It's funny in a sad sort of way how much fuss people cause on YouTube over little things... Yes, the cat isn't very happy and maybe she shouldn't be holding it like that, but trimming a cat's nails is required sometimes. Even though we have two cat posts, the vet said the Rema's nails were too long when we took her to the vets office and he clipped them for us. Also, the cat in this video seems healthy, which I think people should take into consideration.

I've been taking care of strays and ferals my whole life, I know when a cat is really annoyed/angry when I see it. And Gary was not, I repeat, NOT annoyed or angry.

People are so silly. They think regular grooming of pets is torture.

"Cats don't need baths! They clean themselves!" Unless they get into something nasty that ingesting would cause them ill (or they stink like my cat)

Unless they just wont use their scratching post - which some cats wont (my cat prefers the old couch that little does he know that's the only reason we keep it around).

They can get sick, they will smell bad, and the owner (who may love their cat very much) may be miserable because of the dander. I'm amazed how many people have no idea how dander works and say "Don't torture cats with water, it's cruel!!! They clean themselves!" Outrageous and ridiculous. I know my cat hates it but is very happy once he's clean; it's very apparent the change in behavior when he's dirty compared to when he's clean!

Maybe you should get a groomer to do that if she hates it so much. We don't cut my cats claws because he's a stray and he still hunts sometimes and there are lots of cats that tend to pick fights with him.

Agree with Mojo....I even asked my vet about trimming my cat's nails and he says they don't need to be cut. With a scratching post they will slough off naturally.

Sometimes we must also consider the other cats. We trim the nails as and when needed. Also to prevent injuries should the cats ever got into a fight.

I reckon she enjoys all the attention....You should see our cats when its time for deworming.

Hi everyone. I know our cat far too well. She's just being fussy as always. Gary is 2 years old now and never once did she tear off my face. I can guarantee you that she's all fuss and nothing violent.

i can only cut my cat's nail when my cat is very sleepy, and at most i can cut about 4 nails at most; i don't like to cut a lot of nails at once; and my cat wouldn't let me anyway. i'm very careful not to cut in quick

If you have a kitty that doesn't tolerate nail trims very well, then doing it when it is very sleepy is a great way to get it done! Just do as many nails as the kitty will put up with and then leave the kitty be for a while. Then once it is sleepy (or asleep), do another few. Over the course of an evening you can easily get all 18 nails done. :)

Trust me, if the cat was truly displeased, he would not have laid there and let her do it. He knows the routine - the nails have to get trimmed, and then he gets a lick of something good afterward. All the fussing was just a show, believe me. This lady knows her cat, and she did a great job of appeasing the kitty, loving the kitty, and still trimming the kitty's nails. She did nothing wrong, and shame on you to say you hope the cat bites her.

You can see the quick in the claws very clearly.  Simply avoid cutting the pink areas that are seen in the claws. :)
