And about that "defensive rubbish" that you're talking about, defense is an art and still a crucial part of the game. Italy are the masters in that aspect of the game but they are not just a defensive team. They scored 12 goals in the 2006 world cup with 11 different goal scorers. They know how to attack and when they combine that with their solid defence they are a team that is verging on unbeatable. They are efficient and smart about the game and alot of times that is what pays off in the end
We were lucky like hell (penalty, red card, Ribery taken off the field), without that luck we would have been beaten, the results against Romania and Holland...don't even get me started on that one. We don't stand a chance against Spain, no matter how well we played them in the past.
uynn: We won because we had top talent on the pitch and we will continue to win if our playing gets better and better!! Pirlo and De Rossi's kicks were fantastic. Forza Azzurri!
That "top talent" of ours was obviously not able to beat Romania and Holland...sigh. We don't stand a chance against Spain, no matter how well we performed in the past.
The Azzurri can be a bit slow to get started sometimes. Remember the world cup, where they had a few marginal games and then gained momentum and did terrific against Germany and France? Same will happen here...
Doh! You obviously don't know a whole lot about football. I've been watching football for much longer than you and I can tell you that it's super unpredictable, there are so many factors that have can affect the end result, and it's not just a matter of who good or bad someone plays. Obviously you don't know anyyhing about football...
Woa, why so nasty all of a sudden?? I actually do know a lot about football, especially the Azzurri and Milan!! Of course things are unpredictable, DUH, but what does that have to do with what we were discussing? All I said is the Azzurri now have momentum & some drive over their earlier games, just like what happened in the world cup. You don't know any more than I do what will happen--JERK.
You said "did terrific against Germany and France? Same will happen here...". Since we met France in the final, you're obviously implying that we would just simply do the same thing all over again! Don't start me about the team growing, if they were growing, then would have beaten Romania, a team that later was slaughtered by an uninspired Dutch B-team with 2-0. And what have you seen in our game against France? A penalty, red card and a Ribery taken off the field...
And that result of 2-0 means we slaughtered France? Give me a break, we haven't seen anything impressive yet and they better hurry up, Spain is already knocking on our door.
All you do is living in la-la land and whishful thinking, you need to do a reality check about our team, because it performs REALLY poorly you dummy....sigh
I love the way the Azzurri play and I love their talented players. I also love the way Brazil plays, by the way. I see you are from Brazil. I am a Milan fan and we have many great Brazilians on the team as you know! Plus I work with someone who is on visa from Brazil and I am cheering for his team Fluminense in the Libertados final and will watch the game!
You know it's so funny how many of your fellow countrymen can be fooled by me pretending to be either from Italy or France (have done it with many videos), it makes you wonder whether they ever check a profile hehe
Well I was not fooled from the start, even when last night you actually had Italy as your country HA! So you are from Brazil and Brazilian football and footballers are great--but what did all this accomplish?
This is a Pirlo video about the Azzurri and the whole spirit of the original comment was lost. Here it is: I love Pirlo and I love the Azzurri!
The Azzurri do not play just defensively any more--they play an attacking game too--it's a balanced game. Brazilian coaches have said they would have Pirlo on their national team if they could...:-)
uynn italy doesnt perform poorly. This past euro cup was definitely not played to their full potential but u also have to take into consideration that they were missing their captain and key players. Italy has a quality team but their new coach was very inexperienced and didnt know how to use them. They had a bad euro and they need to make some changes but you're certainly not giving them the credit they deserve. They've proven themselves for many years. One bad tournament does not define a team
