Its probably been said before, but you should see the aussie version of this sketch. Frank Woodley walks out the second the guy says "police check". And the US version holds its own against the aussie one...
being an australian, i think that axing thank god you're here in america shouldn't have beeen done so soon. it takes time for it to get better. and just get better people. dang, well watch the australian ones cause they're good. and yeah pitty it ended.
yeah, that's true, a lot of australian gameshows are from the US but i was pissed when i saw the english sketch show being copied exactly by the US. Nobody can act those scenes better than Jim Tavare, Karen Taylor or Tim Vine. The Aussie version of Thank God Your Here is also way better.
get over it its a show you australians are so quick to fucking point the finger at americans umm try you guys take concepts from us all the time like gameshows....clearly taking all of our formats so shut the hell up dude
amen! gosh 'waa waa waa, you stole our concept'. I think it's flattering. Immitation is the most sincere form! Apparently the show bombed over in the US. Dunno why, I thought some of it rocked, i just wished there was more I could see in youtube. Some skits end out much better, it CAN NOT be denied.
Yes, it can be denied. I'll deny it. The US version had some great moments, i'll grant you that, but the overall quality and spirit of the show is truly felt in the Australian version. We seem to be much more relaxed about going onstage and making absolute fools of ourselves. Maybe we can laugh at ourselves more easily...? I can't quite put my finger on it. But i've seen both the OZ and US versions, and I hate to be biased towards my own country, but we do it better.
There are many reasons why it didn't work, not just the celebrity guests being ordinary. The Host is just fake, our Aussie host Shane Bourne talks personally with stars and helps them through the door, this guy is just talking out loud to the camera. Also, it needed to stop cutting to Dave Foley and the audience. The best reactions are from the performers. Yyou can hear the audience laugh, don't need to watch them and seeing Dave Foley smiling every 20 seconds doesnt make for great viewing/
I am pissed! If you're going to take an autralian concept (or concept from another country) at least think of your own ideas instead of blatantly using the same scenes and dialogue...Look up Series One - Episode 1...
this was hysterical! can you put up the parts with Paul Rodriguez as the doctor and Kurtwood Smith as the ship captain?
