I use ableton live as a live set using a apc40 and launchpad. Does anyone know if you can use whats on the laptop screen (ableton clip view) as a background for the video's? ?? as a layer? This would be great for my audience to see what is happening on stage! Any help would be awesome !
Hey Candle, thanks very much this tutorial is over 2 years old and my methods and techniques have changed dramatically. I do a LOT of editing before a show and use Virtual DJ to tigger, cut and scratch the visuals .I have outputted up to 2048x768 with no worries out of Modul8, I now exclusively use the Photojpeg codec but I know that the Pro Res 422 codec is very good aswell. Most clubs have the standard definition 4:3 ratio screens. I'm making a new tutorial soon with my latest techniques. Ta.
Cool vid Evil thanks. I have a question. Are all the current VJ packages only able to output standard def vid? Seems so archaic to me! I mean are we not in the age of hi-def or at the very least 16:9? Maybe many of the packages being sold are trying to target a larger audience ie., people with computers that can handle such cpu intensive routines which maybe 16x9 might crash?
Loved how you began with your liveset, you know with the inkisch stuff, hated all that came after it, not allignd with the beats, text while lyrics (wtf annoying) anda balet during this way harder music style, hmmm.
thanx man, i'm trying to find out how everything works with modul8. Do you or does anyone else know what to do when all the red dot's won't go away. That really f*kt up when I'm performing.. and i can't find anything about it...
And also, do ou know if i can use mij videocamera fot video-capture in modul8 instead of my webcam?
Very nice video. I just recently got my hands on a friend's setup and starting doing some live VJ work because I host/promote events, and I have been looking for more information.
1) Where/how do you find a lot of your media? Do you create it yourself or use pre-existing loops/clips.
2) Do you have any recommendations for projectors, i see they can rage in price A LOT and just don't know much about them.
hi i just started to learn how to be a VJ, but the soft that i'm using is called "motion dive Tokyo" do you think that it is a good program to start with and work ?
nice man, lose the mac tho and come to the dark side Muhahaha....

@bandwagonretards modul8

@bandwagonretards here's a couple I could think of:
* vvvv - amazing and flexible piece of software, with a rather steep learning curve
*Max-Jitter - similar to vvvv, but not as powerful, and in my experience, often unreliable
*VDMX (mac only) - modular design, completely customizable, should learn QC before
*Resolume Avenue (better suited for beginners, easy to use, whatever) like ableton for video
*ArKaos GrandVJ
But remember most of them are similar, it's up to you what you do with them
