  • Thats why I bought a Laptop with a 240GT Nvidia card and it's amazing.. no noise. and uses 45 watts total and gaming 75 watts total.!! Beat that!

  • @Dorisequador the fact that it's a laptop renders your argument null and void.

  • i have one, u cant hear anything

  • If you can not even more of a Sounkarte add in the PC, which I do not like that. I prefer to use in addition to the other, is a sound card because the onboard junk AC97/HD a standard of intel its sometimes nothing is to be used.

  • i have 2 4770 in crossfire with bridge connector and they are imensly loud

  • @monkey51289 5770 cf xtremly silence :)

  • my gtx480 is worse

  • @thehostler yeah and that card reaching like 92 degresse hot :/ when full load! maybe not yours BUT many many!

  • the fan on the 4770 is fucking loud, trust me i have one haha

  • @gschreiber94

I have one too and it's pretty silent. Maybe the power's not enough .. ?

  • watch?v=dTSSRE2WWO4

  • ofcourse it's gonna make a noise like that, ur airflow sucks.

  • gigabyte <3<3

  • can you partner a 4890 and 4770 with a sli bridge?

  • @yamaha1313 no you can't first of all you can only partner ati cards that are the same series make sure they have the same first 2 digits and second of all you need a crossfire bridge not an SLI if you want research some more stuff on Google abut crossfire

  • @yamaha1313 Not with an SLI bridge, cause that is only for Nvidea Video cards

  • What motherboard are you currently using?

My motherboard (Asrock N68-S) does not support CrossfireX and I am planning to buy my 2nd card so I am looking for an AM3 socket motherboard, compactible with crossfire X using DDR 2 RAM (cause I have 2x1gb DDR 2 modules)

    Here are my options:

    1-MSI 790XT-G45.

    2-ASUS M4A78 Plus

    3- Gigabyte GA-MA785G-UD3H

  • i have this card in crossfire x, but it doest sound as much as that

  • you have more airfloor to your card witch helps it keeping it cool, getting rid of the hot air and pulling in more

  • not the card that sucks

    the GPU cooler that sucks

  • install CCC and you can manuly controll the fan speed

but beware 30% (lowest you can go) make the GPU reach 70+ on load so watch your tempature!

  • Comment removed

  • Whats the best % to have the fan on? Im new to PC Gaming Hardware.

Whats the best temperature to try and keep it at, and whats temperature would you consider to be too hot?

    Thanks

  • @IP1NKYI

i run my at 40 when not oc'ed and 50 when at 830/850

    never goes above 60

mine is the xfx version with the blower cooler so i would say add 5-10% to my speeds

  • 30-40c is a good tampature if your doing simple tasks (suck as surfing internet and listing to music)

but if your going to be doing gaming i recomend 75% for simple games but into cod4, 5, and 6 and any of the crysis i would have it at 100% fan speed always better safe then sorry!

  • My 4770 get's a little noisy but only when it's understrain, I don't mind, great card I play almost every game on high with no lag.

  • i har you bud!

i got xfx 4770 (blower style) and i just installed windows xp again (downgrade form vista VISTA SUCKS SOO MANY PROCCESSES)

my crysis benchmark at1440x900 high settings no AA or AF 49.91 FPS

woopee i love my pc :D

  • Maybe that's because there is no airflow around the card/heatsink ? dumbass.

  • how about being less derogatory that may be the problem but you dont have to be rube about it

  • Should've bought a 4770 that has the blower-type cooler.

  • their probably at 100% speed my single 4770 gets quite loud at 100% but luckily its usually at 40% or 60% speed limiting the noise to a low hum :)

  • sorry guys

but i want to buy this card

the 4770 by itself its like that noisy ??

    i mean the card alone?

    PLEASE REPLY ;)

  • Get the Sapphire HD 4770 with the Artctic Cooling heatsink. It's cooler and much quieter, it has DVI, HDMI and VGA ports. Not the standard 2x DVI + SVGA.

  • thats a good idea but xfx come with more accessories and are more pritty, the after market cooler is only 20$ at ncix

  • Comment removed

  • It shouldn't make that noise...

PS: HD 4770... great value for money!

  • if you ppl have 17-19 inch monitor (i got 17 inch) u waste ur money on 4890 or GTX 260 cause they run better on bigger resolution.....

  • Yes, I agree with you, but you do get better performance if you run at a lower resolution.

  • exactly... 4770 will be a good choice for the small res

  • ummm no, you will last longer with the 4890 or GTX260 simply cause they are more powerfull, and the extra memory on them does not only help of high resolutions it also helps when upping AA levels which is what you want on lower resolutions.

  • ummm yes..... same performance in games........ with low resolution

  • kid dont be stupid, sure you get a 4770 but then you will have to upgrade again soon to keep up, with a strong card you do not have to do that.

  • @Decenium the 4770 is a amazing card

having them in crossfire is evan better

you dont need to upgrade aslong as you have good supporting hardware

  • "AA levels which is what you want on lower resolutions. "

eh....? ofc u want AA.... but it doesnt matter what resolution? the games are look the same on 17inch and 32 inch except on 332 its just bigger....

  • 17inch = 1280x1024(1.3mp) 32inch = 1920x1080(2mp)

2/1.3 = .53 , so 53% more pixels. lots of work for pc's not made in space

  • what od u mean eh.. Oo?

  • my 8800gt 512 mb exploded at 1680x1050 high 2xaa. not having enough memory can drop u to like 2 fps.

  • dont u want aa on all resolutions? btw 32 inch monitor and 17 inch monitor resolution maxed out... they both look excatly same....

  • oh, a 32" will look better, because it has a higher resolution. also, crysis has edge AA, which is an extremely cheap form of anti aliasing that crudely blurs the edges. so basically. i would suggest, never use AA on crysis, unless using your max resolution, and you still have frames to spare.

Though mostly you need crossfired 4870x2's to run 1920x1080 4xaa, 30fps and above.

also edge anti aliasing looks better on foliage than even 16xmsaa IMO, but i think many would agree.

    max res 0xaa = win

  • no no no.... bigger resolution doesnt mean better looking.... think! 17inch with 1280 x 1024 would look perfect... but 32 inch monitor with 1280 x 1024 would look crap but maxed out 32 inch would look same as 17 inch just BIGGER!

  • you're saying native res always looks the best and a 1080p tv running lower resolution like 1280 would look the same. this is true. but 1080p tvs have a higher resolution. 1920x1080 = 2,073,600 pixels , 1280x1024 = 1,310,720. thats 60% more pixels. thats the difference between 1280x1024 and 1024x768. you should be able to see a notable difference between 1024 and 1280. i personally play on a 2560x1600 monitor.also 32" is incredibly immersive because it covers most of your view.

  • He means it has the same sharpness, because you kinda have the same amount of pixels per ... (cm, mm, whatever)

  • I think you need you eyes checked then, 32 inch tv's have a relative low res for their size thuss it wont look as sharp as a 17 inch, but there is always AA

  • k play on a 2560 monitor and you'll hands down agree. and shiz ur pants

  • Why waste your money when the HD 4890's cost just a few digits more?

  • Because this produces less heat, uses less power *combined*, and is more powerful.

And, as you pointed out, this is cheaper :)

  • That's why :).....2 of these can beat a single 4890 and not to mention some games benefit from multiple GPU. The only problem is the 512mb GDDR5. This will be rectified however with the new 4770 is bringing out with 1gb GDDR5.

  • Umm, 2 of these HD 4770's do NOT beat one HD 4890. I've used these and the benchmark was LESS.

  • its 2 times more exppensive....

  • Everybody have different set-ups. Not everybody wants the same things. If your monitor is less than 22", it would be foolish to buy an ATi 4890. If you have money and you just want the latest and most expensive hardware because that's just your MO, then the 4890 is right for you. Common sense is instinct. Enough of it is genius...

  • man stop stalking around HD 4770 videos ffs... if you dont like it gtfo, its a great bang for the buck and not everyone lives in north america to get those stuff cheap... here in brazil this kind of thing costs 4 times more ! ( I've paid 400R$ on my hd 4770, a hd 4890 is ~800R$ ) So i wouldnt call 400R$ ( which here is basically whats the dolar is to you ) a "few digits"

  • Hmmm I heard an AMD - ATI Dragon Sound Inside your PC :P Man Big Power GPU - More Big Power Consum and More Hotest = Good Cooling

If An CPU or GPU have no Good Cooling the Rezoult will be bad and Low Performance :P Nice Monster Computer Have a Nice Day .Bye

  • you bought 2?

  • am gitting a gigabyte board next week and my next video card is going to be the 4770 also nice

  • he is probarbly using the fan control driver on the ATi drivers to show you what it sounds like under 2x 100% fans

  • it makes quite some noise there. is this normal? and if it is how dous 4890 sound. because iam considering both.

  • How come you're considering both those cards? They're miles apart in performance and price. I'm only guessing but I'd say the fan on the top card is balls to the wall just to keep it cool. Must be sucking in a shit load of warm air from the card below. You'd want some fairly brutal case fans to keep the ambient down in there. 4890 vs 2 4770s in crossfire? Geez, no contest is there?

  • I've seen some benchmarks between the 4890 and 2 4770's in crossfire, the 4770's pull up to around 20% more performance, and at least round here the cost is about the same.

  • Ur doing something wrong, because a normal crossfire 4770, will make about 50DB noise.

  • so why tomshardware called it unbeatable

when cross fire , google ati 4770 unbeatable

and take a look at thier review

  • iv got an i7 so go eat your am3 sh*t and one lhing look at the reviews between intel and amd intel kicks amds ass and kicks you in the teeth so think befor you comment you big headed twat....

  • I certainly hope Intel beats AMD, especially when the Core i7 costs at least $100 more than the PII 940 BE.

In actuality, gaming performance between the P2s and i7s are roughly on par with each other at 1920 x 1200 resolution, since the game at that resolution is GPU dependent.

In hindsight, go for a i7 if you want to 'encode' or run stupid CPU benchmarks, but in real world performance in games, internet, and productivity software, the P2 will just as be as good as the i7.

  • @Cypherus21 the core i7 extreme out perfomes the AMD in every level

Intel is the best flat out and the have much more possibility for upgrades and the are just the best overall

    INTEL FTW

  • Congratulations on being a douche bag fanboy. You win 5 internets.

  • @Cypherus21 hipocrit?

  • and Intel is a hell of a lot more expensive.

Intel: Leads in the new tech, but expensive

Amd: good quality, but at a good price, but not the most powerful.

  • @kalinin191 yeah and there a hella lot of money id rather just get a amd quad core for 99 bucks.

  • @har32 price over quality?

if your becoming a gamer the quality should not be an exception

  • @kalinin191 well i donthave alot of money right now currently I have a amd dual core cpu 3.5 gigs of ram and a ATI 4770 and I'm happy with that.

  • @har32 that always works

  • @kalinin191

It is faster but not better for upgradability. Intel are releasing yet another socket, possibly quad channel memory with 4 slots. Each channel supports 1 dimm only.

All this is planned for 2011.

  • its the gigabyte GA-MA790XT-UD4P just by lokking at the video...

  • It's sapphire

  • I think the gfx cards with out that piece of plastic covering it looks to run cooler temps? am i right?

  • They're about the same. The ones with the enclosed cooling solution push air out the back of the video card and out of the case, instead of pushing it into the case where all of your other components are.

  • only 2 pci e slots

  • What brand are those? MSI? XFX? Sapphire?
