the last good diesel ford was the 7.3l. we have 170k miles on it absolutely no problems. we change the oil ourselves and put new brakes on it ourselves. my dad has owned 2 toyotas the first was a Carola S manual the only problem was 1 of the door seals was coming off but that was from the door sticking on the ice we put 80k on it within 10 months. the is an 08 avalon. fast but knocks and the center consul is comming apart and it only has 65k. idk about the trucks but my vote goes to ford.

Well if it's any contest i had a 1990 toyota pickup and put on 460 000kms, only changing clutch, tires and brakes. My 2001 tacoma has 230 000kms and looks and drives like it's brand new. My 06 tacoma 45 thousand no problems. The rest of my family has 4 toyota's and they've all been stellar vehicles. I drive an f-350 as a work truck and this is my third f-350 in 5 years. My other crews run dodges and they all fall apart. not to say one is better but per 100 vechicles made domesticshavemorelemons

@joshuakloo Bah give me one example of something that has been built in the 21st century that is actual quality. The new hilux sucks, because it is new a new truck. Everything these days is built to fail. Built to last -until the warranty is over. Car companies want people to keep buying new, so when your 2010 ford F250 breaks down in 2013 you say "well a new one wouldnt break down". So they build them to last 5-6 years.
A 2006 HiLux 3.0L turbo diesel will outlast any ford motor, period.

the last good diesel ford was the 7.3l. we have 170k miles on it absolutely no problems. we change the oil ourselves and put new brakes on it ourselves. my dad has owned 2 toyotas the first was a Carola S manual the only problem was 1 of the door seals was coming off but that was from the door sticking on the ice we put 80k on it within 10 months. the is an 08 avalon. fast but knocks and the center consul is comming apart and it only has 65k. idk about the trucks but my vote goes to ford.

us trucks are one of the strongest, but toyotas are best in extreme conditions: arabian deserts-toyotas, african rain regions-toyotas & land rovers, north pole expeditions-toyotas; Since i was a kid i prefered us trucks more than italian supercars, but in case of buying one-i would chose a toyota

Well if it's any contest i had a 1990 toyota pickup and put on 460 000kms, only changing clutch, tires and brakes. My 2001 tacoma has 230 000kms and looks and drives like it's brand new. My 06 tacoma 45 thousand no problems. The rest of my family has 4 toyota's and they've all been stellar vehicles. I drive an f-350 as a work truck and this is my third f-350 in 5 years. My other crews run dodges and they all fall apart. not to say one is better but per 100 vechicles made domesticshavemorelemons

@CHASE06051990 I kow how long they should last, and if you spend money money on high maintenance then yes you can get 300 plus thousand miles out of them. The fact is we get rid of them after 250 thousand Kilometers because they're unreliable and too expensif to maintain at that point. These are used as work trucks, Out in the field, towing trailers, and put on about 300 kilometers or more a day. And the honda name is for a bike so don't assume i'm a civic driving 16 year old.

hope you have good breaks on that POS Toyota! I read an article today that more people have died as a result of faulty Toyota vehicles than any other auto manufacturer in history! I always had a feeling that Toyota seemed too perfect because no car company that big can keep a clean sheet like they did for that many years without covering something up. I suppose when you buy an American vehicle you guys think your buying a vehicle all made in good ole USA, its only assembled here, the US manufacturers use to have 20,000 vendors, now its down to 200, bigger and bigger pieces are delivered to the assembly plants. Never were any problems when the Toyotas were made in Japan.

Never had a single problem with any Toyota I've owned. Love them. As far as the recall, I am impressed at how fast Toyota is acting. I would never buy an American car, ever. That transportation secretary Ray Lahood is a total dumbass for telling people to leave their cars at home till the gas pedals are fixed and now is retracting what he said.
