The conductor beats too hard. Forget about all the little subdivisions of the beat...think of the harmonic rhythm...think of the way the sea swells. The opening must be in 2...heaving, pulling...they speak of the breast of the ocean...we should feel that here. Too many pulses. TRUST THE ORCHESTRA...conduct fewer beats...and shape the phrases.

4:51 - 4:53, they somehow messed up the trumpet part. 6:28 the oboe comes in way too strong. Do they read the score? I can only imagine how mad Mendelssohn would be if he was alive watching this garbage! They need a LOT more practice.
Post your own recording of the piece - we really would like to know, how masters like you play it! Otherwise, if you can't play it at least so bad as we can, please shut up.
uhm hello..>:O i hope you can read the score because they are correct, unless you CAN post a better video, then dont say jack, because you cant do better
Don't worry, hrbacek.I also play an instrument(the piano),so I know how hard it actually is to play music in front of a crowded auditorium without making any mistake... Anyway, the performance was really great and I enjoyed it so much!! (In fact, this Mendelssohn's piece is one of my favourites)
If I understand your message well (use babelfish), you mean, that I played C instead of C# at the end of the overture :-) Yes, I know, it's an unpardonable mistake, but if you play some instrument, you probably know the moment, when you begin to think about the tones, you'll be playing a moment later. Almost every time you choose the wrong one, and this faux pas was such an moment :-)
When we played this piece once more (see the video response), I didn't think, just played, and I succeeded :-)
we performed this song this year at Dake, hated it at first because it was so hard, now I love it. Such a beautiful piece!

Wow... how does this piece need 3 trumpets? The assistant should've been placed off... also.. why have trombones and tuba just sit there like idiots?
This conductor should go die

what's the matter with 6:04?
in the notes it says pianissimo and what you are playing is mezzoforte!

The clarinetist made an error and you kill him, but if you hear the violins in the entery overture, there were twenty guys doing faults.

Lovely, aside from the tuning issues.
Well done trumpetist! I know how hard that piece is pitching wise, and he made a good job of it :)
