I don't see how jail breaking went against the DMCA to begin with. The files distributed to jailbreak contained code that was not made by Apple, and, to my knowledge, the modification of a software for personal uses is completely legal, if not at least in the grey.

ironicly i just jailbroke my ipod a few days ago. i mean most of the cydia stuff goes through amazon and paypal do they really think a huge site that sells almost anything has about 1,000+ companies selling through it will support something that can end up hurting them, because apple products sell through amazon. that could hurt a good chunk of their sales.

Jailbreaking should be legal you know why apple because after i paid for this it is MINE you can't tell me what i can do with it becuse it is MINE we should be able to do anything with our stuff as long as it's ours. I say that Jailbreak for 3rd party applications atleast should be legal because its something like app store but in Cydia and i say that only they should remove installous because it downloads free apps what should normally be paid so this means it really illegal and i think that Apple should be fair to us and to allow us to download apps what are not in the app store and also i really think that this year will be the end of downloads because the FBI closed MegaUpload,MegaVideo and soon Cydia :(

It's not illegal. Think of it like this, you buy a iPhone 4s and you want to run T-Mobile on it, but you have to jailbreak & unlock your iPhone to do that. If you don't want At&t, Verizon, or Sprint as your carrier for your iPhone then you have the right to jailbreak your device because when you buy something it's yours. You can do what ever you want with it.
