@StevenHatesAsianKids spotters are just a good idea to have. Even in your video there are spotters on benches that are not stack on top of each other just to keep them from moving since the weight of the dancers are greatly higher than the platform that they're moving on. Anything can go wrong in a routine and both the tail and head have their hands preoccupy so it'll be difficult to catch themselves.
@StevenHatesAsianKids do you want to go up there and work your butt off like those hard working kids???? i didn't think so....so please think before you start talking about other people that way.
That just takes a lot of time and work. When I was first starting out I would take time during the day to stay in the position. Take the horse position and then lean onto your forearms to put yourself into the best position for the tail. From there you can practice your various drills, such a giahuatou and tanbu. Keep at it! You'll be sore, but lion dance is worth it!
@aznxmaster2 its difficult to help you specifically without seeing what you're doing while you're performing. Some of the advice I have is to be sure to stretch out well before and after you perform, and try to lift with your legs and arms as much as you can instead of lifting with your back. Just as theBESTsithlord said, practicing your drills will help the most!
BTW - can someone explain to me the significant or meaning behind the act of tilting the last two benches up?
I've seen clips where it started being on its side, the lion would lower it to get on, then on the way back, it would left it up again. In this case, you guys had it layed down then lifted it up at the end...why?
Sorry if this come accross as being picky, but next time, have the people holding the props wear blending color shirts to the background/floor to blen in...In this case, I'd recommend them wearing either red or blue shirts instead of white. ;) ...nice routine overall <3
sorry but that's on our end and the spotters are provided by us. We originally had people who were to come dress in all black but last minute, they decided not to show up. This will definitely be resolved for the future.

Love the Lion costume on this one, and Loved the roll at 1:41! Overall fun to watch. Touching the "water" at the beginning was funny too.
