Is this serious or a joke? Either way it's funny. If it's a joke then you have a modern bass player laying down a fake crappy track over the video of a horrible, overrated old bass player. If it's serious then it is twice as funny because you have a crappy modern bass player playing his track over top of a video of a horrible, overrated old bass player.
This IS Jaco playing, and it's a sad reflection on how alcohol was destroying his brain at the end. It's a shame because he WAS a genius, and this would leave you wondering why, if you didn't know his body of work.
@ComradeJX8P come on man put the 'homage' in the name, not on the info.. people who haven't heard him think that this is jaco himself and his sound.. it's ridiculous!
haha i'm a jaco fan and this is brilliant. i agree with others on here about the clapping part. so funny. come on guys i think jaco would laugh at this too ;)
@h8basscism This passage is from The Companions of Jehu--page 396--"You are ninnies! I have cheated all the time we've been playing, and you never found out. Those who lost can take their money back." Born and bred in the Catholic faith, Bonaparte had no preference for any dogma. When he re-established divine worship it was done as a political act, not as a religous one.
Learn this or die: When you are in the evil heart of your addiction, it seems like you can't concentrate creatively on your art. That's a chemical lie of the poison-substance you're taking. It has alienated you from your love, your art. The only way to beat this lie is to lay your art down, go into continual treatment WHILE discontinuing use. This you make a permanence. As you learn about the nature of addiction, you'll relearn true love, hate, and slowly pick your art up along the way.
@Ariel62073 ''Alexandre Dumas pere wrote over 400 historical novels exposing world tyranny(Roman Catholic Empire). Alexandre Dumas pere was born near Paris in 1802 and 'coincidentally' in 1902 The Society of Gesu(Jesuits) were expelled from France for the 3rd and last time. The Society of Jesu(Jesuits) have been expelled from 83 countries and their pope is ARAMIS AND HE IS ALSO KNOWN AS THE COUNT OF MONTE CHRISTO(GENERAL OF THE JESUITS).
@Ariel62073 MICHAEL TSARION IS THE WORLDS PREMIER CONSPIRACY RESEARCHER/LECTURER/AUTHOR. LEO ZAGAMI, JORDAN MAXWELL AND ALEXANDRE DUMAS PERE ARE HIGHLY INFORMATIVE AS WELL. P.S. MELTING EUPHORIA IS SIMILAR TO OZRIC TENTACLES AND GONG.
This is so obviously fake, but I can read a bunch of comments by stupid people that belive it's Jaco playing. That makes me realize that most of those guys are, probably, shitty players that play at home looking at the mirror believing that they are rock stars! Man, Jaco was the greatest, get over it!
I wonder if he saw this while sober he might have cleaned up his act, and he might be alive today. I Curse the bastard that showed the greatest bass player on earth at that time period how to shoot that garbage into his veins.
@playguitarlars He did do drugs but its not like every famous musician has died to heroin, Jaco was sometimes a little crazy and could piss people off, thus his death... :/
I saw him at the first Playboy Jazz Festival back in the early 70's and he was stoned and all pissed off. He sounded about like this, got mad, and then threw his bass on the stage and pushed over his amplifier and walked off. From that day on, I had little respect for him, but he was a great player when his head was straight.
@slap70s You do know that he suffered from mental illness and died on the streets? I was lucky enough to see him in the late 70's with Weather Report.
Oh, so they are calling drug addiction a mental illness now? By the way, he died after picking a fight with the wrong dudes at a bar when he was wasted. They beat the life out of him and that big mouth of his. Where did you get your facts? Face it, the guy could play like an angel, but he had the lifestyle of the devil. He deserves props for his musicianship, but to put him on a pedestal, and forget his faults is rewriting history. He was what he was.
@slap70s Who put him on a pedestal? Sure wasn't me dude. I recall reading an article about him being mentally ill when he died and who says you can't have a drug addiction and be mentally ill? Sure seems to me the two go hand in hand. I'm done.
I know it's very easy to explain things away with mental illness, but Jaco did suffer from Bipolar Disorder which was exacerbated by his drug and alcohol addiction. I could go on and on about how it was that kind of uncompassionate attitude towards addiction which drove him to his early grave, but I don't like to presume that I'm correct in my opinions (unlike most people on Youtube). It's just my humble opinion that nobody should judge an addict without knowing their full story.
hahaha i'm loving the comments from the people who dont get this. if anything this gives jaco more respect by showing the polar opposite of how he plays. he would have found this very funny i'm sure. though nice work on the bass tone, pretty spot on!
Totally hilarious! Get real, folks. Anyone who would search for Jaco on youtube has all of his records and the Weather Report stuff. This is a great parody...keep doing your thing!
dude why did you do that ? its not jaco.. ffs there are millions of young bass players listening and learning jaco from youtube first time. its not funny !
In the name of the great JACO, bassist, composer, arrenger etc, you should delete this video, made with him so desorientated and drugged...He did so much for the bass and music, that he deserves respect...
no. ha always dressed in rags, hippy things, and it was far from - even music industry - standards. or he just walked barefoot in silly hats or hadbands and raggy pants.
I think he did not care for "dress code" at all.
he even had problems of playing with a jazz combo - all in suits - and him showing up in hippy cloths.

OK it took a while....My mouth was open for the first half. I thought....drugs??? Off night???? Spoof? On the greatest of greats, I could not even imagine....Great Job....You fool who shts on the Temple of Doom.
Lol, clearly fake. since when do you get fret buzz on a fretted bass. saying that though this realy did make me lol and it is actually quite well done and very funny. i like it haha
@biancaphil08 I know it's hard for you to do but read the description before writing some times. It mentions St. Sanders and it's known the dude overdubs musicians and does terrible playing for fun and than adds audience claps afterwords.
I know Jaco was pretty out of it at times and his playing wasn't 100% always, so it took me a while to realize what was happening in this clip. Well done, you had me going there. Very funny!
This is absolutely fake. I'm hearing the E about 50 cents flat. Also, next time you try to defame one of the greatest bass players ever make sure you use a fretless bass jackass. Check out the fret noise on the glissando at the end of this slander at 5:34.
Dig...this might be what some folks actually hear when some jazz comes their way. Just like ALL latin music sounds the same...all country music sounds the same...all BLUES sounds the same.
Gawd knows what happens to music once it enters the ears...no tellin where it goes or what it turns into.
nobodies trying to ruing jacos reputation its just a little fun havent you seen any of the other shreds videos its just an nice little overdubbing of a great musician that you can listen to and laugh at horrible it is but how they would never ever sound like that
@mariojaime1975 thats the joke. its meant to be funny. cause its bad. I love jaco, absolutltly love his playing, and this bugs me. but it was an intentional fake lol
OMG you had me going here for a while. it wasn't till about 2min into the vid that I realaized this was a parody. and I was saying to myself " oh wow. jaco must have been real high on about 1:00??? this sucks!!!" This is some really funny stuff. my favorite is at 5:30 on your atonal outro AND THEN EVERYONE CLAPSSSS!!!!!! hahaha
It's really interesting to see all the comments. It can really shows what kind of people wrote them. One who believed don't know anything about Jaco nor understand his music. One who took it as an insult know who Jaco is and probably think he is great because someone told them so. One who took it as a joke really know how great he is and it's just ridiculous so just have to laugh.
The only depressing part of this is that there are peeps who appear to have enough savvy to know how Jaco was a one-of-a-kind world class phenom but are confused about fake audio under real video. Sorry about your ears - or lack thereof.
i really wanna meet the douche thats posting fake vids of Jaco and tarnishing his legendary status. IF YOU WANT TO SEE THE REAL VIDEO SEARCH "JACO SOLO BASS". Stop believing this garbage is actually him.
The empty stage says it all. "Does not play well with others." Or in this hacks case "at all".

nobodies trying to ruing jacos reputation its just a little fun havent you seen any of the other shreds videos its just an nice little overdubbing of a great musician that you can listen to and laugh at horrible it is but how they would never ever sound like that

@mariojaime1975 thats the joke. its meant to be funny. cause its bad. I love jaco, absolutltly love his playing, and this bugs me. but it was an intentional fake lol

I love how when he starts clapping it sounds like an empty hall. You don't see or hear anyone. LOL

I just watched one of his other videos and it sounded a lot like this. Jaco Pastorius was certainly no Michael Anthony.

@ArtsBarAndGrill Michael Anthony? Now you're the one who's joking,right?

OMG you had me going here for a while. it wasn't till about 2min into the vid that I realaized this was a parody. and I was saying to myself " oh wow. jaco must have been real high on about 1:00??? this sucks!!!" This is some really funny stuff. my favorite is at 5:30 on your atonal outro AND THEN EVERYONE CLAPSSSS!!!!!! hahaha

jaco is great and all, but the "music" is timed so well that i thought it was real at first

yeah....hear all that crazy string squeak? Not on Jaco's worst day would an amateurish mistake like that occurr...
the physical mannerisms are similar though

I had the real presentation and this is a joke, if jaco has plays like this then he was a perfect asshole...

The really unfunny thing about this is that certain parts sound like they could be me! Definitely time to call it a day I think

i really wanna meet the douche thats posting fake vids of Jaco and tarnishing his legendary status. IF YOU WANT TO SEE THE REAL VIDEO SEARCH "JACO SOLO BASS". Stop believing this garbage is actually him.
