not to be like everyone else and say its too expensive..but because much of the head doesnt participate in the actual 'solving' of the puzzle, could the outer shell be made of a cheaper material, and the important parts sturdier material?
@OskarPuzzle I really like this one. I went to Puzzle Palace and there aren't any prices listed anywhere. I trust when you say prohibitive, but how much do these cost? Would I possibly be able to buy the one in this video? :)
@AwenShirazi No, the prototype on the video is not for sale. You can estimate the price if you consider the volume and the Shapeways $1.50 per cm^3. Hint: it would be significantly more that $1000. Still interested? Then please contact me privately.
@SuperToasterBoy At this moment, I am not aware of shops that offer 3D scans as a service. However, there are shops that scan you in 3D and make some little art object from the result.
@CoxTH not a dumb question at all, I thought about it and then asked my mechanical engineering brother and he said that there is probably a way that if you turn one piece it controls others in different ways, the basic way of explaining this is that while you turn the chin the top is affected, while you turn the top the second piece is affected... basically there is some way that makes it so turning the bottom affects the top but turning the top doesn't affect the bottom... confusing eh?
How do you design your Products ? I'm very interested in starting to design my own Products, you only use normal Programs like Google Sketchup or photoshop?

@XXXFOREMANXXX Sorry, this Gear Head prototype is not for sale. If it were, it would cost several $1000, so I would not expect many sales anyway.

@OskarPuzzle Why use shapeways then? Ask mefferts Because the gear cube was cheap and it was massproduced by Mefferts
RedStoneFire 2 weeks ago
@RedStoneFire I do not think mass production of this puzzle would yield a positive business case ...

Just a dumb question:
Wouldn't it be enough to turn the chin until everything is in the right orientation?
