i was just saying it wrong in my mind i was thinking ELLLihtist instead of eLeetist
thank you
he's just thinking that i'm a showing off guy
but i just think that if there was a good shot of a parkour run, it would attract more people to start doing parkour, and i just love to see some new traceurs and watch their progression, hang out, have fun
Stop being so elitist. A workshop is where you teach beginners. The important thing is spreading the popularity of parkour. Parkour is for improving have fun yourself; there is no need for showing off.
Parkour isn't just jumping around, the point is that you have a clear goal, use, adapt and apply predefined techniques to move efficiently, safely and logically through any environment.
"I've been doing parkour for 10 years.."
This is fucking stupid.
When you jumped around before, you were simply jumping around with no clear goals. Parkour is the intention and the method.
jackal you should realize that new traceurs say things like this all the time. there is something innate about parkour that makes it feel familiar to anyone who is just beginning. it's so similar to things we all did as kids. the new traceur doesn't necessarily understand the rigors of training that eventually begin to change that perception, but you don't have to curse them for it. that negativity won't help him or you.
You're right there, I was a little harsh in saying that. I apologise for the aggressive way it was put.
It does seem bad though that they are teaching after only a year or two of training, none of the people in the video seemed to be confident and consistent with even the basic techniques. I know a lot of the shots were of people who had started that day, but i couldn't tell the instructors from them.
they really didn't show any footage of the instructors playing honestly. Which is really weird because they ended up filming them doing a while run. That's campus news for ya x_x
This also was specifically a "Beginner's workshop" We had 3 yr old kids and some 45+ guys with beer bellies. So I wish you could've seen more of Zach and Charlie too, they are great guys and traceurs. But this was really all about spreading PK to the community. I would guess 50% of the people there hadn't jumped over something in years. So showing 10 ft wall runs and huge cat leaps or free-running flips would have been cool but not encouraging to people who want to start but can't vault a bench
On the contrary, my goal was very clear- I was trying to get from point A to point B. Though I may not have had a name for the practice, it was essentially the same was I work toward today. Sorry that I wasn't as eloquent in an impromptu interview with a gorgeous woman as you would have liked after having been working out for two hours.
Thank you for clarifying for the people who don't fully understand the philosophy of parkour. Perhaps try being more constructive and less insulting, next time?
I wasn't commenting on there not being enough "big" or "impressive" stuff, but it would have made sense for them to air the correct way to do something rather than just people learning. As I said before, a more than comfortable grasp of the basics.
It's probably not your fault, we've had problems with the media here too.
I still disagree with the whole "training for 10 years" thing. You may have travelled from A to B in playing as a child but you still had no knowledge of the moral, philosophical or technical aspects of parkour.
No publicity is bad publicity, though. At least it's starting to break out into the media and is becoming more well known. :)
And you're entitled to your opinion. I was applying martial arts techniques and philosophies of motion to it when I was younger. Maybe I wasn't as precise and technical as now, but I think that as long as the spirit is there, that's what counts. Maybe it was freerunning instead, if you'd like to change terms. I was never a stickler about differentiating between the two.
hey that guy in the beggining came to my fourth grade class to read to us that was 6 years ago
