The short interviews and films from that time show people to be more cerebral then. They kept in mind how what they did or said affected society around them. People also seemed to care a lot more about their appearance. You never saw anyone on television poorly dressed. Men wore tailed suits, women wore impeccably perfect makeup and carefully selected jewelry to match their outfits. Its as though being classy all the time was expected, not something just for a special occasion.

This was before Sellers truly became great. Interesting.

@Ramshobraja - He was already great in the UK, thanks to his work on "The Goon Show" from 1951-1960.

The interviewer isn't even listening. Look at her. She's thinking, "Take me now. Just take me roughly this minute."

Great clip. He's spot on about how funny an audience can be. Wish I'd seen 'Brouhaha'. God love ya Mr Sellers.

Brilliant comic, slightly unhinged, which probably helped. And look at them both smoking their heads off! A different world then.

Sellers could never do the same performance twice. He just wasn't made that way. Technique would have destroyed his talent
HEV29 2 years ago 3
Absolutely right. Sellers was an instinctive genius, technique would have smothered him.

He must have borrowed Henry Kissinger's glasses.

He was such a terrific actor. So incredibly versatile. Moving in dramas and hilarious in comedies. I wish I could find Prisoner of Zenda!
