  • Hey i'm a beginner snowboarder. When I was taught how to turn I was told to wait till i was on the fall line to initiate a new edge. However this guy doesn't wait for the fall line. I tried this and all was going good till I caught a toe edge and ate some snow. Could anyone explain thanks.

  • Mate, what you have been taught is turning and linking turns, this is a progreesion from that, just using the edges with out skidding, this is much faster and as you can see he is just moving his weight over the edges rather than forcing a full turn. You really pick up speed doing this....

    Hope that helps.

  • you'll catch your edge if you're not leaning onto the front foot.

  • @JMMW420. The reason you were taught to wait till the fall line to initiate a new edge was to lower the risk levels of you catching your downhill edge when learning to link turns. At slower speeds and when riding with low tilt while learning to snowboard you are at a greater risk to fall if you attempt to tilt your board on its downhill edge while initiating a new turn.

  • @tjs8807 Hey thanks for the reply. 2 years on and I don't have this problem anymore thankfully. I learnt to commit to the new edge and now it's all good, but cheers :)

  • I met Mikey at an instructors course in Japan. One of the most influential people I've ever met and the most dominate influence of my snowboarding. Every time I strap in, I revise the things he has taught me, snowboarding has never been the same since I rode with him.

  • i have problems with these but this helped woot

  • What the hell do they mean "go with a pro". Dirty bastards. They should all be chemically castrated

  • what? if you are serious you must be retarded as hell
