This all started because the gray one cut some limbs off some trees that were growing over his property/fenceline, which is his right, but he cut them way beyond the property line which is illegal in most states. To top it off he botched the job and the orange one lost some valuable trees to disease because of it, so he was really pissed. I think the gray one finally sold his property and moved to another county.

@pig66pv You were right to let them fight it out on cat terms...just a future note though, and you probably already figured this out, when your cats get past 10, and start slowing down i all areas, don't let a rival cat come up...our cat is at least 14 or 15 now, and when another cat comes up, she runs away usually, either hiding or if we happen to be outside, she runs to get inside. Used to fight just fine, but now we have to chase/ scare off the other cat and keep her safe.

Most cats prefer to be outside, and if fighting was that stressful for them, they wouldn't bother leaving the house. If I believed my animals were in any real danger, the fight would have been stopped, and I would not let them outside.

On the subject of noise, a short cat fight is a hell of a lot more quiet than a dog pacing around the yard barking all fucking day. Aside from situations like the one posted above, cats are quiet.

A safe, fenced in yard is different. A friend of mine has a lg yard & a tall stockade fence around it. Only 1 of her 4 cats goes out. She never leaves that yard. But, she thinks she's a dog though. The doggies go out, so does she. The doggies run around the pool, so does she. The doggies come in, so does she. It's really very cute.
