  • Thanks for this video. It is nice to see. The physical examination is very important, though many physicians do not do it any more. I suppose physicians are relying more upon radio graphs and technology to do the diagnosing for them. One wonders how they would examine patients out in the mission field.

  • thanks

  • Dr. Heywood

We are using this video to teach JVD measurement for all our Cardiac nurses at Gagnon (Overlook Hospital, Summit NJ)

This is a great tool for teaching.

    Thank you

    ER RN San Diego!

  • Excellent !! Totally helpfull. Thank you very much.

  • hi sir, isn't it the external jugular vein where you took your measurement? i thought it should be the internal jugular vein? thank you very much.

  • Very nice one! TNX a lot!

  • Hope it helps!!

  • Thanks!

  • Great Video! I'm an M1 and this was definitely helpful!

  • one thing that you need to be cautious while making the estimate of the jvp is to get the ruler as orthogonal to the horizontal ground as possible, then shining a light from the top of the jugular pulsation toward the ruler again trying to make the light as orthogonal to the ruler as possible, only this way would the height of the venous column be close to being accurately projected onto the measuring device.

  • Great video... this is emphasized in our physical diagnosis class but we never see anyone do it.

  • Thanks...It is helpful...it has been a year for me in my university hospital and i've seen no one perform it !
