I have to agree with some points here. Yeah it is soccer 24/7, and yeah theres a variety of leagues, but unfortunately some of those leagues really aren't up to par. El Brasileirao however is a real treat to watch, as is la liga and the bundesliga. But the other leagues are for the most part lack luster. I love how he says that there is no cricket rugby or horse racing, i hate it when other channels show that.

EPL is so fast, so tense, and so rough that its not even comparable. regional and status rivalry is embedded in every match and is not just limited to two league games every season like the la liga. in EPL each season there are literally 4-5 teams that are legitimate title challengers and that is incredible. Just to show what an idiot Ray Hudson is, he is 100% wrong about what GolTV offers; there is NOT soccer 24/7. They waste a lot of time with Spanish-language infomercials, and they repeat the same games constantly. In a given week, they only offer about 6 or 7 hrs of live soccer. And they do NOT offer Serie A; that is the domain of the far superior Fox Soccer Channel. Stupid Geordie can't even pitch his own employer correctly.

Jstow, to be fair, when the interview was recorded, GolTV did have the rights to Serie A. On a typical weekend, GolTV shows more live soccer than Fox Soccer Channel and Setanta Sports. JStow, GolTV is as 24/7 soccer as is VH-1 is 24/7 music. It's a reality that most TV networks show infomercials during their off-peak hours. The South American leagues are still considered soccer whether you like it or not. In addition to coverage of the Bundesliga, GolTV has TV coverage of arguably the best league in the world - La Liga, as well as coverage of other leagues and 2010 World Cup qualifiers.

Why do you have such an axe to grind with Ray Hudson and GolTV?

The fact remains that Hudson told an outright lie/exaggeration when he boasted that GolTV shows soccer and soccer only, 24/7. It simply isn't true. The South American and Central American leagues are about as interesting as MLS, which is to say NOT AT ALL. As for La Liga, yes, it's a fantastic league, but it has fallen behind the English Premier League in quality (which is shown on, you guessed it, FSC).

As for my extreme dislike of Ray Hudson, it stems from his embarrassing and obnoxious style of commentating; a style which ruins the matches for me. I find football to be a game of beauty, and to have this Geordie simpleton shrieking and yelping and interrupting his partner (a real no-no in commentating) is as disruptive to that beauty as anything I can imagine. It's also insulting to my intelligence as a fan, as he seems to think he's the only one who recognizes a "good ball" or a chance.

I think it just depends on how you define "best". The English, Spanish and, at least this year, Italian leagues are all fantastic and great entertainment, but the English is the most widely followed here in the States, and it's what introduced me to European football in general. I just find it much easier to follow the EPL than any other league. As for the non-European leagues, unless you're from that country, why bother? The best players in the world play in Europe.
