We very much intend to keep our oil and gas and all our national and international commitments will be met,we shall also be an exporter of electricity as we produce more than we need and,we are projected to produce more than 45 per cent of Europes re newable energy and as for the military Scotland simply does not require the size of military and naval power which a fading post imperial power does with delusions of power.We are a small nation with a relatively homogenous population.

This one time I went to Scotland. It rained non-stop and was freezing cold. Everyone is overweight and has false teeth. All the men are transvestites and the women look like men. I was attacked by a swarm of midges and thrown out of a pub for saying that the Loch Ness monster didn't exist. The British Govt. provided the 7 Billion in order to secure the interests of their own Banking-sector, which was heavilly invested in Irish Banks. It was a bitter tonic, but it secured them from a further re-capitlisation in the future. Also, I think you will find that Ireland is much better off as an independant nation. It certainly never prospered under a British Govt.

@SuperFruitloopy As I said before, Britain HAD to provide the £7 Billion in order to protect their own financial sectors' investments. This money went straight to re-capitalisation, and served no other purpose. Of course Ireland wouldn't have immediately prospered upon gaining independance. It lacked any form of industrial development, with an overly focused Agricultural sector. It took years of stringent economic control to slowly eradicate this.

Ireland has followed EU orders to the letter, but has ultimately suffered. The British loan was lent at around 6-8% compared with the UK's 0.5%, so ultimately you will get a return - not simply on the security of your financial sector. Remember, the relationship between Ireland and the UK is mutually beneficial and needs to be secured.

John Swinney has announced that if Scotland becomes independent the north sea oil will make Scotland the 6th richest country in the world and the rest of the UK will be the 16th richest! While Scotland's share of the debt will be around £77 Billion the rest of the UK's debt will be closer to £1 Trillion. This one time I went to Scotland. It rained non-stop and was freezing cold. Everyone is overweight and has false teeth. All the men are transvestites and the women look like men. I was attacked by a swarm of midges and thrown out of a pub for saying that the Loch Ness monster didn't exist. The British Govt. provided the 7 Billion in order to secure the interests of their own Banking-sector, which was heavilly invested in Irish Banks. It was a bitter tonic, but it secured them from a further re-capitlisation in the future. Also, I think you will find that Ireland is much better off as an independant nation. It certainly never prospered under a British Govt.

@SuperFruitloopy As I said before, Britain HAD to provide the £7 Billion in order to protect their own financial sectors' investments. This money went straight to re-capitalisation, and served no other purpose. Of course Ireland wouldn't have immediately prospered upon gaining independance. It lacked any form of industrial development, with an overly focused Agricultural sector. It took years of stringent economic control to slowly eradicate this.

Ireland has followed EU orders to the letter, but has ultimately suffered. The British loan was lent at around 6-8% compared with the UK's 0.5%, so ultimately you will get a return - not simply on the security of your financial sector. Remember, the relationship between Ireland and the UK is mutually beneficial and needs to be secured.

John Swinney has announced that if Scotland becomes independent the north sea oil will make Scotland the 6th richest country in the world and the rest of the UK will be the 16th richest! While Scotland's share of the debt will be around £77 Billion the rest of the UK's debt will be closer to £1 Trillion. Businesses will look at both countries debt and their assets ie the money the countries have to deal with the debt and Scotland will be embarrassingly richer and better off than the Rest of UK

@neredis1 The only cultural genocide that has ever taken place has been against England, by the Labour oafs that you keep voting in. under Blair and Brown governments the official policy was to "water down English identity, with multiculturalism". Scottish identity has really strengthened under the union with England, not become weaker because Scotland kept it's own law system and religion. If Scottish indentity was under attack, as you say, it would not have survived for 300 years would it?
