  • R&R Hall of Fame is a mess ... desperately needs new management!!

  • @AGibsonJ nice comment, seriously, the Beastie Boys?Really?I mean what is the criteria anyway?Apparently anyone who has ever spoken into a microphone is in!They have gone from the hall of fame to the hall of mediocre to hall of the absurd!New management i have to disagree blow it up and try again recent inductees are an insult to Armstrong, the Stones,Beatles and all the others deserving of the honor.Any voting, managing or in any other way involved with this selection process should be ashamed!

  • Pretty Girl..So Pretty..

  • 17 dislikes??!!What are you people made of? Stone? Pure Granite? A meteorite perhaps?

  • i'd like to tame a wild time machine and ride it all the way back to 1970 so i could swoon linda ronstadt and marry her. it's now on my to-do list.

  • Pretty,,so pretty..

  • audience haven't got a clue what talent they are listen to do they!

  • @amsterdamkim What do you expect from a bunch of tourists from Nebraska?

  • pretty song buy a pretty woman. Thanks Linda..

  • Bobby Darin was one of those rare people who was good at anything he did. Business. stocks, piano, guitar , singer, sports ect... in other words , once he committed to something, he made an effort to perfect it.... 37 years old when he passed...

  • Linda is so sweet here...Very pretty..Gorgeous..Did she know how cute she was ?

  • @bjacko688 I would say yes.

  • Simply, perfection

  • What a vocalist! I always felt the emotion in her singing. Thank you.

  • she sends chills down my spine al the time

  • one of the greatest voices of all time

  • NOTICE, NO ONE SOUNDS LIKE LINDA...SHE IS IN A CLASS ALL BY HERSELF.. I LOVE THIS LADY. OH, YES.. BOBBY DARIN WAS ALSO ONE

OF A KIND. JOE DE LA ROSA, CA

  • FABULOUS

  • Beautiful, hard to describe such eloquence any other way? What talent! Mercy.

  • @gord888 This song was played at the end of Ally Mcbeal back 10yrs ago ??????

I've had it in my mind but could never find it. A channel called Reelz on cable are doing re-runs of Ally .

The 1st. nite I watched it was the one. I almost cried. Then I heard the real version by Linda, I did cry.

  • I saw Linda at the Dallas Convention Center years ago, she was wearing cowboy boots and a skirt much like the one in this video. She wasn't very tall but her singing voice more than made up for it. Not too many people can stand on the same stage with Bobby Darin, he was a true Icon right up there with Louis Armstrong.

  • Calaxus.........You might be 13 years old....But in you lives a much more mature spirit. Its much too damaging to relate to (non peers your age.) I suggest you expand where the stimulation is best., and where your real peers are. It must be very difficult for you. I would suggest further to analyze Bobby`s attraction to Up-tempo songs, like Mack The Knife, Artificial Flowers, If I were a Carpenter, and Lady Came from Baltimore.

  • Thank You. That is all I have to say.

  • I can't stop listening to this song <3

  • Totally awsome !

  • Such a great performance, back in the days when the audience was only feet from

the performers. Linda was right in the middle of everything there. Thanks for the

    posting...never seen this before.

  • My favorite song by Linda Ronstadt and her first big solo hit (not counting Different Drum when she was part of the Stone Poney's). Thanks for sharing.

  • so very pretty gorgeous eyes beautiful hair very cute

  • I miss you Bobby.

  • Bobby Darin was my hero at 6 years of age (thanks mom). I am now 57 and I love Booby Darin just as much today as I did then. He was the foundation of my love for music.

  • After more than three years without my soul mate, this song still KILLS me. To this day. Don't get me wrong, I'm completely enamored. As my tears fall.

  • she never drew one response from that lame crowd either lol

  • he Bobby Darin didnt he die in73 or 82.of a heartattack or cancer didnt he.

  • @mikr671 He died following heart surgery in December of 1973. He was 37.

  • Thank you, Santa.

  • Bobby is a LEGEND!!!

  • He just left the stage - not the tune. You can still hear his guitar playing right to the end of the tune. He probably had to get ready tor another number and needed to get back stage the second Linda stopped singing. Just a guess.

  • @freddiemesquit1 Yes, about 2:17 the lady starts reacting to Bobby's leaving but there are two guitars playing. Bobby is playing a lead rift and in the background another guitar plays the tune and continues to the end after he leaves the stage. Watch his fingers and listen closely to the guitars playing. Bobby doesn't strum the first three notes being played at the beginning of the measure to the end of the song. The tune is played on a gut string guitar and Bobby's lead a steel stringed guitar.

  • 14 people are going to have trouble finding love for a long, long time.

  • @sneezyize How you can not like this? Will we ever stop being in love with Linda?

  • 13 people don't know what true music sounds like

  • Does anyone know why Bobby Darin left the stage in the middle of this song ?

  • @Roelandvanreem - probably to get ready for the next "bit". After all, it was his special so he was probably running around backstage like a madman from one spot to the next. Sure do miss him and his music . . .

  • If you don't like this song, you are a moron

  • why does this even have a dislike?!!! omg people!! classic!!!

  • What's really incredible: the original cut was the work of Linda and four, FOUR! Nashville session musicians. They cut it live in a three hour Saturday morning session, Buddy Spicher on fiddle/violin (he played both styles), Weldon Myrick on steel, Norbert Putnam on harpsichord and bass, Pete Wade on rhythm guitar.

Those are all the musicians on LLT! Incredible, four players could create a classic!

  • People, specially men, don't know how to hold their tears when linda sings this song....many play like they are not there, some others, like Bobby...decide to "Just leave"........many men actually weep in fron of their wives and children, something not very acceptable in this society. The song is a plain simple masterpiece sang by the right person: "lovely Linda".....

  • Thank you for posting. Just beautiful!!!

  • Just a girl and a guitar. Nothing more. None of that noisy electronic music and fillers that some musicians have today.

Any time past is better that the present.

Thanks for sharing this video with the world of music lovers.

  • These were the great stars of the past. WE don't have singers like Linda anymore.

Linda is excellent and the author of this song....super excellent !!

  • I don't think Bobby left the stage, she walked down stage......

  • When How???

  • The 70s Rule.

  • I Miss you I wish I could talk to you , love LAW

  • Linda: beautiful woman, superlative voice.

  • He looks a heckofva lot like Kevin Spacey! The resemblance is uncanny!!

  • Comment removed

  • @SkidRowJosephine He looks more like Kevin Spacey than himself!!!

  • I love how generous Bobby Darin is here.

  • Isn't that guy dead??

  • @SkidRowJosephine yes unfortunatly

  • Beautiful.

  • Always loved this osng!

  • Simplistic and beautiful. The voice of an angel and beautiful too. Today's female singers couldn't shine her boots.

  • how graceful a man is Bobby Darin here and how gorgeous and talented is Linda Rondstadt, Wow,

  • Wow this is priceless.

  • Why is this wonderful voice not in the R & R Hall of Fame??? She has sung virtually every genre - and beautifully every time. Some of her songs are themselves classics, including this one.

Cleveland / Hollywood : GET IT RIGHT and put her in the Hall.

  • @puboffender54 Because the RRHOF is owned and operated by Phil Spector. There's been impossible bias towards many very talented people who had far greater impact on "us" than half of the duds that are enshrined there now. It's really silly playground bullshit! Linda should be there, so should The Moody Blues.

  • Wow...awesome...simply awesome. What a haunting love lost song. She knocks it out of the park with that wonderful voice and the passion in which she puts into it. Almost made me tear up...and that was when I first heard it in the 70's. I still get that same feeling today. Double thumbs up.

  • Why isn't Jerry Brown on guitar? Just kidding. What a combo of super-superstars!

  • The audience seems disengaged and indifferent??,

  • Such a pretty girl...

  • Did anyone notice Bobby walked off "during" the performance?

  • Calaxus good for you darlin'. my grand daughter, when she was a teen ager found me a long lost cd of Darin's that she loved too. You have a good ear. This is a prime example of two artists making music for all time.

  • She was simply a dream with a voice of the "sirens".

  • Old gits like me fell young again when we see this stuff , right on linda , go girl!

  • I've always loved Linda since I was a kid

  • That audience seems like their emotionally void and removed, and a bit heartless lol

  • @imstillstanding2043 They were just in awe of this great performance going on before thier eyes !

  • @imstillstanding2043 You say the audience appears 'emotionally-void and removed (schizoid?),, and a bit-heartless' (psychopath?) ,, lemme ask this; Are there still lingering questions as to the explicit origins of the American Zombie? I think not.

  • So moving...Gorgeous,,,

  • Yes, he was a star, too bad, he died toooo young.

  • I love the sincerity of this song..pure and honest.Linda has the simple beauty we all hope to have

  • She sings this song so beautifully -love it!

  • @tomk773 One of the cleanest and clearest voices of her generation able to sing anything from the softest ballads to stuff that kicks you in the nuts!

  • @UncleGweilo Yep. My guess is her versatility is what's kept her out of the Rock HOF. She certainly deserves a place there.

  • @coyotesong Versatility has nothing to do with it. The voters of the R&R HOF are idiots. Did you see the new inductees?

  • Beautifull!!!!!

  • Without a doubt one of the greatest voice of all time. What a performance with so much of emotion put into it which brings me to another singer from Taiwan called Tracy Huang. Listen to her redention to this track and comment on what you think?

  • So very pretty here...and what a performance...

  • How beautiful! One of my favorite singers of all time with a very powerful an dynamic voice. Bobby's guitar work fits perfectly too.

  • One of the greatest vocalists of all time.

  • WAY BETTER THAN PATSY CLINE!

  • as i listen tears well up in my eyes,I don't know why ? and i think I'm gonna love her for a long long time.

  • Good for you, Calaxus! Bobby was multi-talented! I had the privilege of seeing him when I was 14 and now I'm a grandma and I still love him! It was never Elvis for me... it was always and forever Bobby!

  • I'm a 13 year old kid who loves bobby Darin. Peeps make fun of me for that but Bobby Darin will always be my hero. His songs make sense and as soon as you hear his melodic voice you become absoloutely desynchronized with the world. You get lost in a world of peace and prosperity. Bobby Darin is the very divine spirit of music.

  • @Calaxus

Don't listen to them! You're right, Bobby was fantastic. He had great talent and was a superb human away from the spotlight. Don't worry. The coolest people are the ones who don't care what others think (but don't be rude about it!) :) Bobby defied the norm: while all the others started out Greenwich Village and turned Vegas, he did the opposite. Remember, back in the day, Bobby WAS cool and respected. Leave others to their Gaga dudu. I'll take Bobby anyday. Miss him so much.

  • @Calaxus That was ridiculously deep for a 13 year old observation however you are exactly right. People like Darin and Rondstadt had the ability to perform alone on a stage and capture and mesmerize an audience with no light shows or a hundred dancers behind them. Your generation rarely sees this level of real talent. Glad YouTube has given you a window to the musical world I grew up in.

  • @Calaxus dont pay attention to those people. i use to get picked on for liking Frank Sinatra. Stick to your heart ..i'm 36 now and i'm glad i did.

  • @Calaxus What a beautiful comment, don't ever let them change you ok ;0)

    Take care :)

  • @Calaxus He was so talented in many areas...he played guitar, drums, piano, harmonica, sang, danced and was a great actor. Let the peeps suffer. Yer on the money.

  • @Calaxus You're so very right!

  • @Calaxus are you a 13 years old ?!? and you talking like that ?!? COMPLIMENTS from italy ....for the talking and the thoughts , you are very mature for your age ....

  • @Calaxus You are definitely a winner. Bobby Darin was the perfect entertainer. Good for you you allow him into your life.

  • @Calaxus Don't listen to morons who make fun of you. You have taste and you know what music is all about. I'm 30 and I was into the Beatles and Zeppelin when my friends were in to New Kids On The Block. Those kids can't help that they're lame. Forgive them. ;)

  • She's so beautiful.....matches her voice.....

  • she sings also in Spanish

  • So Beautiful...

  • I'll never forget the first time I heard this, I was probably 13 or 14, I was babysitting and came across her Retrospective album. I only had her Heart Like a Wheel LP and was not familiar with her older stuff. I could not stop listening to this, I played it over & over & over again. I was just blown away, I could not believe that anyone could sing so beautiful yet mesmerisingly sad, you could just feel her pain. I have never been moved like that. So sad her talent is lost on today's generation.

  • @bananastewss Don't you love youtube, for giving us an opportunity to see performances of songs we've loved for years - and which we never thought we'd see performed.

  • @edmundus1581 Well said. I 100% agree.

  • @edmundus1581 You said it my friend,so much of my past I've found through youtube and had a chance to reminisce thanks to this technology. Thank God there were people there years ago that had the insight to document performances like this so all who had not yet arrived can now witness the treasures that have come and gone in the world of entertainment. Enjoy!

  • @44patroy Thanks Patroy! I haven't watched this for quite a while, and I'm so grateful for getting a reminder to watch it again. This performance is almost heartbreaking.

  • @edmundus1581 Yep! I'm an old guy who remembers all of the old tunes. This is definitely one of those great tunes by one of the best voices we've ever known.

  • @edmundus1581 YES you're right, it's awesome

  • Heavens to Murgatroid! What a joy to watch today for the first time! My fave song of Linda's. Not only an exqusite voice but one extremely attractive lady! And how amazing to see Bobby Darrin accompany her on guitar! Though I'm not surprised...I've read he could play many instruments quite well. THANKS for posting this fascinating footage! You've MADE my day & my week! :-)

  • Wow.

  • Ki ez a picsa ?

  • Ann, try as I might I can't get you out of my mind. I am defiantly "Living in the memory of a love that never was" please forgive me I'm really trying to move on without you.

  • I could listen to Linda R. sing these songs forever. She was my favorite singer back in the day -- although we girls were all kind of jealous of her, we admired her so much -- I even had this haircut :) Such a little thing that could really belt it out. And the songs she chose to sing back then were awesome.

  • ME FACINA LAS CANCIONES RANCHERAS.... Y ESCUCHE POR PRIMERA VEZ EL NOMBRE DE LINDA CON CANCIONES MEXICANAS, MUY ADMIRABLE LO QUE HACE... MI PASION MAS GRANDE ES CANTAR.. Y UNA DE MIS METAS, Y MI GRANDES SUEÑOS ES PODER HACERLO EN INGLES... SEGUIRE LOS PASOS DE LINDA RONSTANDT... Y,,,,,santadude GRACIAS POR COMPARTIR ESTE VIDEO.. ME ENCANTO..

  • @sandritabonita22 Don't know what you are saying but if it's good, I agree! Linda's the best there ever was!

  • @sandritabonita22 Siguele echando ganas hija, algun dia llegaras. Yo conoci a Linda por sus canciones en ingles, en los anos 70. No teniamos idea de que pudiera cantar en espanol tambien, nos quedamos muy sorprendidos, pues, admirados. Saludos y buena suerte.

  • @gruntball Gracias por tu buena vibra!!!!! si le echare mil ganas.. si ella puedo yo tmb. pero alreves jejeje!! gracias.. xD

  • What a duo.

  • Note the guitarist with Linda 40 years ago -- the great Bobby Darin.

  • Don't forget "Amy". One of his best songs. Too bad his critics were such morons

  • I'm crying as I listen to that song...just like the guy seating behind her, by the end of the song....very romantic song.....

  • My first lady of the true songstress.

  • attila jelinek

    indie music award winner

    -nominee

    hello linda

    nice to meet jou

    hope jou are well

    really great vids here

    al the best

    atti. hugs

  • I had no idea they'd ever performed together. One of Linda's earliest solo appearances on television, and one of Darin's last.

Nice guitar work on Darin's part, as well.

  • Love this song very much,

  • Simply Wow!

    R.I.P Bobby

    You are unforgettable!!

  • Bobby started the song, Linda ran with it. Bobby got out of the way, What' s the mystery?

  • Damn, is she cute or what! Oh yeah, she can sing too. ;)

  • yes the best of all time (one of)

  • In my lifetime (almost 64), there's never been a female singer with the beauty and range of Linda Ronstadt. Her physical beauty when she was in her twenties is almost distracting- how is that much beauty in one place possible?

  • @slownoman I would put Pat Benatar in that category as well

  • @sudburylawyer Yes, Pat was smokin', no doubt. When I spoke of Linda's range, i was thinking more of range of styles than octaves of vocal range. Props to both!

  • @slownoman Check out some of Annie Haslam's videos on YouTube, as well as Renaissance, (she was lead singer). I love Linda's voice- but Annie is my favorite.

  • for a man I proposed to in St. Catharines, and, I got his ex-wife on his landline phone answering machine.

  • Se parece mucho a la cancion Como mehaces falta de los bukis

  • Linda is amazing, but that was one odd clip. Where did Bobby go? What was up with the audience? They couldn't focus on her, squirmed in their seats and sometimes looked like they were in real pain. She deserved nothing less than rapt attention,

  • @dudleycunningham , I don't get what was up with the audience either. It is strange, and can someone please explain to me why he left the stage??

  • @tmh2939 To give Linda the spotlight.

  • @tmh2939 Maybe he had a costume change, and there was a second guitarist set up to take over at that point.

  • @tmh2939 To continue with the costume change theory, that would explain why Linda was blocked to move down the "runway", leaving Bobby out of the shot.

The exit added to the humility Darrin displayed by just sitting their quietly playing the guitar part, rather than insisting that Linda let him sing the second verse or something.

  • What a beautiful girl..

  • Why did he leave the stage?

  • I still can't believe that she hates her own voice, but she does. This is because every human who has ever listened to a recording of their own voice, hears something different than when talking or singing to themselves.

  • Like eh,,,,WOW!

  • Sure she is one of my all time favorites

  • So, why did Bobby leave the stage? I don't get it. Was he the one playing guitar?

  • Bobby Darin was a legend, he stood up for his freedom and was a peaceful man.

  • I don't get the Bobby Darin connection. He died in 1966. Very popular singer, great talent, born with a hole in the heart. 60's medicine was nowhere as good as today.

  • @royallaspice1 I think you'll find that Bobby Darin died in late 1973

  • @royallaspice1 Bobby died in early '70's, on operating table for heart surgery, he had rheumatic fever as a child.

  • Every girl singer wanted to sing as great as Linda Ronstadt she is an amazing singer an original.......

  • If I had a time machine... I would go back for Linda.

  • So pretty

  • lovely...makes me wanna fall in love allover.

  • she is fantastic

  • I think he left quietly during the song in response to the words of the song and it was planned to be that way. It's a song about the end of a relationship. It makes sense to me that Linda would be alone at the end of the song. However, I guess it could have been that Bobby needed a hit of oxygen or was moved by the song, etc.

  • Her voice is so clear. Love her--Havent heard much from her lately.

  • She's just so easy to fall in love with, and on so many levels.

  • I hear you man, I wish.

  • Gorgeous girl..so sweet..beautiful voice..one in a million..beautiful..love her beautiful dark hair gorgeous so nice..

  • Takes my breath away today just like it did 40 years ago.

  • 40 ? 1975 I think

  • @robzombay72 the notes say she appeared on Darin Invasion 1970 - that would be 40 years ago.

  • Love this Song, timeless

  • Great pleasure to listen such wonderful voice

    sweet sweet voice
