Decline of Lapwing is stated by BirdLifeinternational on data of breeding population. However only few countries conducted quantitative studies on such species (UK; Netherlands, CZ) but in the other great part of lapwing breeding range non quantitative studies have been done so we can't really talk about a real decline. Data from wintering areas do not suggest decline (wetlands International counts).

We protect Lapwing (a.k.a. Peewit) in Britain, aware their numbers are in steep decline. How the EU can pemit this in other so-called civilised countries is beyond me.
