  • Is this when we snap our fingers?

This will be the year 2012, unemployment is high and VISA doesn't care.

Marketing giants screwed the world as well as MacDonalds and Coke. They are not a food group.

  • These labels for supposed disorders are nothing more then people's need to give something a name to identify them. LIFE causes these emotional responces not a chemical imbalance, big pharma and doctors everywhere are protfiting majorly from this FRAUD!!

  • This is one of the lamest videos I've ever seen

  • Sorry, your Esteem Needs section about a constant yo-yo'ing of bad/good feelings when a certain person, say, parental figures who are invalidative and belittling of you, are around and then not...you're saying that that can constitute as a Bipolar disorder for you? It's not just a toxic relationship - it will straight up cause you to come up with this disorder?

Sorry, I've replayed that part several times now trying to be sure that I've understood correctly.

  • Medication of the symptoms... we do it everytime we have a coffee for a pick-me-up. What about diagnosis by medication? (socially sanctioned biomedical experimentation). In a system that pathologises emotional variation with a view to labelling for the purposes of medication we would all fit into the scope of psychiatric treatment at some time in our lives! There are so many effective alternatives now that pills are back in the blunt instrument caveman era of medicine!

  • Great information. I've been passing on Maslow's model (which I learned in marketing class) and applying it to life management as a model for assisting others to get back to basics to underpin their overt success at life. To have sustainable success in any of the higher levels attention to our basic survival needs is essential. The details are individuality.

  • Thanks for the clarity. Losing my job, house, wife, and connection with my children, I was diagnosed as clinically depressed, given anti-depressants. I decided instead to embrace non-violent communication (NVC) a four step process of observation, feeling, need and request. Understanding the need I can choose to act creatively to get it met rather than tragically; as such NVC as a tool can help to locate ourselves on Maslow’s model and creatively respond.

  • Hmm So I'm bipolar and have been on meds for a little of a year. Can I get off them cause like you said first I seem to get very happy idk why and very energetic so I wont sleep for a few days which causes me to hallucinate and then after a couple of days with no sleep I usually get really tired and down in my depressed mode where I over think everything and just want to sleep and overdose on sleeping pills >_>

If I fix my sleeping schedule I will be okay with out my meds though right?

  • cool....very informative...

  • @EasyAsIsGets XOXO Thank YOU!

  • It is a very deep and interesting view of a human nature . I want to know more of how the mind works . Good thing to know .

  • @Rogadoable this video does not really explain how the pyramid really works. one can only self actualize once if ALL of the other needs are met. If one doesnt have the primary bottom needs met they can not even think about possibly trying to meet any of the others. most people in the world are nowhere near self actualizing, and this is what causes mental illness and depression.

  • This video clearly proves that people in America are childish. To make a summary for you; this lady is telling you you have some kind of "disease". She offers you a lot of labels for "emotions" you can choose yourself, as long as you still run to the farmacy. How ignorant the american sheeples are. Psychiatry is never a good answer, it is all a chemical casino. Menatl Health is a combination of two words that have nothin to do with each other. Don't be fooled by fancy names for state(s) of being

  • i learn a lot from this video

  • Great video!

It looks like the hierarchy of human needs can explain why the marriage rate is declining so & why so many woman are stuck with being alone (especially once they get a bit old or have some other imperfection).

The need for shelter and safety is a higher priority than love. Divorce is a financially shattering experience where men lose and have to replace every item on the list. Risking the loss of the entire list in exchange for love can seem like a stupid impractical prospect.

  • @vention4wh

This pushes the women who are at the lower end of the appearance scale into involuntary solitude.

I'm a good example of this. I look at my current life with ZERO debt, a paid off home and about 2500 dollars a month over and above all my bills and regular spending. Then I look at my married coworkers and see how miserable and poor they are. And every once in a while one of their wives throw them out and destroy their lives. I weigh the two options and choose to stay single

  • @vention4wh

    3. Almost all of my needs are met so I'm a pretty happy guy (possibly the happiest out of everyone I know) There is one need that I choose not to meet because it throws all the other needs into danger.

In a world without the family court system that's so totally focused on victimizing men, I'd love to have a family of my own. In this situation it's just too dangerous.

So for the women out there who are involuntarily single, that's why. Millions of men have made the same choice.

  • @vention4wh You are so right! That is why I am single and never married.

  • @cardinalbob1

Ha, Good for you dude. As the number of men who choose skip the whole marriage thing increases, maybe women will start to get the message. Of course by then it's too late. For example I was on a dating website not too long ago and saw this 47 year old woman who wanted to have a family and a kid. Ha! What on earth could possess me to sign up for that fiasco! No way do I want to be putting a kid through collage when I'm 65!

Too late beatch! She made her bed, now she has to lie in it

  • @vention4wh Oh, tell me about it!

  • Excellent! I would like to add under "Physiological Needs" under "toxicity" that fluoride in our water causes a lot of physical diseases along with depression. Fluoride is a poison and along with being in our water supply, is also in antidepressants such as Prozac (as sodium fluoride).

  • @ayemaya75 ...Yes. Thanks for pointing that out, real interesting isn't it? Why are they poisoning our water and food? Is it because it's cheaper? But fighting disease and trying to rid cancer from a body is a whole hell of a lot more expensive than any preventative measures we could take to ensure the health and wellness of the human species. I guess the individuals responsible for making those decisions prefer to maintain complacency rather than THINK!!!

  • @SelfActualizeSarah

"fighting disease and trying to rid cancer from a body is a whole hell of a lot more expensive than any preventative measures ..."

Food for thought: Expensive for who? The ill people or the corporations? Who benefits from these decisions? The decision makers? Do you believe that decisions are made for the welfare of the people or for their personal bank account? Is there more money made off of illness or wellness? Do you think that there may be some "greed" involved?

  • Great video. Looking forward to the next episode because consumerism and technology are two things i'm currently struggling with.

  • she was telling the whole thing too slowly. i couldn't concentrate on it. i got too impatient.. it was like she was reading off an auto que in a somewhat annoying monotonous tone.

  • Excellent look forward to the rest of the series

  • wow that was somewhat enlightening to me.

    thanks alot.

  • Sooo looking forward to your mentioned videos. Love your chanel. Best wishes from Germany. :o)

  • Sucralose not only causes weight gain but it affects the brain. On Mercola's website there is a place where people go to tell of their experiences with Sucralose. Read just a few of them and you will be convinced it is a poison. I was overwhelmed and could hardly believe how bad this stuff is.

  • yay brain food you cute awww every one deserves needs mets cutey even you cutey so .. cutey if youre needs not met .. ill meet them cutey

  • Very interesting video!

  • Is this a reboot of the human needs/Maslow's Hierarchy series? Great start to a topic you have not delved into as much as I would like. Thanks in advance for moving forward. I look forward to the next post. Where (how is) Sarah?

  • I love this series of videos so far, keep up the good work!

  • Awesome video!

  • Maybe it has been asked already, but I am curious to know when feelings of distress for not having your needs being met are getting so dysfunctional that one speaks of disorders, Are all people in the end free of all labels? How does humanistic Psychology looks towards actual disorders (if they are acknowledged) and where can you draw a line for yourself, whether it is just a need not being that creates for instance a chemical imbalance and where it truly is a disorder? great video!

  • fantastic presentation! excellent summary of Maslow's study. thank you! ^_^

  • *Talking about the start of the vid*

I dont believe that you can just say "So if you want to feel happy and fullfilled you need to reorganise your life" i dont think that in itself is a very fair comment., i have lived with metal illness for many years now and it is not as easy as just rearranging your life so you'll be happy, also not everyone can do this some maybe possible via self, others may need help and for some it may not even be possible.

  • @kathryn0angle

I also had a little bit a doubt with this phrase. It is very easy to belief life is absolutely makable at all times. That phrase didn't sounded very humanistic for me honestly. The rest i liked the video. I also am still struggling to create better conditions and it is hard to find in some cases you are just depending on others for it. One can only do ones best.

  • Its nice to hear the truth versus the lies mental health has thrown at us

  • @MrNthDegree Vitamins that all can fit in a pill is not all the nutrition we need. We also need carbohydrates, proteins, fats, etc in larger than pill size quantities. The best food as a 'logical' solution might be astronaut food or something, but people are people and don't necessarily want healthy food

    *drinks energy drink*

  • My needs is to "eat" that wonderful woman -:)

  • @globe255 So my needs is basically LOVE. But before i can enjoy the love fully i need to eat something healthy and nutrient (not fat). When i have had the love i can climb up to the next level namely self-esteem. The self-esteem is a result from the love. Because of the self-esteem i can climb to the top and actually be creative and solve problems of any kind- of course depending on my intelligence level. The sleep is of course the base for all of it together with home and good family relations

  • very informative vid

  • Good looking host , good content.

  • Heck, I got just about everything she brought up. I'm in real trouble. Great video, but it has now depressed me even more.

  • @drummerboy54100 ... Own your feelings, don't let 'em bring ya down! YOU choose how to feel, but if u wanna feel depressed... Become aware of why you're feeling that way, and choose to rearrange ANY issue into a suitable situation for you, or you can choose to accept the situation you are in. Through acceptance you can find peace. Though, if your acceptance cannot offer you peace, then you must realize the decision of your happiness is in your hands.

    Sending Peace ~ ~ and happy self-analysis ;-D

  • Thanks for posting! Wonderful video, as they usually are.

  • really good.

  • Is she a registered clinician? If so I wish she were my therapist. Not solely because shes facking sexy but for other reasonsas well.

  • Okay, now we know this information; but, how to we find the strength, courage, and potential to fulfill these needs when we feel trapped in an invisible bubble?

  • @cstan8t8 It's up to us to figure out how to find the strength, courage, etc to fulfill these needs. If the emotion is strong enough, we will find the inner strength to overcome anything.

  • Did you edit that video yourself?

  • Great video... the host is intelligent and very attractive and this is some great information.

  • Life is kindo tricky to get along. You have to kind of walk around with your head up your butt, or the greater nature of existance as a civilized person will cause psychoses. We have to act like there is "normal" in there somewhere, but there are only levels of protected crazy. We call that status quo.

  • This is the best video i have seen on Psychetruth.

  • love this channel!

  • Thank you 4 posting! Very helpfull.

    Merry christmas.

  • Interesting use of sexualisation in this video - the lady's top is a tad low cut and I couldn't stop thinking of possibly a subconcoius effort to prove her point. Maybe it's just me but that's what I thought anyways.

Can't wait for the rest as this is tying in nicely with my psychology class 8)

  • @lilmissglentoran

    I typed subconscious wrong! Oops!

  • Guy told me that the key to to a happy and healthy life was hard work with a good salary. Well the dumbass died of heart attack at 36. Read somewhere that

the highest rate of heart attacks was Monday mornings. If true, go figure.

  • And for the most part humans are lazy and want the quickest solution even if the actual solution will take time, they refuse to acknowledge that. The large pharmaceutical companies prey on people who want quick fixes for their problems and thus the prescription drug solution is so rampant when it doesn't actually address the persons actual problems.

  • Self reflection and problem solving is one of the most underrated coping tools that is so useful but seldom ever taught. When people have some problems in their lives they might not go about solving them in the best way they could have or perhaps even worried about the problem too much which impacted other aspects of their lives causing additional problems.

  • @Relativisticism

Absolutely!! Well said. Way to put a lot of truth in an eloquently compacted form. :-)

  • My point is, although these needs sound good, chances are there will be times when you do not have them or perhaps you might have them in lesser amounts which might after prolonged lack could lead a person into what would be considered a mental disorder when in fact they really are only suffering from a simple lack of one of these things.

  • The thing that bugs me the most about over diagnosed people with mental disorders is that we take our lives to be something that is static or unchanging when in reality it changes constantly. We can not expect every day to be the best day of our lives, because you simply can not have a best day every day. Life is going to happen and things wont always be good or appealing.

  • OHHH! Cant wait till your next videos!

  • @mooneyes89 Oooo!! ME NEITHER!! ;-D

  • I have been labeled as Scitzo since a physical and emotional breakdown when I was twenty. Many things happened to me physically at that time thus the emotional reaction. I was diagnosed incorrectly for twelve years until the phrase manic depressive came along and I was put in that diagnosis. Today I am bipolar and feel I have been dragged into the psychiatric matrix and can't get out. Is there a way out and is being back to normal a dream or just a fantasy?

  • on malnutrition 2:44 u showed the picture of an overweight lady?

  • @TheSweetPerry overweight people are often overweight in america. its more common that underweight.

  • @TheSweetPerry that's right, the majority of obesity is chronic malnutrition. Hence constant hunger and over eating because the person never gets the full range of nutrients that they need.

  • @psychetruth ...I agree. Also fat is created when the body tries to keep toxins and pathogens away from the vital organs. It stores them in body fat. If there is no fat, the body will create it. Example: Drinking a lot of sodas every day pours acid into the body and when the body can no longer neutralize them, they are stored in fat. Artificial sweeteners are chemical toxins that actually cause weight gain for this very reason. Cleanse the body of toxins and often the fat leaves.

  • @qbulb OMG .. is that a fact about sweeteners? very believable since I switched to Sucralose. What I need to know is more about this fat storage theory ... I don't totally agree about the protection theory .. true fat has toxins as a by-product of the energy released in the lab and true that a crash diet can produce an otherwise stable chemistry in the body to one with temporarily high toxins but is this not the Liver and its matabolic by- products along with heightened levels of glycogens?

  • @dartek14 ....Yes, toxins are filtered by the liver but toxins can be anywhere in the body and especially in the fat cells. I don't have time to look up studies about this. I took an industrial first aid course and in it we learn just a tiny bit about how the body will do things to protect itself so the fat storage of toxins makes sense to me. And whatever you do GET OFF SUCRALOSE. It is a killer. Go to Mercola's website and Search Sucralose or Splenda and see what it does to people.

  • @qbulb I am -VERY- sorry for the downvote. This was done accidentally on my part (I'm using accessibility features with numpad to move the mouse, and unfortunately pressed "click"), and I was thinking that there might be a method to undo this. My sincere apologies!

  • @dkupka2 ...No problem! I wouldn't have known if you hadn't told me. If you come back here again you can 'undo' it by doing an upvote next time. Thanks for your concern.

  • @psychetruth Thank you for pointing out the malnutrition aspect of obesity. Been telling people that for years but since MM doesn't talk much about it, it's hard for many to wrap their heads around it. especially in a society surrounded by a sea of foods. All should do your own research to understand this issue as well. Thx again Psychetruth. ~Happy Holidays~

  • What needs are not being met for liberals with thier mental disorder

  • Yes, I read this about Mas. along time ago. Right away I saw he was doing this study for business. Was he an atheist? Because this might fit so many people but I don't think it applies to all. And who decides what you should be reaching for in your life? And what do u call people who cannot reach a decision to make a goal? I'm too old to even think about that anymore. Especially since I almost died last year. Wouldn't this study be a bit wrong since it studies the emotions but not the religious?

  • i really like this video thanks for taking the time to explain this stuff

  • Thank you!

  • very cool

my university teacher is supposed to do better than what he did to me with a really stupid, retarded remark. Well it took me around 1,5 year to figure the system out.

Thank you for new information and very correctly presented facts!!

  • Thank you young lady for what you share!

  • @cowboyjim442003 My pleasure! :-) Thanks for watching! I love doing these videos, and I'm super thrilled you enjoy it! So really, Thank You~

  • Very good! Thank you Mucho! Now Im on my way to Nirvana, and being a Narcissistic, Cocksure, egomaniac from Hell!

  • Great video... I plan to watch it again and share it.

    thank you

  • @sz42781 eheheh that's true!

  • Facinating subject, but I find her very redundant... it's hard to stay interested in so much rehash.

  • Learnt Maslow motivational theory in my business studies

  • cool
