  • Pirates soundtrack! <3

  • arcadia, california represent! :)

    this is so beautiful...

  • she is inconsistent .. the only think that she is weak in..

  • My two TOP picks that will for sure make news for the US ladies figure skating are....Mirai Nagasu and Christina Gao.....they will be the top contenders for the US. just wait another year or two....

  • Comment removed

  • Mirai moving up....a step at a time

  • she is beautiful^^

  • cause at 16 Yuna and Asada has already a world title holder....

  • a little bit agree she has a future i agree w/ that..but if Kim Yuna and Mao Asada rival still there i've doubt..Cause the rivalry of these great skaters the reason why skating world is on fire...maybe if one of them is retired..then mirai has a chance to challenge the remaining confeditor..mao? or yuna?

  • Mark my words... in a few years, she'll challenge Kim Yu-Na... she'll definitely be a contender for gold.

  • mark my words, she already beat yuna kim and mao. she's the present. they're already past.

  • looks like that day is already here maybe!!! Shes in FIRST!!! KIM YUNA? 7TH!

  • maybe next time Mirai!!! Shes def the future of US skating!

  • @No1ZmeskalFan

Well, she collapsed under pressure from placing first in the short program and ended up off the podium. But still, beating Mao and Yuna is an amazing feat. Once she controls the pressure, she'll truly be a force.

  • @1hmm2 well because for yuna's case,, her boots condition and her condition was not good at all. if yuna is in good condition, mirai can never beat yuna..

  • who play the song of pirates of the caribbean?

  • Whats the first music called before hes a pirate?

  • Davy Jones from Pirates at the very begining....then Fragile Dream by Joe Hisaishi.

  • 这个胖妹真是太可爱

  • I love the music

  • she is so graceful, I wish i was like that.

  • She did great the other night in Canada.

  • love from arcadia ! she should've won bronze !

  • This little girl is the most perfect skater in the world!!!!

    Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • she should have won BRONZE

  • Her name is so cool.

  • wow!

  • Ah these young lady athletes and their "flexibility", hmmmmmm

  • Unfortunately, Sasha Cohen has been more interested in a TV career than skating from 2007 onward, that is the reason she isn't performing well and is only an alternate on the Olympic team.

  • STUPID judges!!!!!! They need to go back to ICE SKATING SCHOOL. LOL

  • did she join the 2010 vancouver olympics>?

  • Yes

  • @prettyasian888

Yes, she skated in the short program tonight.

  • Lol some people are retarded for hating on Yuna just because she's "too perfect". Mirai's great but I still favor Yuna.

  • EEPPP!!! omg she used to go to FMS (foothills Middle School) the school i go to now!!! I AM SOO EXCITED!! She goes to Arcadia High School Now

  • she doesn't go to Arcadia HS anymore; She's going to an online high school.

  • She's from Arcadia, she used to go to my high school before she left to train, and I don't really consider Arcadia a ghetto

  • are you kidding? even try to mention Arcadia a ghetto? mid-priced houses were 700K+. iwilleaturbabies, dont let ppl put you down.

  • @zzap999 arcadia is NO WHERE near ghetto.....

  • Comment removed

  • SHE LIVES NEAR ME SHE GOES TO MY SCHOOL

  • im going to the same school as she is...

    FMS RULES!!! ahaha

  • demiexpuppy, mirai is home schooled so you could not possiblie be in the same school!

  • she used to go to foothills middle school.

her posters are ALL OVER OUR SCHOOL!!!

she mite be home schooled now, but she used to go to our school

  • Hell yea xD

  • Im soo glad she enden up higher thatn Sasha!:D

  • landyfigureskating, sasha did not compete in this comp she started competing again in 2010 at the nats!

  • yes, it's always great to strive for mediocreness.sigh.

  • that's not true; she got downgrades on three jumps and one of the downgrades was questionable. there's no need to be mean towards mirai; she's not in yu-na's league yet and she knows that. having said that, of all of these younger skaters coming up, mirai is the one who looks as though she'll pose the biggest threat in the coming years, by which time yu-na will probably have retired. mirai has one of the best coaches in history so you know her jumps will be fixed sooner rather than later.

  • sooniemix, what are you talking about!? her jumps were down graded but not at nats becaue she got silver in nats so if she supposing got all her jumps down graded she wouldnt hav won silver, so in turn your wrong!

  • @figureprincess11 Mirai received UR calls on both 3 toe loops and her second 3 lutz. In the SP, no jump downgrades, but the long program she got naled. It's the reason she ended up so close to Ashley's score instead of near or better than Rachael's. I love Mirai. I hope it doesn't happen at the Olympics.

  • yuna here yuna there she may be good but , for me, i HATE her style.. mirai is much nicer to watch. maybe yuna is just TOO perfect -_-

  • she is good though

  • Yuna's speed coming out of her first 3/3 combo is very impressive and has the wow factor.

But outside of that, I believe Mirai has better spirals, more flexibility, better positions, better spins, and equal speed. Mirai is very young and cannot exploit her sexuallity like Yuna has.

Yuna has the looks and sex appeal of a super model and I believe that is why she is favored.

IMO, Mirai is better "skater" than Yuna.

  • Mirai is a better skater all the way around Yuna's 3/3 sucks compared to the one Mirai won nationals with in 2008!

  • i don't kno about that but mirai is on her way to the top, that's for sure. yu-na is the standard right now, but in another year or so i expect mirai to be at the top. no upcoming lady can match her speed, spins, spirals and appeal. mirai just lacks solid technique on her lutz and that maturity the judges respond to. but all of those can be fixed so i expect to see her at the top of the podium in the coming years. but lately here the judges have been marking her unfairly. that's skating tho.

  • I agree I was so happy when she won Nationals!

  • LOL. Like you are an expert, LOL at youariston.

  • she totally copied kaitlyyn mcnab's routine!!!!!!!!!!!

i m serious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! kaitlyn has da same routine just different song and kaitlyn preformed it like way b4 this girl did!!!!!!!!!

  • who cares? skaters have to do the same stuff in programmes...

  • na uhhhh, na uuuhhh

  • I loved this program and I kind of understand why her jumps were downgraded...but still the new judging system sucks!!

  • What track is the beginning. I can't find it.

  • its fragile dream by joe hisaishi!

  • I think the growth spurt has help her. She now looks like she belongs in Seniors. Her overall skating is much stronger. Caroline still looks like she did 3 years ago. I hope Mirai qualifies for the Olympics.

  • Her spins are amazing! If there is some more speed, it will be awesome!

  • LOL i noe her she usally skates at pasadena ice skating center rarley like at 6:00 she's an amazing skater BELIVE ME LOL (:

  • wow!!!!!

  • this program is a really good change for her.. looks like she has a great time performing it too. i agree with beillman28 & i liked the white dress from golden west better.. but this black one seems to go with the program just as nicely. i think shes really improved from last year aswell !!!! :)

  • i wish the jury just sit and watch the whole performance and give points instead of putting everything under the microscope whether or not the jump is 1/10 of a turn less etc. figure skating is more than a sport, its an art as well. and mirai did a great job in this sp, she deserved an 8.5 out of 10. well done mirai!

  • this was really good, if she keeps it up she can maybe make it to the olympics! plus she looks like she got even taller

  • I think her timing for footwork was a bit off here, its different than the one at golden west (i liked that one better)

  • mirai, mao, cohen, zhang are my most favest

  • wonderful step & spin!

  • i like the white dress better from golden west

  • so beautiful! she has improved very much, totally different from her in the last season. in the near future all the top skaters of the present will be overtaken by Mirai. i won't take my eyes off her!

  • Now that I think about it are the people the camera shows holding the american flag after the performance, Rachael Flatt's parents?

  • Nothing said was racist. Learn how to read and comprehend :rolling eyes:

  • Roll your eyes all you'd like. You're choice of words make you no better because of the fact of what someone else may have said.

Learn how perceive the impact your words may have.

  • :rolling eyes:

  • lol

  • Tibet soon FREE

  • so many amazing positions! maybe the camel needs some work, but her bielman, her layback, her jumps... she is really impressive

  • Does anyone know what the pieces of music are from 0:43 - 1:45 ?

  • Mirai is my favourite american skater. She's so refreshing and exciting to watch. I love her lines and speed.

  • that was amazing! wow i guess frank carrol did some job on her!

  • 잘하네

  • Wow, did this girl step up her game in this program BIG-TIME or what!?!?!? I saw this the other night and knew no one was gonna touch her in the standings even before the scores came in, lol. Gonna have to keep my eyes peeled come 2010. She's starting to look like a legit contender now...

    ;-)

  • 3-3 =3-2..? ^^

  • 뭐? 못생긴 년아 꺼져!

Another 3rd world Thai who wants to be Korean :rolling eyes:

  • What a sad, ignorant comment. Unfortunate that people could still hold such hatred in their hearts.

  • You white devils teach ignorance and hate so well :-)

  • omg that was beautiful

  • wow. maybe it's a strange thing to notice but her turns and transitions were lovely here

  • not a strange thing to notice at allll! new system way of thinking ;)

  • i love u Mirai!!

  • great layback!

  • Mirai is number 1! She is the best and she beat other figure skaters! Congratulations on your best, flawless performance ever!!! WOW, what an amazing comeback!!!! Yahooooooo!!!!!

  • Mirai so talented! Her skating is like Shizuka Arakawa + Yuna Kim= so graceful, for sure she'll become American super star soon.

  • impressed. yeah.. seems she's not deserved fairly of her pcs. not surprising when knowing yuna got low pcs during the early of her senior season. but she will be judged fairly when performing well and consistently from now on. funny thing is...once a skater's got some credit, his/her pcs has the tendency to be high fixed no matter how bad the performance is. have a look at Russia's lady's for this season

  • no, you're right. she was super fast, good edging, the choreography and presentation were both very good...i don't know why her PCS was so low. i'm thinking it's b/c this is only her 2nd year on the senior level and last year she didn't do well at all so the judges aren't used to her. if she manages to skate well in the long program, i actually think her PCS will go up a bit.

she did wonderfully here though! she really is the US's best all around skater...

  • Finally, some energy for Team USA. Great short.

  • this is the best sp among the us ladies so far...

  • NONONO....:/

    I prefer mirai to kim.

  • very impressive. i love this girl's style and technique. she seems to be very well trained and i wish her the best this olympic season.

  • very nice circular step sequence!

  • Ahh, Mirai Nagasu! Beautiful performance! Hope she will get more fans in the process and some more hearts as well. I am so glad that she's continuing to do something she loves doing and that she will do very well during the Olympic games in Vancouver 2010. Thank you for releasing this fabulous video of Mirai Nagasu, alfondacorrinnasmall!!!

  • Her jumps still need some adjustments, but her other elemens are simply amazing!!!

  • I'm afraid one day she may be able to beat Yuna..

  • LOL...

  • Why Mirai's PC score so low?!

  • I'm wondering the same.

Mirai's PCS scores should be higher.

  • WOW! Nice come back Mirai! I

good luck and I wish you'll on the podium of Olympic 2010!

  • excellent !

    looks like another yuna- kim.

  • Good girl! So happy for Mirai!

  • Frank pushes his skaters to be smart! Frank weighs risk versus reward. And unless a certain jump or element is at least 80% solid in practice, it's not put in the program.

People can debate this, but I think the season for someone like Mao would be different if she were working with Frank Carroll.

  • Please, let's stop arguing!

We're here because we care about Mirai, right?

I know it's fun for skating fans to chat about whether the scores were appropriate of not.

Everyone has different opinions on that.

So in the end nobody's right or wrong.

Let's just keep it that way.

Because all this fuss would not make the skaters happy at all.

  • wow!! good for her!

im so excited for the long program!

  • Mirai has been my favorite US lady for a while, and I was so happy and proud to see how well she did. I think her score was very fair and not overmarked- her elements have all improved (especially her spins! Wow!), her jumps were solid and the double axel had a difficult entrance preceding it, and the sparkle and joy to her skating has returned in full force. Can't wait to see how she does in the long program. I'm making an early prediction that Mirai will be the top US lady this season.

  • Thanks you for the video ! GO MIRAI!!!

  • im posting back!!:D

im american, but i still have to say your comments (not just the one im replying to, but ALL the other ones commented on this particular video) point to the notion that you ARE indeed bashing yuna, so stop trying to say you arent. if you look at the detailed scoresheet of hers, you can't say anything was scored unfairly--shes got massive GOE on pretty much ALL her jumps (because they have so much speed, height, and coverage on the ice).

  • H4LfAd1M I read your reviews, and quite frankly, I was merely stating that Mirai is the best and she beat out of all the other competing figure skaters. But what really enraged me when Courtneysk8s pops in and piles all of her shit on Mirai. This is NOT in reference for using Mirai to bash on Yu Na Kim, generally this is in response to Courtney's rude, obnoxious comments about Mirai. Frankly I am getting sick of seeing Courtney ruining Mirai's forums. I am just trying to keep her out.

  • she missed a jump at teb, yeah, but remember she didnt get points on a jump AND a spin on her world record from last year's world championships.

geez, im the one getting sick of all this nonsense bashing on others-___-

mirai did a really good job here and i think she was graded quite fairly! she seems really happy about her scoress(:

  • I think you guys should think im terms of points and not in terms of how many points he got. First off, the first two jump passes probably received no extra points, the spiral probably received at least 1.5 pts, the double axel at least 1 pt, the flying sit about .3, the layback would be at least 1 pt, the steps would be about .4-.5 and the final combo spin probably was about .8-1 pt. That gives us about 5-5.5 pts added to her score. A 37 is more than fair.

  • Nobody is saying she got unfair GOE.

The ISU has not uploaded the detailed scores yet.

So we'll all see how much GOE she got later.

I personally think they probably gave her quite alot.

Mirai seemed happy about her scores.

    Good for her!

  • Very good music and program. Now thats the CHOICE for an Olympic Season. What is Mao doing with such depressing music? Americans really know how to play, when it comes to an Olympic Game.

  • She seams really happy with Frank!! Hope she does well the rest of the season! Good luck Mirai!

  • Wellllll DONE MIRAI!!!!

  • I hope mirai makes the olympic team!!

  • I'm so happy she was able to put a good program out there after all the trouble she had last year with her growth and coach. Good luck, Mirai!

  • Very nice skate Mirai. Good luck in the long program tomorrow.

    Thanks for sharing the video.

  • Those "crazy" GOE scores are given to her FAIR and SQUARE whether you like it or not. Stop being so biased! It is just really ridiculous. Read the rules! Mirai does not have the best jumps, but fantastic spins, spirals, steps, so that is most likely where she got massive +GOE's.. The GOE marks are actullay quite fair because the judges have to go through a bunch of criterias before giving an element the propriateGOE (Grade of Execution). The same standard apply everyone.. Deal with it!

  • Well, I hope what u say is true.

But u can never be sure about what is fair nor square in skating.

Do you not remember what happened in Saltlake ice-dance?

I don't know much about rules, but I think GOE is pretty subjective compared to basic points.

I think Mirai's jumps were very good this time.

Better than her spins, except the beilman.

She may not be best jumper but I think too, she jumps better than Caroline.

But I like both of them anyway.

I hope they both make the olympics.

  • Salt Lake ice dance was a joke, I agree. But that was the 6.0 system. The GOE is actually pretty objective, because the rules are so strict. A skater has to obtain a certain amount of bullets (i.e.8criterias) to achieve +GOE's. Mirai's jumps were okay, maybe a +1. What she gets points from are the spins, spirals and steps which were fantastic. :)

  • salt lake was a crime not a joke. isu announced that there was a conspiracy. & i think calling peoples comments 'dumb' and saying 'don't come here and tell' bla bla IS aggressive! what'd u do with that comment of urs? don't see it no more, but it's in my mail! and i'm not bashing yuna. i'm sayin i dont agree with the judges all the time. & i dont think the goe system's objective cause if it is, then all the judges'd be givin same goes but they dont. in fact they differ quite alot at times.

  • I agree with you about judges. For example, Mao Asada's PCS is always ridiculously high, even in Cup of Russia last week. This smells fishy. Some people call her PCS princess.

  • Yes. The 6.0 system was much more vague.

Also maybe as you say, Mirai might get good GOE for her spins.

I'm not sure because the camerawork for this performance was not very good.

I don't like it when they shoot from over the skaters.

It's difficult to see if their spins are drooling or not.

Her steps and spirals are usually good.

I think she is more muscular(?) than last season.

    Must have trained alot.

    GJ Mirai!

  • I definitely think Mirai's move to Frank has helped her confidence and she's been able to deal with the growth spurt a bit better.

I hate that aerial shot of the skaters as well ... especially when they choose to do it mid jump.

  • Yes, wise choice for Mirai! She had a hard time last year because she grew tall. Young skaters have to fight against their growth. Some unfortunately can't overcome the changes. That's why I was worried about her until today. I know now she made it! I hate it when my favorite junior skaters don't do good in seniors. When I imagine their struggles, those who made it to seniors are all winners! And others, lets stop arguing. This is Mirai's video. Let's be happy for her only.
  • And very good energy and speed...What a difference since nationals...Looks like the girl might be back.

  • Good job, Mirai! Yeah...But it is not over...Keep it up.

  • She's skating well! Thanks for sharing the video

  • Thank you for uploading!!

    Go Mirai!!
