The 4th Amendment was written to protect us from unlawful searches just like what the British had done. You see patterns in history: a people is oppressed (just like the American Colonists), and if and when they gain their independence, they try to protect their people from suffering the same oppression with laws (like the 4th Amendment). Sooner or later, though, we forget and screw ourselves with the same kind of crap.

I think that this legislation includes IMMUNITY for all sorts of internet companies! In other words, their privacy policy is a smokescreen for the customers, and the government dictates the REAL privacy policy and the companies are protected from lawsuits. A legal obligation to LIE to the customer! (Just a guess, but it really seems like an obvious clause in ACTA, considering what kind of fascist scumballs wrote this treaty!)
