by the neighborhood property tax, if you live in a poor neighborhood then you go to a poor school. period.

  • mjedallen - while I do agree with you that parents are part of the problem, I also know in working with K12 schools thru my job, that many educators are just lazy and don't want to learn new technology. They're shortchanging these kids because they can't be bothered with Professional Dev. Instead, they complain to their tech directors when a new version of Inspiration or Kidspiration is brought into the school, because now they have to learn it. We live in a culture of lazy. Not acceptable.

  • Can't blame the kids. They're just kids.

Can't blame the parents. They send their children to be educated and once a child steps into a classroom, it's the teacher's responsibility to educate.

Public (government) education is a FAILURE.

Too many public school teachers are in it for the MONEY, not the kids.

  • @Markus77x7 seriously? Do you have any idea how much money a public school teacher makes? I am a teacher and I am not the breadwinner in my family. Thank goodness because if I were, our family would be living paycheck to paycheck and struggling. If you aren't a teacher and have never worked in the education system, I think it's difficult for you to really understand. I would encourage anyone to shadow a teacher for a week and then see what your thoughts are on public education.

  • @valenjenn ok you get summer off almost all holidays and to not even stay that long during work hours between 7:30 to 6:30 p.m. wow thats in it for the money.

  • dsdss

  • our teachers should be monitor more their are some really bad teachers in our public school and not doing good job at educating our kids for instance my son who was in pre k 4 at the time had a teacher who was sitting on her chair 90% of the time she was teaching. dont know if she was hurt or what but she should have been sent home until she got better rather then sitting down and pretending to teach kids need encouragement where was the participation

  • The system does need change. The government should not be in charge of solving everyone's problems. It should be encouraging people to solve their own.

In the end, the system is the not the real problem, it's society and culture. Blaming the system is a scapegoat. No system is perfect. People are responsible for the problems. Parents need to be parents and start caring about their child's education. That's the bottom line. Strengthening our family values would be a good start.

  • Comment removed

  • I work in the system and it's hard being a great educator when you have a 32 to 1 ratio, our budget is failing us and we are just trying to do our best with what we are given.

  • Blaming parents is useless. If you want parents to be better at preparing children for Kindergarten, then lets do something about it, but the cycle of poverty in this country is devastating in terms of outcomes for children. Our schools are broken as a system. There are many great teachers and many that are bad, but overall our schools fail the children who need them most.

  • @genegeist great post!

  • @genegeist It is not a cycle of poverty that is crippling our education. It is cycle of ignorance. Sanctioned ignorance...the kind that says it is okay to be dumb. It is okay to text all day and play video games all night. Kids in poverty have rescources available to them to learn, but the real handicap is to be born to stupid parents.

  • I live near Chicago. The state owes our school almost 2 million in funding (just this year). The system doesn't work without money, folks. 32 kids in a classroom doesn't work. Firing teachers doesn't work. You can add all the 504 plans and IEPs that you want... but with no funding, you're just making a bad situation worse.

We live in a society of endless second chances. Parents aren't held accountable for anything, and students laugh at consequences because they know they won't get expelled.

  • How impressive!!! THE US....I live in CA but I am NOT I am proud with some of the actions Congress takes towards others futures!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • As a private school teacher, I can tell you first-hand that is this is a serious issue.

We get new students every year coming from local public schools who are in the 7th, 8th or 9th grade. These students often cannot read or write properly, or do basic math. This is in a middle class area, not inner-city.

All of the public school students we get have very notable deficiencies in education, discipline, and character that need to be corrected, and it's getting worse every year, not better.

  • I really want to see this movie. Hopefully the people that can make a difference will watch it as well. Children's education should be first - not corporations and ceo's. Greed has hurt our nation and especially our children.

  • @djsienerth This video had nothing to do with corporations or CEO's, or greed for that matter.

  • I will definitely be seeing this film. It is unbelievable that we spend more per student than just about every other country, yet our students fall behind just about every other country. It is more than time we repeal public education. Every student should be important. All students should be taught based on their individual needs and abilities. Parents should have the freedom (disgusting I have to say that in America) to chart their childrens' educational course would make a huge difference.

  • @johnswanagon I WOULD LOVE IT if parents had the focus to pay attention to their child's education! Chart it? They can't even find their way to the school for conferences and meetings. The average parent is useless. They don't pay attention, they don't do their part in the education process. Charter schools to most parents = the right to expect a different set of teachers to do everything. PARENTS are the most important people in a child's life, but most are barely involved in education.

  • @Aramis2000 I think you hit the nail on the head. This public education system of ours has essentially allowed parents to cede their responsibilities over to schools. That is why I support ending public education. Too many people just want the government to take care of them and \assume that it will be done right. If people had to pick schools for their kids and pay directly, they'd change their tune real quick. All of sudden it would matter because it would be coming out of their bank accts.

  • @johnswanagon That would never work because parents would just not send their kids to school if that was the case. This would only end in a even more uneducated country.

  • There is no quick fix, and we can't expect all children to go to college. We need to start more hands on vocational programs that give children hope and more options instead of labeling them. We need a "back to basics"(reading writing and math) movement which will empower all children!

  • Where are the white children? It's bad enough Bill Gates' scholarship is only for non-Whites, but this video almost entirely ignores white children. Public education costs $10-15k per year, 3x what it did (inflation adjusted) than the 1970s. Test scores haven't improved. We need to radically decrease funding, give it back to the taxpayers, and increase funding to private schools, which actually cost less than public schools and get better results.

  • Are you avdocating for vouchers, becuase currently there is no public funding for private schools? Private school is between 500-1000 dollars per mo. or 6k - 12k per year much more than the 5k per year California gives per student per year. So, unless you can afford an elete private school or live in Marin, or Beverly Hills where public schools are great you get a crap education in your neighborhood school. The movie isn't about $ but educational change. Google Dr. Geoffry Canada and stupider!

  • @asolina1970 No, public schools cost over $10k on average, not $5k. In LA it's $30k per student.

  • I want to be a Teacher and this movie is definitely a hit to my heart, i cannot wait for my days as a teacher especially in my small town

  • "Stupider"?

Did that guy really just say 'stupider'?

    Yep. We're FUCKED.

  • @ToxicMonkies obviously we are since you don't know that "Stupider" is an adjective of the word "Stupid", but i think he shoudve used "more stupid" instead

  • @ToxicMonkies Haha! I heard him say that and I immediately looked at the comments to see if anybody noticed this. His statement is synonmous to saying, "Your a idiot."

  • this movie should be called: "THE US DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION"

the government took over the educational system since the 1950's. since the take over the quality of education has gone down but the cost has gone up... before the government take over US was the smartest country.. today families are strongly depending on the government to randomly select their children to go to a better school and if they don't get selected they are going to die. ALL BULLSHIT!!!

    EVER HEARD OF HOME SCHOOLING?

  • It's not necessarily the education system that's broken...we need to start holding parents accountable too!! Children come to Kindergarten at the school I teach in not knowing their colors or even how to use a crayon! And we (teachers) are being blamed for it...that's what's broken!

  • @mjedallen A teacher who puts the blame of an uneducated child on someone else should not be a teacher.

  • @mjedallen yes, you are right that parents need to be accountable, but thiers such a large percentage of un-educated parents who either work 4 jobs a day, or dont have have the knowledge to help. at the end of the day, teachers are hired to teach, not to talk about thier life, not to hold thier own sterotypes, TO TEACH. As a teacher, if your student fails, you fail, teachers and the public education system need to be held accountable.

  • @mjedallen Please stop passing the buck. It seems that you have forgotten your Job title or profession let me remind you (T.E.A.C.H.E.R) can you spell it with me? It’s true that parents have to get involved in the education of their childrens. Nevertheless, you are paid (very handsomely) to do a job. With the School Taxes that I pay every year ($6500) in my county, I expect results not excuses. Without the UNIONS backing you, some of you wouldn't last 3 weeks in the real world.

  • @romeo2g Have you ever being in a classroom teaching? it is very easy for you to say that teachers have forgotten their job title. what do parents do to help their children education? maybe you "participate" in your child education but think about other parents who do not provide kids with even the basic needs to survive. Teachers cant be parents and teachers at the same time!!... So please do not generalize! and one more thing: you pay taxes SO do teachers!!!!!

  • @mjedallen. This is what a cycle of sanctioned ignorance does to a society. The parents of this child who doesn't know numbers and cannot hold a crayon was also failed by the public education system. We are pandering to the special interests of teachers at the expense of our children.

  • Comment removed

  • @mjedallen First of all the schools are optional. As you can see what Michelle Rhee said she knows they are getting a crappy education. I'm a high school kid first of all. I move to different states because of my dad and him being in the air force, and from what I saw, kids are not getting stupid, it's the education system! The way the education system shows how the kids how to work and getting picked from a lottery to see if they go to a good school is just stupid. We have to take a stand NOW!

  • They want us all fat, unhealthy and dumb. They are winning. Lets stop fighting with eachother and start fighting for eachother!

  • follow me on twitter @MysticT427

  • Michael Jackson would love this

  • amazing. Love it.

  • @yournamehere321321 In nature, the most productive do have the most children. I wish upper class and rich people had children proportional to their money, since wealth has no other function than increasing reproductive success.

  • @hughtub Unfortunately, you totally miss the point. There are no white kids in the movie because nearly no white people are waiting for a great public education in Harlem- there are nearly no white students in Harlem! Also, the movie is about Charter Schools and about how defunct the public school system really is. Charters get better results with less money.

  • @asolina1970 charters are filled with students who want to be there, and are held to a contract. If they break the contract, they get kicked out. What a concept! Schools where parents and students are involved and held accountable, produce better results than schools where parents are absent and students don't care about consequences. If only public schools weren't punished for trying to do the very same things you praise charter schools for doing.

The Song is called "One Day" from Matisyahu. Great Trailer, great Song.

  • "The result has been sharply increased inequality in education and the creation of two separate and unequal school systems, one for the rich and privileged and another for everybody else." The above is from Think Globally, Privatize Locally: Public Education Is Under Attack Around the World

By Lois Weiner in the indypendent

  • Remove the government factor and you'll see an improvement in the US public school...like that "No Child(Everyone) Left Behind Act"
