amazing video, I was up there today and it was so dangerous winds were 100mph plus with lashing rain, managed to get to top of pen y fan it was amazing,,
Hey you two Forbes... good work on this vid. Great walk, great area. I hope to do the horseshoe soon. Did Fan Y Big & Pen Y Fan but the weather closed in one cold January day so did not do the whole walk :o( Keep up the good work with your movie walking diaries.
I did the Pen y fan a couple of years ago, just before we reached the summit I changed into shorts , t shirt and flip flops just for a laugh , I got some looks at the top lol, it's a great walk but I'm glad I never joined the army and forced to run up it, that's just insane.

Abergavenny is about 15+ miles east of their location as the crow flies. They look like as if they started from Pen Milan and climbed up to the Tommy Jones Obelisk, I can see Cwm Llwch across the way. At 2:20 he said that on the left was Fan-y-big, well on the left is actually Pen-y-fan, and Corn Du on the right. At their position at 2:20 they 'were' on pen Milan. Fan-y-Big would be hidden by Pen-y-fan. Penyfan and corn Du are subsidiary peaks which collectively actually called Cadair Arthur
Pen-Y-Fan is, as they sais, just outside Abergavenny.
There are loads of Penybonts across Wales.
the SAS and Gurkahs and other brit units train all over the beacons and and other parts of Wales. They'll(SAS) even train in the radnor valley just 20miles from their base near Hereford.
Forbes gang?.. nice video. BTW a single F is i welsh as a V in english (not that i speak just know a few rules)
im not sure where pen-y-bont is, but i know the fance dance, did it last week in fact! :) you can see in on google earth, its the highest peaks in the area, which make the shape of a fan, im not sure whether the fan-y-big is included in that however, but i know the cribyn, corn-du and pen-y-fan are included
Nice vid, I work in Brecon and love looking at the Beacons when there's snow. Even then it's one of the busiest mountians in wales. Try some of the black mountians, less trafic and stunning scenery all the same.
Good Walk... Cycled on my Mountain Bike up there last Summer!- It was like a beach on the Costa Del Sol! CROWDED!!- There were even wardens keeping an eye on everyone!
Good editing - what software did you use? It looks great!
omg i went there friday just gone untill sunday we walked up them mountains the whole of saturday for 8 hours!!! i was completely fucked it was very enduring!!
Very apt music cued in at 05:58.Good video.I go up Pen y fan regular.Magical experience.Wouldn't mind seeing more vids.Maybe Sugar Loaf mountain? Good job Jo and Scott
Enjoyed the video. At the start of the Video there is a shot of you walking up a steep slope. Is that Cribyn? As we planning to walk up to Pen Y Fan via Cribyn.

Excellent. Thanks for uploading. We took a very similar route a few days ago. It looked very different then.

i'm not 100% sure but they start in a palce called Pen-y-bont and walk their way around, i think it's called the "Fan dance"..thanx 4 the reply.

yeah thats right, a challenge for anyone is walking the fan dance in combat gear, that'll wear you down.
