no, the gendarmes are french militaries. They have rights and duties of the french militaries (military statuses) which are differents of those of the policemen. The gendarmerie is still a military corps which have a military police role in the army, a police role in the countryside and an anti riots role. Gendarmerie is a part of the french army like the "land" army, the navy and the airforce.

In slovenia first car in a convoy uses a combination of red and blue and the last one green and blue. If there is a convoy you MUST stop at the side of the road (with other emergency cars alike police, ambulance or fire enginesusing only blu lights you must just slow down and let them pass you).

Alos you won't see any emergency cars using sirens at night accept if there's a heavy traffic, road-crossing or if someone won't let them pass. But usually they don't use sirens... not all the time...

Convoys as they are common in paris. They are only gendarmes mobiles squads that move.

I am mobil gendarme of reserve, and drive in this manner is part of the routine.

Maybe it can't be seen in this clip, but I do remember something from the theory for a driving license, that a convoy has has a special colored light at the left side If I'm correct (here in the Netherlands that is) is something like that common in France? Or differs that per department?

In France, if the blue lights are illuminated, road users must be careful. If the siren is activated, the road users should allow priority to vehicles of police, Gendarmerie, fire departement, and SAMU.

In this video, is a convoy of Gendarmerie, a military convoy. It is strictly forbidden for road users to be included in this convoy.

In France there are no differences in signaling between the vehicles (except the sound of sirens.)
