I don't see anything wrong with this video.

1) Most jazz drum kits have very small bass drums compared to rock kits.

2) He obviously extracted the only drums you need to play the beat in order it make it clearer.

3) Don't say it's an easy beat, because it's hard for beginning drum students. If you're such an expert, then why are you watching the video anyway?

That was definitely not the "Neil Pert Technique". This is an embarrassment. I learned how to play that song at age 13, after I'd only been playing set for two years. I'm now almost 20, and from watching DVD's from Neil himself I've learned to teach myself the REAL "Neil PeART Technique"...it's all in the way he hits the drums and moves the sticks...not playing flabby lifeless inaccurate hi-hat patterns on a dinky two piece set.

Let me nitpick just the easy ones for you (obv. you're not a drummer and obv. a hipster)...  The kick drum should be pressed up against the drum head in between hits, which any good fundamentally sound drummer will work on before touching a complex beat from Neil Peart. Also a good drummer will not wear shoes & tight shirts because they don't help drumming

I used to march battery percussion and we would learn everything on a snare drum first, regardless of what we marched because it was pointless to carry around the tenors if you couldn't play the rhythm right to begin with.
