I'm 14 and gay. Parents divorced, lives with mom. Father is a racist and homophobe as well as brother. I am insecure, self conscious and living life suffering. The only way I can express myself is through music. My mom is in denial and doesn't believe I'm gay when I told her. It's not easy being gay, it wasn't a choice for me and it's heartbreaking living in such a fucked up generation where people say "that's gay" or "fag" everywhere you go.

I am an out of the closet 17 year old male. I have had a boyfriend all through highschool but I hid it from my parents. One dad my parents caught me watching gay porn and they grounded me, not for watching the porn, but for being gay. I was abused like crazy for 4 years, and still am today. Since I live in kentucky it very not libral and most teachers at my school wont help.

A piece of advice to gay people, don't come out until your out of school. You'll never know how people will react when you tell them your gay. If you wait until you can take care of yourself, and tell people your gay and they don't accept you, you can kick them out of your life, instead of them kicking you out of their life, and they'll regret it. Ive never met an adult who is homophobic, however there are plenty of people in my school who just do it because they're immature. LGBT people have a lot more rights here than in America. I'm 14 and gay. Parents divorced, lives with mom. Father is a racist and homophobe as well as brother. I am insecure, self conscious and living life suffering. The only way I can express myself is through music. My mom is in denial and doesn't believe I'm gay when I told her. It's not easy being gay, it wasn't a choice for me and it's heartbreaking living in such a fucked up generation where people say "that's gay" or "fag" everywhere you go.

There is a time were it hurt so much when I read insults about being gay, but now it doesn't do anything anymore.
Words only hurt when you give them that power and there is nothing someone could say about me being gay that would damage me.

Suicide,huh?I am not gay,but I have been through the rituals and the darkness that leads to attempting suicide.I had myself so convinced that I had become utterly worthless to everyone that there was nothing left to do but to throw it away!!Not to rub this in,but I was married at time!!So yeah,I know what the hell of attempting suicide is like,just not from a gay male's point of view..although I may not be too far off....

What really stabs me is that 2/3 of guidance counselors have negative feelings towards gays. My ideal belief is to let each person decide for themselves if they are going to "repent" or be who they are, and do what they feel is RIGHT. Choose for yourself and do not try to control another person. That is what hurts me is that so many people are trying to control gays, as if they are objects and not human beings.
