Anybody know if the FB-3 has more/less/same amount of gain available as the FB-2 here? I need a boost that can cover volume and/or gain and has a wide range of each. Thanks!
@yobhsiFehT According to Fulltone they both have 35db of clean gain. This is one of the most capable boost pedals out there and can used simply as a transparent volume boost or as a very musical way to sculpt some great drive sounds. The FB-3 took many of the more popular features from the first two editions and combined them into one. They are all great pedals and it is definitely worth checking out the different versions since they all have different sounds.
Ah, thanks, but I meant "gain" in the more common sense, meaning "distortion" - I notice the FB-3 went back to the selector-switch kind of knob for that control whereas the FB-2 has a smooth, continuous pot, but other than that, it's hard to tell what difference in SOUND there might be.
@yobhsiFehT There is not much of a difference in gain, they have about the same level of saturation when you crank them. The difference is more in the tonal character. The FB-2 is more colored, and is more of a mid-range boost. The FB-3 has a fatter low end and doesn't color the tone of the instrument as much. The difference is actually pretty striking. In my opinion the FB-3 is the better sounding of the two, but some might like the FB-2 for its coloration.
@yobhsiFehT no problem! We have them both available so I hope you will consider talking to us again when you are looking for a fulltone pedal. take care!
sorry we didn't cover everything for you in the video. There are great boost pedals for all sorts of different styles and we find this pedal to cater to a wider variety of styles than others in its price range. If you would like to discuss more details about this pedal, shoot us a PM. we would love to talk more about the line of Fulltone pedals!
@Dihse G2D has twice the features but almost twice the price. Depends on how flexible a boost you need. We find Fulltone pedals to be quality true-bypass pedals with a price point most musicians can live with. What do you think? We like getting opinions on gear comparisons.
Thanks for the note! Have you had a chance to check out our other videos. We have more than 150 as of this moment, and the number keeps growing. Is there anything in particular you are looking for?
If I use an OCD as my main overdrive, would one of these stack well as a good solo boost? Would I put this before or after the OCD in the effects chain?
@lewisb81 OCD is an awesome pedal! What you're saying makes perfect sense. That OCD is going to give you one hell of a foundation for the boost to lay upon. Those two pedals are going to sound awesome. As for which pedal goes first: Try one before the other and whatever sounds best to you, sounds best to you.
@sixstainless Thanks for your comments! We encourage discussion of our demos as often as possible. Do you have some fulltone pedals? If you're ever interested in a new one, we carry the whole line. take care!
