These would also be great for the home, and inside the home. Would make great night lights. That way you dont have to turn a switch to go to the restroom.
Hello Dr Rogers, I am not a pilot, but i wanted to say... Kudos !!! very nice !!!... Also have you given any thought to using your products for other industries ???, the large cones look like they could be applied in the commercial fishing industry, for use as traps for... fish, lobster, crab, shrimp, conch, prawn etc. etc. ... the glow material could even be used in could even be used in conjunction with my own invention US pat # 6880290, It is a fishing gear recovery device.
yea maybe. you mean like having some sort of device that gives off heat, lots of them installed all over the carrier, and the pilot use infrared to detect the sensors? seems plausible. maybe not as accurate as it would need to be. the pilot would need to see lots of other objects for depth of field(obviously extremely crucial for landing an airplane). with the infrared, there'd be none
Something similar I've been pondering; Reply to this if my idea is stupid =) What if on aircraft carriers, each marker on the runway has a sensor, and all of the sensors relay a constant signal to the approaching aircraft, displaying a mirror image of the runway in 3D and real time? perhaps inside the pilots visor? Theoretically, the pilot wouldnt need to see the actual runway at all. Also, no lights would be needed whatsoever. A plane could land on a carrier in 100% total darkness. feedback...?
if its dark all you need is a nightvision camera.... if not... just have something that heats up in the shape of the runway, like a wire with electricity running through it and use a thermal scope. or both and your good.
Your idea is brilliant and is doable, although it is about 10 year ahead of current technology . I can envision the concept in a Heads up game type display . Realtime transmission of Pilot position would be EXTREMELY critical . GREAT Thinking however !
talk to the navy for night reconnassaince onboard carrier type vessel, what they call DogZebra mode. also for internal passageway light for red light operations. no electrical lighting provides stealth operations and no rf generation detection. the navy will love ya for it.
The link does not work, is there another link to see more?

its not that easy... not by a longshot. there are way too many variables that would prevent it from being THAT easy.
